Saturn confirmed that it will add the Astra compact car to its lineup late in 2007, marking an important stage in its product revitalization plan. When the 2008 Astra joins the Sky, Aura, Outlook and all-new Vue, no Saturn will have been in the market more than 20 months, giving the brand one of the freshest product lineups in the industry.

Saturn today introduced the all-new 2008 Saturn Vue, a compact five-door crossover vehicle with European design and sporty ride and handling. The vehicle was revealed at the Greater Los Angeles International Auto Show.

Earlier this year, April more exactly, Saturn Saturn unveiled the PreVue Concept at New York Auto Show. The Opel Calibra (badged as a Vauxhall in the UK and a Holden in Australia and New Zealand) was launched in 1989, a front-wheel drive coupé based around the running gear of the Opel Vectra A, (Cavalier under the Vauxhall name) which had been launched the year before.

By 2014 the vehicles from Saturn Saturn and Opel will be interchangeable, in a strategy from General Motors of consolidating its Saturn and Opel brands to provide a slew of European-styled vehicles for consumers on both sides of the ocean. “From now on, whenever we develop a vehicle, we have to make sure we can export it to the U.S., and vice versa,” Forster says.
