Scania OmniCity has been something of a trendsetter when it comes to new city bus design, with its gentle rounded contours and large glass panels. The OmniCity has an all-through low floor and it is available in both normal 12-metre guise and as a three-axle articulated bus measuring 18 metres.

The boarding and exit heights although being already low can be further lowered by the kneeling function. A low kerb weight increases passenger capacity and offers a large variety of interior layouts.

Due to new construction principles low weight, high comfort and safety are combined in a unique concept. Comfort is enhanced by advanced air suspension offering the smoothest possible progress, while the fully automatic heating and ventilation system provides a pleasant interior climate.

The OmniCity fully conforms to standards of side impact tests and rollover tests according to ECE R66. The breaking system features all round anti-lock disc brakes as standard. The bus is equipped with the 9-litre engine from Scania and can also be optimised for enhanced environmental suitability with a diesel engine converted to run on ethanol fuel.

With its monococque aluminium body, the OmniCity does not have a conventional chassis. Instead, the chassis consists of two chassis modules for the 2-axle version and three main modules for an articulated bus.

OmniCity is equipped as standard with Scania’s 9-litre Euro 3-engine. The engine is mounted transversely at an angle of 60 degrees to give maximum passenger space. The engine is available in three versions, two diesel versions producing 230 and 260 hp and in a version running on ethanol which gives 230 hp.
