The London Motor Show, being held from 18 to 30 July, is the backdrop chosen by SEAT to unveil its most powerful car to date – the León Cupra. Its 240 hp signals a landmark in the history of the Spanish maker, and the presentation of this model also coincides with the celebration of the SEAT León’s sporting success, not only at the World Touring Car Championship, but also at the British Touring Car Championship, where SEAT leads both classifications.

Seat unveiled its sporty Leon FR at the Madrid Motor Show yesterday and announced it will cost from $31500 when it goes on sale in July. That buys a 197bhp petrol-powered version of the car which uses the same engine as the $37100 Golf GTI. This morning, the SEAT stand at the Madrid Motor Show witnessed the presentation of the new León FR, a vehicle that holds all the necessary features to repeat the performance of the previous generation’s sales success and popularity. The new León FR is powered by two different engines. On one hand, the 200 hp petrol 2.0 TFSI, which gives the León a performance potential of 142 mph top speed and 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 7.3 seconds.
