A sedan car is a four-door vehicle, with a separate hood covering the engine in the front, and a separate trunk for luggage at the rear — the achetypical 3-box car. However, other variations of the body style exist as well, including two-door and hatchback/fastback models.

The wait is over for the all-new 2015 Dodge Charger, though with a quick glance at the photos, it seems ‘all-new’ is a bit of a stretch. But while everything but the front grille may look carried over, nearly every body panel has been updated. The subtle changes continue inside with a reworked dashboard, a more techno-laden gauge cluster, a new center stack, and a sweet T-handle gear selector.

Things under the hood are still familiar, too. The base 3.6-liter, Pentastar V-6 returns, as does the venerable 5.7-liter, HEMI V-8. The transmission options have changed, however. The eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic is now standard across the board, helping the Pentastar V-6 achieve 31 mpg highway while assisting the 5.7-liter HEMI sprint to 60 mph in roughly 5 seconds.

The interior sees a host of electronic upgrades and new technologies within Chrysler’s latest version of Uconnect. Voice texting, updated 3D navigation, WiFi hotspot capabilities, and the all-new Dodge Performance pages all find a home within the 8.4-inch touch screen. That latter item holds a plethora of performance options and customizable settings including launch control and its rpm settings, performance timers, extra gauges, and even a g-force meter.

Matching the updated and more upmarket interior is the Charger’s reworked outer skin. The most noticeable changes lie up front with its more Dodge Dart -like appearance. Around to the sides are scalloped doors still flowing into the large rear haunches and then to a detail-rich rear fascia. A new crop of wheels completes the 2015 transformation.

Here it is folks, the "all-new" 2015 Dodge Charger . At first glance, I was a tad disgusted by the revisions, as they seemed rather light. But upon further examination, they began to grow on me and I noticed they were more extensive than I initially thought. Dodge changed up a ton of exterior metal, including the hood, fenders, fascias, front doors, R/T spoiler, taillights, headlights, center-mounted stop light, wheel selection, and added a few heritage colors. On the inside, I see a new seven-inch TFT gauge cluster, a new radio and touchscreens (available in 5- or 8.4-inch), a brand-new steering wheel, a bad-ass shifter, a new Dodge Performance Pages app and some new interior trimming.

The biggest change on the inside — other than more stylish aesthetics — is that Dodge Performance Pages, which is only available on the R/T model. This program, which is accessible through the 8.4-inch touchscreen, has active launch control with various RPM settings for perfect off-the-line acceleration, and performance timers and gauges, including G-force meters, engine oil, transmission oil and coolant temperatures, oil pressure, and engine performance. From the images, I can see there are two pages of gauges, and Dodge did not talk about what’s on page two. I assume this will be things like tire pressure, tire temperature and maybe brake temperature.

With the changes to the 2015 Ford Mustang and the anticipated changes in the next-gen Camaro , it looks like the muscle car realm is reaching for new heights.

Acura unveiled the 2015 TLX at the 2014 New York International Auto Show . It’s pretty surprising seeing it already, considering we just saw the TLX Prototype in Detroit a few months ago. But it looks like Acura’s moving ahead with the production of the TLX in an attempt to stake its name in the performance luxury sedan market.

The objective of the company is pretty obvious. The TL sedan just wasn’t cutting it, struggling to gain any traction in the face of stiff competition from other models. So in an attempt to jump start its fortunes in the midsize luxury segment, the TLX is set to arrive packing a new and refined sports-sedan design to go with Acura’s next-generation powertrain and handling technologies.

The engine options are an interesting development because the two-wheel drive 2015 TLX will carry two new powerplants, including a 2.4-liter, 16-valve, i-VTEC four-cylinder that’s mated to an all-new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a more powerful 3.5-liter, 24-valve, i-VTEC V-6 mated to a new nine-speed automatic transmission.

Handling of the TLX was also carefully upgraded, thanks to Acura’s new Super-Handling All Wheel Drive system that’s not only 25 percent lighter than its predecessor, but also incorporates new torque-vectoring control logic that ensures superior handling efficiency for the TLX.

As a luxury manufacturer, having an exclusive personalization program is mandatory these days. BMW has the Individual program, Porsche offers new, bold designs via Porsche Exclusive , while Mercedes-Benz will be happy to take your hard-earned to offer you some of its Designo exterior paints and interior leather and trims.

As expected, Audi doesn’t want to fall behind on this front so it stormed the New York Auto Show with a more exclusive take on the 2014 RS7 four-door coupe. Already an aggressive-looking and luxurious vehicle, the said model got a few bells and whistles inside and out and a new name.

Dubbed Dynamic Edition, the fanciest member of the RS7 lineup isn’t just a unique showroom model built to exemplify "some of the personalization options that are possible through Audi’s exclusive program." It will go into production and will hit dealerships this summer, but its price tag might be a turn off for U.S. customers.

Just like the tiny A1 and the more-powerful RS6 Avant , the Audi S6 is in for a facelift for the 2015 model year, and a fresh host of spy shots have just arrived to help us decipher what’s new on the high-performance sedan . Up front, the most notable changes will include a revised front grille flanked by a pair of headlamps sporting a new LED design. Same goes for the rear end, where a set of taillights will replace the current ones. An all around nip and tuck is also present under that camouflage, but we’ll only be able to notice it all once the production version is out in the open.

All told, don’t expect the 2015 model to change too much, but the crisp body and interior updates will keep the S6 fresh for a few more years.

Moving under the hood, the twin-turbo, 4.0-liter, V-8 engine, shared with the RS6 and the Bentley Continental GT , could see a 20-horsepower bump from the current 420-horsepower output, meaning 0 to 60 mph will drop below the current 4.5-second estimate.

The sedan won’t be unveiled until late 2014, so make sure you stick around for more spy shots and updates.

This is the new Infiniti Q70, just announced at the New York Auto Show , and at first blush you may not peg it as a new or refreshed model. To be honest, not much has changed since it was still called the M Sedan . There have been some visual changes to distinguish the new 2015 model from the current 2014 version, but by and large this is the same swoopy and fluidic sedan Infiniti has been selling since 2010.

That isn’t necessarily a bad thing though, as I think the Q70 is one of the best looking cars in the class.

The big news for the 2015 car is the addition of new technology and the announcement of a long wheelbase Q70L, specifically created to cater to the booming Chinese markets. Thankfully for those of us who enjoy the idea of extra rear legroom, the Q70L will be coming to the U.S. and other important Infiniti markets. This isn’t a China exclusive like so many long wheelbase models tend to be these days.

To find out about all the changes coming to the freshly announced 2015 Q70 and Q70L hit the jump.

The success of the Volkswagen Jetta is unquestioned. After all, it doesn’t earn the distinction of being VW’s best-selling vehicle for nothing. That being said, it’s a little disappointing that the 2015 Jetta , which is set to make its debut at the New York Auto Show , didn’t receive as many upgrades as we had anticipated. But hey, Volkswagen seems to think that the modifications it did put in are enough to continue the Jetta’s path as its breadwinner. It’s hard to argue on that front considering that the variety of Jetta models that are likely to be offered in the market will run the gamut of customer preferences.

Be it an entry-level Jetta, or the diesel-sipping Jetta TDI, this Volkswagen sedan is as versatile as they come in the business. Oh, and it’s got a workhorse GLI model, too, just in case you’re looking for one that has 200 horsepower under its hood.

With the 2014 New York Auto Show just around the corner, Subaru is teasing us with a new high-performance model that’s scheduled to debut at the Jacob Javits Convention Center later this week.

The automaker refrained from sharing any kind of details on the new vehicle, but the included photo depicts what appears to be a 2015 WRX STI model fitted with a large rear wing.

Finished in a light shade of blue (looks like French Blue if you ask me), the wing includes a few bare carbon-fiber components and sits atop a trunk that’s also made out of carbon fiber. Other than that, we can notice that the WRX ’s body is painted in gray, which suggests Subaru might reveal some sort of prototype.

Judging by the large wing, this vehicle must be related to motorsports , but it’s specific purpose is not quite clear. My best guess is that the Japanese are developing a new contender for the Global RallyCross Championship.

Whatever it may be, make sure you stay tuned to TopSpeed for the full details on this new vehicle. Subaru should spill the beans over the next couple of days.

The brand-new BMW M3 is only one month away from going on sale in the United States, but it appears that the German manufacturer is still working on those final track adjustments. Late last month, no less than three BMW M3s were caught on film while being hooned on the iconic Nurburgring track and the footage has finally surfaced the Internet.

It isn’t clear whether or not BMW is still developing the car’s ability to stay glued to the asphalt, while taking both fast and slow turns, but this three-minute video is bound to keep potential customers on their toes. In fact, it doesn’t matter if the new M3 is on your list or not, this is a spectacle you can’t miss.

As a brief reminder, the 2014 BMW M3 will hit U.S. dealerships with a turbocharged 3.0-liter, inline-six engine under the hood. The sedan (the coupe is now sold as the M4 ) benefits from 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Two transmissions are available, a standard six-speed manual and an optional seven-speed automatic.

The vehicle starts from $62,000 and has enough boxes on the options list to take a well-equipped model into $70,000 territory.

Nissan is gearing up to be a major player at the 13th Beijing International Auto Show and it’s bringing the New Sedan Concept to showcase its commitment in the world’s biggest and most dynamic auto market. It’s not easy to impress a market as large and diverse as China . That’s why its of importance for a lot of automakers to put their best foot forward in presenting prospective vehicles that will enter the market. First impressions last, and that is no more important than among the Chinese.

That seems to be the approach Nissan is taking with the presentation of the New Sedan Concept. Following in the footsteps of the Friend-ME Concept that debuted last year at Auto Shanghai, the Japanese company wants to make an even bigger impression with the New Sedan Concept, largely because the prototype could very well translate into a production version if reception for the concept is as good as Nissan hopes.

Fortunately, Nissan Design China (NDC), the company’s newest global design center located in Beijing, did the work on the New Sedan Concept so at least it should have the market’s pulse in on it.

Updated 04/14/2014: Nissan unveiled a new teaser video of the future sedan concept that will be unveiled later this month at the Beijing Auto Show.
