SEMA Auto Show

SEMA Auto Show is organized each year by the Specialty Equipment Market Association. It takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the biggest modified cars show in the United States. The show is divided in 4 main attractions: hot rod and muscle car tuning, modified modern car, rims and finally innovative technology. It is a must see for anyone interested in car modification.

Along with the 2014 Silverado HD , Chevrolet also unveiled two concept trucks that show "the extremes of preparedness." Both concepts were unveiled at the State Fair of Texas, but they will also be on display in November at the 2013 SEMA Show .

The first of the concepts is the Black Ops — a sinister-looking based on a Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4. The concept features a black exterior paint combined with custom-fabricated lower body armor, and a lockable, a bed-mounted Truck Vault storage unit. The concept also features a solar power pack, a pair of gas masks, gloves, military first aid kit, a folding shovel and rope.

There are no details on what engine is under the hood at this moment, but we expect it to carry the same engine found in the standard Silverado, which is a 5.3 liter, V-8 that delivers 355 horsepower or the range-topping 6.2-liter, V-8 engine with 420 horsepower.

Toyota is coming back to this year’s SEMA Auto Show , and it’s bringing along the Dream Build Challenge for an encore run.

Last year, the competition was won by NASCAR racer Kyle Busch , who took home the title for his work on the 2013 Toyota Camry , or as he later on christened it: the Rowdy Camry .

This year, another NASCAR driver, Parker Kligerman, will team up with Kyle Busch Racing to be one of the four participants in the complete custom build of four unique Toyotas. In the case of Kligerman, he has the task of using another Camry and create a rally -inspired version that has been dubbed the "CamRally".

Meanwhile, freestyle skier Simon Dumont will be teaming up with Oakley to work on a Toyota 4Runner , or as it will be built and called, the "Ultimate Dream Ski 4Runner".

Representing the world of Supercross are a pair of the sports biggest stars, Justin Brayton and Josh Grant, both of whom will collaborate with Joe Gibbs Racing Motocross to build the "Let’s Go Moto Tundra " pickup.

And finally, BMX rider Drew Bezanzon has the Toyota Corolla all to himself. He’ll still get help from Skullcandy to build what we can only imagine to be an audio box on wheels, thus its aptly named handle, the "Corolla Crusher".

All four entries will be in attendance at the SEMA Auto Show where just like last year, the fans get to decide which build stands out ahead of the pack.

Today we have another car to add on our "to be displayed" list for the 2013 edition of SEMA .

After the 1,000-horsepower Genesis Coupe prepared by Bisimoto Engineering and HRE’s 1,200-horsepower surprise , the folks at Ring Brothers revealed the first image of a 1965 Ford Mustang that it nicknamed “Blizzard” and specially developed for the Las Vegas Show.

Few details are known about this special, 1965 Mustang , but according to MustangDaily, it will arrive with a 710-horsepower, NASCAR Sprint Cup V-8 lurking under the hood. The first image also reveals that it is painted white with black and red racing stripes, and features a carbon-fiber hood, roof and front spoiler. The car will also be equipped with special wheels and with large brake calipers painted in red.

We’re sure there is much more that went into building this impressive Mustang, and we will bring you all of the details when Ring Brothers releases it.

It appears that this year’s SEMA Show will be all about powerful cars. Yesterday, Hyundai announced the first details on a 1,000-horsepower Genesis Coupe , and now HRE Wheels has 1,200-horsepower surprise prepared for Las Vegas.

All that HRE revealed about its "surprise" is that is was developed by the team at Pure Vision LLC, and that it will feature the company’s newest wheels. From the picture above, it’s pretty clear that the model will be a heavily modified Chevrolet Camaro Coupe from the 1970s that is likely fitted with a modern V-8 engine.

The vehicle seems to be updated with a new hood, front spoiler and rear wing, all made from carbon fiber.

Everything else we have on this 1,200-horsepower HRE-built monster is pure speculation, but as SEMA inches closer, we’re sure more information will start rolling out.

Remember the days when Hyundai was the laughing stock of the automotive world? Remember back when it started producing relatively cool cars? Remember when Hyundai rolled into SEMA with a 1,000-horsepower Genesis Coupe? Oh, that’s right; that just happened!

The 2013 SEMA Show opened its doors yesterday and Hyundai came with five customized models, with the star being based on the Genesis Coupes .

Developed in cooperation with Bisimoto Engineering, this model is based on a Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec , and it will deliver a whopping 1,000 horsepower — that’s more than twelve 1990 Hyundai Excels.

In order to deliver the extra power — about a 652-horsepower bump over the stock model — Bisimoto equipped the Genesis with new connecting rods, updated injectors, new pistons, turbo power and intercoolers.

Updated 11/06/2013: The new Hyundai Genesis Coupe by Bisimoto Engineering made its debut today at the 2013 SEMA Show. This was the perfect opportunity to add a new set of images and two video of the 1,000-horsepower sports coupe. Enjoy!

The auto show season is quickly approaching and this means that we have to start thinking about the upcoming SEMA show. Apparently, Lexus has been thinking about SEMA for far longer than we have, as it and DeviantART held a contest that put some of the best design artist in the nation head-to-head in an attempt to create a bad-ass concept based on the 2014 IS Sport Sedan for the 2013 SEMA show.

Lexus whittled the contest down to 25 finalists and finally announced a winner and his creation today. Above, you can see Rob Evans’ first-place-winning rendition of the IS Sport Sedan . His mods are subtle and extreme at the same time — if that’s possible. Up front, you can see a mesh spindle grille, an extended front apron with massive air vents and a front splitter for some added downforce.

Down the side, he added in wider fenders that look to add at least 5 inches to the car’s stance, a set of side skirts that look like they were formed by the wind and a large rear vent to help keep the rear brakes cool. And we certainly cannot miss those monstrous concave wheels that are coated in a deep bronze or gold.

From the rear three-quarters shot, you can see fender flares cut off abruptly, adding a futuristic touch to this already stylish sedan. He also added a large rear bumper insert and diffuser with integrated trapezoidal tailpipes to cap off the design.

The real-life version of this Lexus IS will be in Lexus’s SEMA stand in the front of Central Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center between November 5th and 8th.

Not a lot of people know who or what the Bailey Blade XTR is.

That’s about to change at the 2013 SEMA Auto Show later this year.

As a project of Neal Bailey’s BXR Motors, the Bailey Blade XTR has been in the oven for quite some time now. But the project car has yet to progress into an actual production car because, well, there wasn’t enough money to do so.

But now, the money has been injected into the project and, thanks to a teaser video released by BXR Motors, the Bailey Blade XTR is mere months away from making its official debut at the 2013 SEMA Auto Show .

It’s definitely a long time coming, especially since it has made various media rounds in the past but never got the opportunity to actually get up and running.

Needless to say, we’re all excited to see what BXR Motors has in store for all of us when the Bailey Blade XTR finally makes its debut at SEMA later this year.

Automakers are known to come up with contests for their fans that are launched to get the latter more involved in the inner workings of the industry. We’ve seen it before and we’ll see it again.

This time around, it’s Chrysler that has taken that role, opening up a new online contest to encourage its fans to show their customized Chrysler vehicles.

To drive up the interest in the contest, which has been dubbed the Chrysler Custom Challenge, the automaker decided to roll out a number of prizes that are too cool to pass up, including attending the 2013 SEMA Auto Show with their customized Chryslers, as well as a trip to the 2014 NAIAS and a lease of a Chrysler vehicle.

That last part alone would’ve gotten us interested.

As far as entering the competition is concerned, interested participants are invited to visit Chrysler’s Facebook page and submit an image of their customized Chrysler brand vehicle to go with a brief description of the customizations.

All entries will then be subjected to public voting until July 1st at which time three finalists and ten runner-up winners will be selected by a combination of judges’ scores and public votes.

So if any of you have any Chrysler-modded vehicles in your garage, stand proud and show them off. Who knows, you might be rewarded with a trip to SEMA with your baby for your efforts.

It’s perfectly understandable to drool over the Chevrolet COPO Camaro . After all, Chevy will only build 138 models - 69 for the initial batch and another 69 due to huge public demand - so it’s safe to say that only a handful of lucky owners will get the chance to own one.

But if you’re really adamant to have one, you can get the chance to bid for this one-off Inferno Orange Metallic COPO Camaro Convertible that will be auctioned off at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January to benefit the American Heart Association. However, before that, the car will be in attendance at the 2012 SEMA Auto Show .

There are a number of things to love about this particular COPO Camaro Convertible. For starters, it’s car number 69 and will be the one of only two convertible models built. More importantly, this one will be the only one to be handed to an actual owner because the other model - car number 68 - isn’t planned for public sale.

It’s also the only 2012 COPO Camaro model to be painted in Inferno Orange Metallic with matching custom graphics and a special interior trim. Likewise, only 20 COPO Camaros will carry the unmistakable 327 engine and 4.0-liter supercharger that produces 550 horsepower. This bad boy is one of them.

Jim Campbell, GM U.S. Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, understands better than anybody else the exclusivity of this one-off model. “The COPO Camaro program has been a special program and there’s not a better way to close out the 2012 racing season than with the final – and most unique – one of the production run,” he said.

“Chevrolet is proud to once again partner with the American Heart Association at Barrett-Jackson for the sale of this COPO Camaro convertible. It will make a great race car or collector vehicle for a lucky bidder, who will be buying a piece of history.

Charitable cause notwithstanding, you don’t need any more convincing that this 2012 COPO Camaro Convertible is worthy of your bids.

Updated 12/20/2012: Chevrolet will be auctioning its last 2012 COPO Camaro early next year to benefit the American Heart Association. Until then, Chevrolet has unveiled a cool video featuring some great shots of the heart of this inferno orange metallic convertible race car’s assembly by Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of performance vehicles and motorsports.
