SEMA Auto Show

SEMA Auto Show is organized each year by the Specialty Equipment Market Association. It takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the biggest modified cars show in the United States. The show is divided in 4 main attractions: hot rod and muscle car tuning, modified modern car, rims and finally innovative technology. It is a must see for anyone interested in car modification.

It looks like the Scion FR-S will be one of the major stars at this year’s SEMA Show. Scion prepared no less than four concept cars based on the FR-S , and we are pretty sure we will see more than these in Las Vegas.

One of the four concepts was designed in cooperation with Bulletproof Automotive and transforms the obedient FR-S into a 500-horsepower beast with an exterior paint conversion inspired by Lamborghini.

A base FR-S delivers only 200 horsepower, so you can imagine that taking it up to 500 horsepower required lots of work. To achieve this massive number, Bulletproof installed a new, Powerhouse Amuse turbo kit with a EFR 6758 turbocharger, new titanium turbo downpipe and front pipe, 86.5 mm overbore pistons, upgraded rods and ACL bearings. There is also a new Amuse Titan Extra STTI exhaust system. The concept can run on both 91 octane and E85 fuels.

Never one to miss a chance to peddle its wares at the SEMA Show , Mopar will roll into Las Vegas with more than 20 highly modified vehicles , ranging from the small Fiat 500 to the recently launched SRT Viper .

With the show inching closer, Mopar has revealed the first details on the models it will present in Las Vegas. It started off these announcements with a SEMA-prepped 2014 Chrysler 300S .

The 2014 300S is draped in a Phantom Black tri-coat paint combined with a set of 20-inch rollers borrowed from the Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition painted Mopar bronze.

The 300S is further distinguished by a 13-bar, black "Gotham" grille surround, a black SRT rear spoiler and a lowering kit that drops the full-size sedan closer to the ground, giving it a more aggressive look and helping it handle a little better.

Chevrolet started to unwrap its concept lineup for the 2013 SEMA Show .

The company has prepared some updates for the Sonic , Malibu , Cruze and Impala , but our favorite is this Urban Cool Impala concept.

As if the refreshed 2014 Impala isn’t already one of the baddest looking sedans to grace the local rent-a-wreck parking lot, Chevy went ahead and pushed the bounds of rental-rig supremacy with the Urban Cool Concept.

Chevy started by fitting the concept with an aggressive ground-effect kit that turns the Impala from rental-lot throwaway to a pretty sexy machine. Chevy then dropped the ride height a little for a stouter stance, draped a coat of bright-white paint on the body, added in a custom-painted grille and slapped on a set of 20-inch roller with grille-matching accents for good measure.

On the inside, Chevy added in high-gloss, piano-black and anodized, low-gloss black trimming combined with contrasting Sky Cool Gray leather-trimmed seats that pop, thanks to their orange stitching.

For you techies. Chevy added in an 11-speaker, Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound System, Chevrolet MyLink system and an eight-inch color touchscreen.

Not really our cup of tea, as the Impala is the same stamped out rent-o-buggy it’s always been, just in a different wrapper. What we want to see are some performance goodies on the Impala...

As usual, the Ford Mustang will be present and accounted for in great numbers at the 2013 SEMA Show . Classic Design Concepts will be one of many tuners showing off its mods for the Stang, and this one is simply called "Bad Penny." Why the name? Apparently because "in God we pay, all others pay cash."

The concept features a cool combination of black and copper, and gets some of the aerodynamics and styling options we’ve seen on the Vaughn Gittin, Jr.’s RTR Mustang . These elements include the new performance grille, the lower grille, front fascia with functional brake-cooling ducts, side and rear splitters, license plate surround, custom deck lid trim panel and a rear spoiler.

The car sits on 20-inch, Forgiato three-piece wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich G-Force Rival tires sized 285/35R20 up front and 315/35R20 in the back.

Wilwood big brakes are responsible for bringing the pony car to a stop, while a Whiteline Watts link suspension and RTR adjustable front and rear sway bars help keep it steady in the twisties.

The Scion FR-S holds a special place in our hearts as part of a trinity of sports cars that have taken the world by storm.

In probably one of the most understated statements of the year, we’re not the only ones who love the FR-S . Apparently, world renowned DJ and producer Steve Aoki is himself quite a fan of the FR-S, so much so that a specially-modded version of the Japanese sports car is coming to the 2013 SEMA Auto Show packed with a host of features that can only come from the genius mind of Aoki.

The car itself is called the FR-S Steve Aoki Art Car, although what kind of interpretation you have for ’art’ is valid for interpretation. In this case, Aoki went balls to the wall on the interior, dressing up the FR-S’ cabin with a steady mix of high-grade audio components that essentially turns the FR-S’ interior into a veritable — and portable — club.

A host of sound system products from Pioneer were installed with multiple component speaker packages. Custom components from MV Designz were also designed and fabricated to use with all that explosion of audio technica. And just to keep the club vibe going, the FR-S’ interior somehow also found room for strobe lighting, a deck lid-mounted LCD display and a fog machine.

By the way, don’t sleep on the FR-S’ exterior package, because the combination of that five-piece aerodynamic kit and the custom graphics (the blue and orange trims on the black body look absolutely stunning) makes for a really attractive piece of eye candy.

Toyota, Camburg Engineering and DC Shoes teamed together to bring the ultimate snowboarder’s dream truck to the 2013 SEMA auto show happening November 5th through 8th.

Starting with ideas for motocross, skateboarding and snowboarding builds, Toyota and DC Shoes asked the footwear company’s fans for their choice on which to build. The fans voted and Toyota delivered.

DC Shoes and Toyota chose Camburg Engineering for creating the dream truck. Beginning with a 2014 Toyota Tacoma , Camburg brought to life ideas from professional snowboarders like the massive front snowdeflector; a telescoping ramp for loading a full-size snowmobile on the truck bed; a full suite of audio awesomeness, including an in-dash iPad Mini and a pop-up tent mounted to the truck’s roof rack. Sitting inside the truck’s bed is a huge sliding toolbox with enough space to store gear for a weekend expedition.

“Our fans loved the concept of the snowboard-ready Tacoma, and the real-life version will blow them away,” said Dan Hartloff, events and partnerships manager for DC Shoes. “This Tacoma would add a new level of intensity to any practice session or impromptu ride with friends.”

Besides the iPad Mini, the Tacoma’s interior is treated to an integrated charging station powered by on-board batteries separate from the Tacoma’s engine battery for powering cell phones, laptops and cameras. A wireless, all-weather Scoshe boomBOTTLE pumps the music outside the truck even in the thickest of blizzards.

Vision Vision through those blizzards is no problem with the roof-mounted, 40-inch LED light bar and the two light pods sitting atop the Meyer snow deflector. Oversized General Grabber tires keep the truck moving forward – all powered by Toyota’s trusty 4.0-liter V-6.

Is it possible that the positively incredible-looking Scion FR-S could look even better when given proper aesthetic and aerodynamic enhancements?

Somehow, Scion was able to accomplish that with the FR-S Urban GT Sport Concept. Set to make its debut at the 2013 SEMA Auto Show , the FR-S Urban GT Sport Concept, or as its known in shorthand, "Style J", takes the reigns of the standard FR-S and turns it into a more menacing and downright scary sports car.

Scion describes the project as a "futuristic urban design" of the FR-S that not only incorporates a more luxurious feel to it, but also comes with a rash of technological upgrades that would fit right in with its rather furious looks.

The modifications left the FR-S with a host of new components, including a revised front profile that features a new grille configuration, new front bumpers, new fenders, and most noticeable of all, a sharper-looking headlight configuration.

The rear end also received a more polished look, with the rear bumpers designed more ergonomically than the standard FR-S. The rear diffuser also appears to be bigger with the wheel arches extended a little further to create a more staunch look for the FR-S.

The reworked FR-S also gets the benefit of having a set of 19-inch wheels in its portfolio, courtesy of HRE Performance. The suspension was likewise taken care of by Bilstein, while the ADVICS took on the brakes, installing its Big Brake System to complement all the suspension and wheels upgrades.

Judging from the specs that Scion unveiled, it appears that the Urban GT Sport Coupe received a subtle performance upgrade with output now reaching 216 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque, a slight increase from the 200-horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque figures from the standard R-S.

We’ve seen GReddy Racing do some pretty gnarly things on the Scion FR-S , and just when it seemed that we’d had enough of them, the aftermarket company is coming to the 2013 SEMA Auto Show with another heavily-modded FR-S.

This time, the official billing of this model is the FR-S Racing Drift and just like GReddy’s previous FR-S projects, this one comes with a ton of upgrades, highlighted by a GReddy turbocharged 2JZ-GTE engine. With that engine firmly installed on the FR-S, the Japanese sports coupe now boasts of a staggering output of 750 horsepower and 730 pound-feet of torque, a ridiculous number considering that the standard FR-S only has 200 ponies and 151 pound-feet of torque on tap.

But that’s how GReddy Racing rolls and if the massive performance upgrade isn’t enough to tickle your fancy, the program also has a Rocket Bunny Ver.2 aerodynamic kit to go with a new set of 19-inch Rays Gram Lights 57FXX wheels, Wilwood brakes, and a KW Competition three-way suspension setup with SPL Parts Arms.

The interior didn’t receive a whole lot of upgrades, at least unless you condor FIA racing seats and a Takata Racing Race 6 SFI harness as a "lot".

Despite having its own auto show next month, Japanese tuner Wald International is making the trip to Las Vegas to attend another auto show.

Maybe it’s using frequent flier miles...

Whatever the case may be, Wald International will be in attendance at the 2013 SEMA Auto Show and it’s bringing its new program for the Porsche Cayenne to show American customers exactly how the Japanese roll when it comes to aftermarket tuning.

Full details surrounding the program have yet to be revealed, although you only need to take a long look at the photos to determine that it’s going to come with enough new components to render the design of the standard Cayenne irrelevant.

A wide-body kit is the obvious take-away from the program, of which it includes a new front bumper, revised side skirts, extended wheel arches, a new front splitter, LED lights and a ventilated hood. It’s interesting that none of these components are overly distinctive on the standard Cayenne, making this Wald International kit an essential addition to showcasing what the Cayenne can look like with a mean mug to complement its powerful engine.

Speaking of the engine, there’s no word on any performance upgrades so expect to see the same 4.8-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine that produces 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, allowing the car to hit 62 mph in 4.7 seconds to go with a top speed of 172 mph.

A lot of companies are bracing for what should be a busy time at the 2013 SEMA Auto Show .

Certain companies are preparing to head to Las Vegas with an armada of concepts and project cars but Mazda is keeping things to a minimum, opting only to send four concepts to the show: two of the 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback and another two for the 2014 Mazda6 .

No specific details were given on any of the four concepts, but the images released by Mazda do point to relatively restrained projects compared to what we’ve been seeing from other companies in the past couple of weeks.

The two Mazda3s are designed more aggressively than the Mazda6 counterparts, including one that carries some nice decals and custom graphics that complements the new aerodynamic body it fitted into the vehicle. There appears to be a front splitter, revised side skirts, a new set of black alloy wheels, and high-performance brakes.

Meanwhile, the two Mazda6 models are a little more subdued than their 3 counterparts, including one that looks like it only received a two-tone "pinstripes" paint finish and a new set of wheels. The other one looks a lot more like what we’d expect out of a SEMA-bound model. It also has an aero kit to go with a sleek gray finish, and red and black accents. Black alloy wheels were also added, as were red brake calipers, which were made more noticeable by the "dark" appeal of the sedan.

Fortunately, all our speculations will be put on to rest once SEMA rolls around. For now, though, enjoy these photos Mazda released for us.
