The Shelby Series 1 is powered by a specially-modified aluminum Oldsmobile Aurora V8 with DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder. A unique design places the transmission at the rear axle, enabling the Series 1 to achieve a perfect 50/50 front to rear weight ratio.
The use of carbon-fiber composites and heat-treated aluminum keeps the total weight under 3,000 lbs. It’s this unique combination of awe-inspiring power, unparalleled handling and light-weight responsiveness which creates the experience of driving a race car on the street.
These cars are produced at Shelby’s Las Vegas, Nevada manufacturing facility located just outside Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the LVMS Research and Development Center. Prior to picking up their cars, new owners are introduced to the Series 1 by driving one around the track’s road course as part of a Delivery Program.
