Skoda unveiled at the Paris Auto Show the updated version of the Octavia. Although the Czech automaker does not sell to the U.S., they are owned by the Volkswagen Group, so its fun to see what comes out of the VW parts bin. In the case of the Octavia, it shares most of its parts with cars like the VW Golf and Jetta as well as a few from the Audi A3.
The 2009 Octavia includes some minor tweaks including newly shaped headlamps, radiator grille and a one-piece bumper. The revision to the rear is mainly about new tail lamp covers and a dynamic bumper with integrated cat eyes.
Škoda’s rummage through VW parts continues with the engines including the 1.4-liter TSI engine and turbocharged 1.4 and 1.8-liter gas engines. The higher end powertrains can be combined with a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic DSG transmission. Although Škoda mainly sells rebadged Volkswagen products, the benefit comes in idea that it is VW products at usually a lower price.
The most successful Skoda model, the Octavia will be presented at the Paris Auto Show with mild facelift, similar to the Fabia and Superb, next to Greenline and Sportline models.

The Greenline models will include a eco-friendly Fabia with a CO2 emission of just 109 g CO2/km and Superb with 136 g CO2/km.

Initial rumors said the future Skoda SUV will be launched in July at the London Motor Show, but Skoda denied those rumors: "Nonsense. This is the year of the Superb," said Skoda spokesman Jaroslav Cerny, referring to the automaker’s launch this summer of its new flagship car.
He also said the SUV will be launched next year, but would not specify a time.
The car will likely be called the Yeti, the name of both concept cars earlier shown by the Czech automaker. "I think we will stay with the name," Skoda head Reinhard Jung told Automotive News Europe in March.
The SUV will be built at Skoda’s Kvasiny site alongside the large Superb and the Roomster medium minivan. The two Kvasiny assembly lines have a total production capacity of 200,000 units.
Skoda will target central Europe with its Yeti and is expected to sell around 50,000 units annually.
