2013 Volvo V60 R-Design

Volvo’s trio of R-Design models that we saw at the New York Auto Show are all interesting in their own right. No, you won’t see any radical changes nor will you see an interior cabin glittering in gold.

What you will see are subtle modifications and upgrades that makes the V60 look cleaner and more sophisticated while also improving the car’s handling capabilities and, for a little premium, performance credentials.

All that can be had with the V60 R-Design and the best part is, we don’t expect any significant financial repercussions that you’ll have to be responsible for should you decide to put money down on a Volvo.

Overall, the V60 R-Design fits right into what Volvo has become within the industry. It’s a reflection of a company that shuns the bombastic razzle dazzle in favor of something a little more functional with sprinkles of edginess mixed in between.

2014 Kia Sportage Wonder Woman

The latest installment of Kia’s superhero lineup was finally unveiled at the New York Auto Show.

This time, DC’s Wonder Woman was the recipient of the Korean automaker’s superhero-themed vehicles.

The Sportage Wonder Woman is actually the seventh of an eight-vehicle partnership between Kia and DC and for what it’s worth, it’s one of the better ones we’ve seen come out of the unique collaboration.

The exterior of the Sportage features a truly unique aerodynamic look with a red and blue exterior scheme that comes accented with the same stars Wonder Woman has in her get-up. Notice also the gold trim found throughout the vehicle; that’s a nod toward the heroine’s golden lasso. On the front, Wonder Woman’s famous eagle chest plate is prominently featured and integrated into the Sportage’s grille with matching blue headlight beams representing her eyes.

Rounding out the exterior modifications is Wonder Woman’s tiara, which is clearly visible on top of the Sportage’s windshield. The chrome side panels on the vehicle that serve as graphical interpretations of her invisible jet and the five-spoke wheel design complete the wonderful work done on the exterior to pay homage to DC’s resident super heroine.

Moving inside, Kia continued the Wonder Woman-inspired theme with red upholstery and dash pieces, as well as blue LED lighting to match the exterior treatment. There are also custom seats bearing Wonder Woman’s costume with embroidered logo prominently featured. Last but not least is the cargo area of the Sportage, which has a see-through panel displaying Wonder Woman’s full list of crime fighting accessories, including her tiara, bracelets and a glowing Lasso of Truth.

2014 SRT Viper TA

When Motor Trend tested the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and the SRT Viper GTS some months back, the results didn’t sit too well with SRT boss Ralph Giles.

Determined to gain back a measure of revenge, SRT decided to expedite the build of the car it deemed as capable of wasting away the ZR1’s glory. And so, at the New York Auto Show, SRT will be bringing the latest Viper incarnation, the Viper TA.

The "TA" stands for Time-Attack, which shows you the reason why SRT decided to build the car in the first place. It comes with a host of new improvements to the suspension and handling, critical areas where the SRT GTS fell short of in its throw-down with the ZR1.

But the question is, does it all matter, or does the ZR1 just have the Viper’s number?

Updated 03/28/2013: SRT has unveiled a new set of images and a video showing the new SRT Viper TA in action on the race track. Enjoy!

The answer to that question, as well as the full details about the SRT TA, can be found after the jump.

2013 Chrysler 300 SRT Concept

While the rest of the auto world has its eyes set on New York - and Seoul, for that matter - Chrysler took to an event across America to unveil a unique special-edition 300C.

At the eighth annual Spring Festival of LXs, a conceptual model of the 300 SRT was introduced to the public, one that SRT proclaims as having been "conceived and constructed in-house over the course of one month." It also marks the second custom 300 SRT to debut at Spring Fest.

Dressed in a non-metallic "straight shade" paint finish, the 300 SRT Concept appears to look straight out of a modern-day classic magazine. Adding to the appeal of the special-edition model are blacked out details throughout the vehicle, including the window moldings, the mirror caps and taillamps, and most distinct of them all, the new matte-finish Black Vapor Chrome wheel that could potentially be a preview of the next generation of wheel finishes coming out of SRT.

SRT has promised studio photos of the new 300C SRT Concept in the near future. For now, though, these photos from the event will have to make do.

The four exterior colors will be combined with black accents on the hood, roof, rear spoiler and exterior mirrors, plus a gloss-black “392” badge and numerous gray inserts. For the interior, this special edition will add a serialized dash plaque on the instrument panel — each unit will get an individually-numbered dash plaque. The car sits on a set of black Vapor Chrome wheels.

Video: McLaren MP4-12C GT Can-Am Edition Performs an Awesome Goodwood Preview

The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the most eagerly anticipated auto shows in the world. It doesn’t have the usual expo-like feel attached to other auto shows, but it’s appeal is centered on the fact that only the most exclusive of cars are present in the event.

That and the Goodwood Hill Climb.

Ahead of the public opening of the festival this July, the annual preview day was recently held and one exotic, in particular, made quite an impression: the McLaren MP4-12C GT Can-Am Edition.

Courtesy of Shmee150, the MP4-12C CT Can-Am Edition can be seen performing some ridiculous acceleration runs to complement a steady diet of burnouts performed up the event’s famous hill climb road.

One of the most exclusive MP4-12Cs in existence, the 30-strong GT Can-Am Edition is a true spectacle of the British automaker’s renowned engineering.

Seeing it perform runs like this only adds more credence to its power, speed, and overall exclusivity.

2014 BMW 650i Frozen Brilliant White Edition Convertible

The 2014 BMW 6-Series will be heading to dealers soon and BMW has just announced an all-new special edition for folks who happen to think the 2014 650i just won’t be enough car for them. This new model is dubbed the Frozen Brilliant White Edition and you can order it in two trim levels: 650i Convertible or 650i xDrive Convertible.

On the outside, there is plenty to distinguish this new model from the normal 6-Series. The most distinguishing element is its exclusive Frozen Brilliant White Metallic matte paintjob, but the Frozen Black mirror caps, black BMW kidney grilles and 20-inch BMW M Performance light-alloy wheels in a bi-color paint scheme also help set it apart. Contrasting the exterior color perfectly is the black cloth top.

Inside the cabin, this new special edition includes black Nappa leather upholstery trimmed out with Gray Poplar wood. The Frozen Brilliant White Edition also includes the Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster, which is making its debut in the U.S. Basically, this system changes its look and what it displays to match the Driving Dynamics Control Mode you select.

In addition to these exclusive additions, BMW is also tossing in the M Sport Package, which includes an increase in the top-speed limiter, Shadowline exterior trimming, body-colored front and rear bumpers, and an M Steering wheel. Also added in is the Executive Package, which adds ceramic controls, a heads-up display, ventilated front seats, smartphone integration, soft-close automatic doors and BMW Apps. Lastly, BMW adds the Cold Weather Package standard, which adds in a ski bag and a heated steering wheel. In 2013, these kits combined would cost you a whopping $8,100 and you get them “free.”

Under the hood, there are no changes from the base 650i, so we would expect it to carry the same 4.4-liter V-8 that punches out 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The only difference between this and the base 650i Convertible is that the M Performance package jumps its top speed from 130 mph to 155 mph.

As for pricing, the 650i Frozen Brilliant White Edition will come in at $106,995 and the xDrive model will hit $110,095. Production is set to start in April or May of 2013 and only 100 models will be produced.

2013 Chrysler 300C John Varvatos Edition

Earlier this year, Chrysler and Detroit-born fashion designer John Varvatos collaborated to build a unique, one-off 300S that was eventually auctioned off at the John Varvatos 9th Annual Stuart House Benefit with the proceeds going to benefit The Rape Foundation in support of Stuart House.

We’re saying this because as it turns out, Chrysler and Varvatos’ collaborative endeavors weren’t just limited to a one-off model. That’s because the two have also built a pair of bespoke luxury sedans together based on the 300C. The two models, called the John Varvatos Limited Edition and the John Varvatos Luxury Edition, show what happens when you get two of Detroit’s finest to build a car together.

Given the credibility and respect John Varvatos commands in the fashion industry, these pair of special edition 300C models bearing his name prove that when it comes to perfectly blending his hometown’s blue-collar appeal with the luxury of a car like the 300C, the man has the pulse of the action.

UPDATE 3/25/2013: We are eagerly anticipating the release of the John Varvatos Edition of the 2013 300C and Chrysler has just released an ad teasing its release. The press release also unveiled a rough release date. Find out the release time frame after the jump and you can see the video above.
