2010 Lotus Exige Cup 260

Lotus Exige Cup 260

The lightweight English sports car builder Lotus has just unleashed a whole new type of animal onto the performance car market, taking Colin Chapman’s original philosophy to a whole new level in order to create a 257 HP supercharged hard top Lotus Elise that can go from 0 to 60 MPH in only 4 seconds. By using items like a lightweight ’motorsport’ battery, ultra-light five spoke forged alloy wheels, revised rear engine subframe with lightweight coating, lightweight fly wheel, lightweight composite bulkhead panel replaces rear window as well as alloy supercharger U-bend pipes; and by deleting unnecessary items like carpets, front mud flaps, battery cover, interior mirror, sunvisors, rear tailgate gas strut the Lotus design team has been able to shed almost 250 pounds from the compact sports car.

Although the 1.8 Liter Toyota four cylinder still makes the same 257 HP and 174 lb-ft of torque thanks to a supercharger, the Lotus Exige Cup 260 is highlighted by an extensive use of carbon fiber, motorsport lightweight wheels, Ohlins 2-way adjustable dampers
and rear chassis stiffness increased by 30%. The Cup car for the streets also comes with race equipment like a redesigned front end and GT3 inspired wing out back with a set of HANS device ready racing buckets inside. However this is a true track day special and the when you come to think of it $80,000 is a lot to pay for a lot of discomfort however air conditioning and an interior noise reduction pack are available at the owners request, For some owners that is only a small sacrifice to endure and a smaller price to pay for such a visceral driving experience.

Ultra rare Rambo Lambo Lamborghini LM002 up for sale

Ultra rare Rambo Lambo Lamborghini LM002 up for sale

Show the photo of this car to 10 people out on the streets and ask them to guess what band it is. Chances are nobody’s going to get the answer right. If somebody did, he probably made a lucky guess.

This is a 1986 Lamborghini LM002 – hardly looks like a vehicle Lamborghini would make, right? And we must advise you not to bet your house on the premise that this is just some run-of-the-mill vehicle the folks from Lambo built because they were bored. Arguably one the rarest Lamborghinis you can find anywhere in the world, this particular LM002 was originally built for the Sultan of Brunei – yes the same man who reportedly has over 6,000 cars in his garage – and while Sultan Bolkiah doesn’t own it anymore, the man who does is, apparently, selling it.

The car, by all accounts, has been remodelled and modified a number of times with the end product boasting of a number of different features including an upgraded interior with electric front sears, a couple of roof-mounted CD and DVD players, LCD monitors, an electric sunroof, and so much more.

New Hurst special edition Dodge Challenger

New Hurst special edition Dodge Challenger

The American tuning house Hurst Performance Vehicles has been around since beginning of the muscle car days. Which means that they have put over 40 years of high performance technology into the Series 4 Supercharged 2010 Hurst/Hemi Challenger, dressed in the company’s signature silver and black paint scheme. It was the venerable Doc Watson who first introduced the original silver and black Hurst/Olds in 1968, a signature model that went on to be the most famous Hurst specialty vehicle of all time. So it was no surprise when Doc said that "I am proud to be part of the continuation of a great Hurst tradition…these wonderful vehicles should prove to be some of the most collectible Hurst cars in the future."

Aside from the two tone getup, this Challenger features red accent stripes on the outside and accented details throughout the interior. One thing that sets Hurst apart from other aftermarket tuners is their attention to detail, unlike the factory cars, Hurst cars wear painted stripes and graphics smoothed out under a clear coat, not stickers. However Hurst is offering more than just an appearance package, under the hood, the 6.2 Liter Hemi sucks in cold air through a K&N air filter before it gets compressed by a Hurst/Vortec supercharger and then spit out the back through a Hurst/Magnaflow polished stainless steel cat-back exhaust system. This combination is good for a total of 572 HP and 528 lb-ft of torque, over 150 HP more than the factory V8 produces.

Alfa Romeo 8C GTA rendering

The Italian automaker, Alfa Romeo is hard at work preparing a factory tuned GTA version for their hottest model at the moment, the carbon fiber constructed 8C. The new car is set to debut sometime next year and will take its inspiration from the classic 1965 Giulia Sprint GTA. The exterior of this particular Alfa Romeo 8C GTA rendering shows how the Italian automakers could go with a touring car style front bumper that incorporates very large air intakes with a very low and a wide front splitter made from what looks like carbon fiber, this setup allows the engine to breathe while keeping the front end planted at high speed. This automotive designer also incorporated a set of larger vents in the front fenders located directly behind the front wheels to continue the functional racing theme started with the nose. However we doubt that when it goes into production that Alfa would choose to slather their logo across the hood like that.

The car will tip the scales at 1,450 kg that is about 150 kg less than the standard 8C Competizione and make use of tuned variant of the high revving 4.7 Liter V8, with this much displacement, the output of the Italian engine will go up to around 500 HP. The additional grunt means that the 8C GTA will be able to make a 0 to 60 MPH sprint in less than 4 seconds, while the top speed will be raised to 200 MPH.

Alfa Romeo is planning to build only 100 units of this particular high performance model, each wearing a price tag of £200,000. That’s about $282,000 here in America, and it’s really not that much when you consider that you a buying a high performance variant of an already outstanding automobile.

MINI "Rally Edition" Clubman S headed to America

MINI "Rally Edition" Clubman S headed to America

To say that 2009 has been a big year for MINI is an understatement. In line with the company’s 100th year anniversary, MINI has rolled out a laundry list of special edition vehicles this year alone. Over the course of a few months, MINI has introduced the Mayfair, the Camden, the JCW World Championship 50, and a host of other limited-run vehicles to commemorate the company’s 100th year of existence.

And now, MINI USA, as part of the lead-up for the introduction of the MINI Clubman JCW aero-kit – is bringing to the US the MINI “Rally Edition” Clubman S. With only 70 of these babies being shipped to the US, this “rally Edition” MINI is shaping up to be a must-have car for MINI enthusiasts in America. These guys better act fast, though, because reports have said that each MINI dealer in the US is scheduled to receive only one car, which comes with its own signature plaque signifying the ‘exclusivity’ of the car, for each store.

Video: 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

Chevrolet has only made the Grand Sport option available two other times in the Corvette’s history. The original Grand Sport was a track-only special with a 550 hp V8, and the 1996 version was the only Corvette to use the LT4 engine. So our biggest concern when we heard rumors of the return of the Corvette Grand Sport was that Chevrolet was not going to be able to deliver a car that lived up to the historic name. For the third edition Chevrolet reached into the Corvette part’s bin and pulled out sort of a “best of” package for the standard Corvette.

This iteration of America’s favorite sports car becomes even more desirable by combining styling cues from the much more expensive Z06 and ZR-1 super cars with the availability of creature comforts like an automatic transmission or even a drop top convertible Corvette. The body is one of the main differences between the Grand Sport and the standard C6 is the car’s wide stance and flared fenders as well as a larger wheel and tire package and a set of 6 piston brake calipers up front and a pair of 4 piston clampers out back. The body incorporates an air intake in the hood, gills in the front fender and a small scoop in the rear quarter all in an affordable package. Join General Motors employees Harlan Charles, the Corvette Product Marketing Manager and Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter as they tell you a little more about their latest creation.

2005 Saleen Mustang aka "Barricade" is a steal selling for only $36,000

2005 Saleen Mustang aka "Barricade" is a steal selling for only $36,000

Sometimes, when you see a bargain staring at you right in the face, you’d be a fool to not bite on it, especially when you consider that the said bargain appeared in one the most successful movies in history and could fetch you twice – or maybe more – as much money down the road.

The car is a 4.6-liter V8 2005 Saleen S281 Extreme or, in the case of this ride, is more popularly known as Barricade, the card-carrying member of the evil Decepticons from the blockbuster movie, Transformers. The lucky collector who scooped up this beautiful ride got it for a tremendous bargain of only $36,000, which, if you’re curious to know, is exponentially smaller than the estimated price tag of $100,000 - $300,000 it was estimated to be.

Not that the collector had any problems with it. In addition to purchasing it at a discount, the lucky fellow should be ecstatic to know that only three of these cars were ever made and that it was fully customized to the brim not just by Saleen but by Dreamworks SKG as well. The best part is, the car has only logged about 4,550 miles on the odometer with most of it, we can imagine, used while chasing down Sam Witwicky and the galaxy-saving Autobots.

Rolls-Royce set to release the exclusive Phantom Bespoke Collection in the Middle East

Rolls-Royce set to release the exclusive Phantom Bespoke Collection in the Middle East

The Middle East has come to be known as the playground of the rich and famous. As such, their lavish lifestyles have to be satiated with expensive toys, no matter how big or small they may be.

The market in the Persian Gulf region for anything high-end is strong, to say the least. That’s why Rolls Royce has decided to release the new Rolls Royce Phantom Bespoke Collection exclusively in that part of the world. After all, chances are that most of the people that can afford these cars have permanent residences there. It’s one thing to be able to afford a ‘standard’ Rolls-Royce but only the wealthiest of the wealthy can afford something that comes out of the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collection like this recently-released Phantom.

Decked in a two-tone Arizona Sun over English White paint, this particular Phantom is the second one that was created under the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Program, which, as you can now plainly see, gives customers free reign to alter any optional extras they would like to change, both inside and out. The first car that came out of this program was a gold Drophead Coupe that was delivered in – surprise, surprise – Abu Dhabi.

2010 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu

We reported at the end of July that Bugatti will bring a special edition Veyron Grand Sport at the Pebble Beach weekend. And here it is: the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu, an exclusive supercar limited to only 20 units.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu combines carbon fiber and polished aluminum - an innovative combination never realized before. The visual carbon fiber is tinted in royal blue to emphasize the refined volumes and surfaces of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. The rear airscoops are tinted in the same nightblue – offering a dramatic view from above – and thus fluidly integrate into the overall design philosophy of this unique model.

The rims are inspired by the Grand Sport Roadster and are highlighted in a Midnight Blue and Diamond Cut two tone finish. The interior is trimmed in a newly developed Gaucho leather.
