  Sports Cars are engineered to go around corners and straight lines as fast as possible. They are usually expensive, dangerous and so much fun that everybody wants one. Owning a sports car is a gratifying experience but it will cost you money and back pain as they are usually expensive to maintain and not very comfortable. But who cares as they look like supermodels at the beach.

We’ve already discussed all of the details around the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 earlier, when GM introduced the sexy, yet track-capable drop-top at the New York Auto Show . And we were pretty impressed with the fact that Chevy managed to keep weight to a minimum after chopping its roof off.

The staggering power, the projected performance and the aerodynamic body kit are the other reasons that will make grovel at its wheels, but have you heard the way this beast of a car sounds like when the ignition fires up that supercharged, 6.2-liter, V-8 mill? You might be the biggest Corvette hater in the world, but if your heart doesn’t start pumping faster after hearing a Z06 idle, then you’re NOT a petrolhead and you should go hang around a bunch of Toyota Prius.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently, then you should know that the 2015 Corvette Z06 received a brand-new LT4 engine that’s set to generate at least 625 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque. Those figures should be enough to propel the coupe from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.4 seconds, with the convertible to be a tad slower at 3.5 seconds.

The sports car won’t hit the streets until the first quarter of 2015, so make sure you watch the video above if you’re looking for some early exhaust note action.

Mercedes-Benz has yet to offer a cabriolet version of the C-Class until now, leaving only BMW and Audi to fight it out on the German front, But that’s about to change next year, when the very first iteration of the C-Class Convertible will arrive in showrooms.

Developed independently from the coupe, the drop-top will also borrow most of its styling cues from the 2015 C-Class Sedan , and will come with a retractable soft-top and probably with the cool AirCap anti-draft system found in the E-Class Cabrio .

Details are scarce at the time of this writing, but we have a batch of spy shots suggesting the vehicle is nearing its final development phase, with an official launch to occur in the first half of 2015.

The U.S.-spec convertible is likely to cross the Pond the North America with 2.0-liter, four-cylinder and 3.0-liter, V-6 engines under the hood, but a C63 AMG version is also expected to go on sale with a more powerful 4.0-liter, turbo, V-8 mill motivating the wheels.

Jaguar may not have as huge a presence at this year’s Geneva Auto Show now that its big reveals of the F-type Roadster and Coupe have been accomplished, but that hasn’t stopped them from teasing us with their next big reveal.

All we have are a few teaser images, but Jaguar has confirmed that their compact 3 Series -fighter is real and it is going to wear the name XE.

This new car will be the first that is built using Jaguar’s all-new aluminum architecture that was first previewed with the C-X17 Concept SUV . Jaguar has been building aluminum intensive cars for over a decade now, but this move will further reduce the weight of Jaguar’s many offerings.

The new XE will likely create the backbone of Jaguar’s sales once it hits showrooms in 2015 (US availability is 2016). It will likely eclipse the sales of all the other Jaguars combined in its first year on sale.

For such a mainstream model, expect a range of engine options and power outputs from a base four-cylinder all the way to a potential M3 fighter with the supercharged V-6 from the F-Type.

If you ever wanted to own a Ferrari 275 , your chance is coming up. RM Auctions has been entrusted with the sale of this special Fezza, and it will hit the block in Monterey this August. Just make sure to bring your big boy wallet; this one wont go cheap.

Not only, is this a pristine example of a 275 GTB/4 , it was also owned and customized by Steve McQueen. The car was ordered by McQueen in 1967 and was delivered to him in the middle of filming "Bullit."

While the car originally arrived wearing gold paint, McQueen quickly had it painted red. The wire wheels are also not standard. They came off a different 275 that McQueen had wrecked.

After a few years of ownership, the car was sold to Guy Williams. Over the years it passed through many hands, but the latest owner had the car fully restored . Don’t be worried about the quality of that restoration, as the car has been on display at the Ferrari Museum in Italy ever since the refurb.

This could be the perfect addition to any Ferrari collection, but you will need to pay for the privilege. Sales estimates are as high as $9 million.

In our most recent TopSpeed Podcast , Christian, Justin, and myself were asked the age-old question: If you had a reasonable amount of dough to blow on a sports car, what would you get? Well, we’d be lying if we said it wasn’t a constant fantasy in our subconscious. The idea of a sporty car with generous power and an accessible sticker price would make any gear head salivate.

To that end, we’ve gathered a list of eight respectably sporty cars that can be picked up for under $20,000. The list includes a mix of foreign and domestic brands with coupes, convertibles, and even a four-door sedan. Of course, this is hardly an exhaustive list that includes every good sports car under $20K, but it’s a good start and will likely generate ideas for other cars if you’re in the market.

And like we said on the podcast, it’s always a smart idea to have a trusted mechanic give the car a once-over before fronting the cash. Even if problems don’t exist on your car in question, it’s always a good idea to know the typical problem areas of that particular model.

After first showing us some Gran Turismo awesomeness late last year, BMW has finally pulled the covers of its latest concept vehicle, but one that will only be available in the world of Gran Turismo 6. This is the 2014 BMW Vision Gran Turismo Concept and as we had expected, it looks positively insane.

Remember when Mercedes became the first company to unveil its own Vision Gran Turismo Concept ? When it did, we all fell out of chairs, blown away by the insanity of Merc’s creation. But what it also did was set the bar really high for the rest of the car brands that were preparing their own concepts for Gran Turismo 6.

Admittedly, we had some trepidations on what other companies had up their sleeves. But with the arrival of BMW’s GT6 concept, all the doubts that crept up in our heads about what the car was going to look like quickly evaporated.

At first glance, you get the vibes of the M4 Coupe , albeit one that’s been rebuilt specifically for video game-racing purposes. But the best part about this concept is that unlike the Mercedes version, this one looks like its ready to be transformed into the real world.

Should that happen, trust us when we tell you: it’s going to be have a lot of people clamoring for a piece of it.

Japanese automaker Nissan has just released a teaser photo of an upcoming model that’s set to make its official debut on May 16th. The company declined to reveal any kind of details, but the darkened photo suggests we’re about to see an updated version of the 370Z Nismo . It appears the sports car will get a more attractive front fascia with a redesigned bumper, a larger air intake and individual daytime running lights mounted on the sides. A red-painted splitter and a Nismo badge mounted on the upped side of the grille are a clear indication of the car’s purpose.

Underpinnings are likely to be a carry over from the 2014 370Z Nismo , but we wouldn’t be surprise to see a few extra ponies shoved under the hood. The current model comes with 350 horsepower and 276 pound-feet of torque generated by a 3.7-liter, V-6 engine and guided to the wheels by a six-speed manual transmission.

For all of the press and hype surrounding the Toyota GT 86 and the Subaru BRZ , not a lot of people know or have given love to the third model of the bunch, the Scion FR-S.

All that’s about to change because the Scion FR-S has arrived. For those that have shed rivers of tears when they found out that neither the GT 86 nor the BRZ were headed Stateside, news that the FR-S will arrive in America is tantamount to a post Thanksgiving blessing.

Now, we’ve actually seen a concept version of the FR-S - called the FR-S Concept - at the New York Auto Show , so it really didn’t come as a surprise to a lot of us that the sports coupe was coming to the US, but seeing the concept and seeing the production version are two different things.

It doesn’t even matter that we’re not getting the GT 86 and the BRZ. We have the FR-S, and just like a child that comes to us, we’re going to shower it with as much love as we can possibly give.

Updated 05/15/2015: Scion today announced prices and updates for the 2015 FR-S sports car set to go on sale just in time for summer. Updates for the 2015 model year include: a more rigid front suspension and re-tuning of the rear shock absorbers, larger exhaust tips and for the interior an updated panel with a carbon fiber look. The model will also get auto on/off headlights. Prices for the 2015 FR-S will start from $24,900 for the six-speed manual version and $26,000 for the six-speed automatic one.

If you’re in the market for an Audi TTS this year, you need to settle for a current-generation model, as the next iteration , which was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show , won’t go on sale until 2015. And that’s because the Germans are still busy working on the all-wheel-drive sports car , trying to figure out the best possible setup for optimum performance and handling. Due to its sporty nature, the TTS also needs a bit of track tuning, which is why Audi brought it to the Nurburgring track earlier this month.

The wet conditions weren’t exactly ideal for course testing or for an official lap time attempt, but that didn’t stop the company’s engineers from dropping the hammer on the Nordschleife. And in spite of its quattro system, the TTS was quite tail happy on the wet asphalt, showing that you don’t actually need rear-wheel-drive car to have some fun.

As a brief reminder, the upcoming Audi TTS sports a turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine under the hood, similar to the one found in the S3 . Rated at 310 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, the unit produces 40 horses more compared to the current mill, and enables to vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

McLaren’s announcement that it was planning to launch one new model a year paved the way for the impending arrival of the company’s entry-level model, the P13 . It’s a segment that McLaren admittedly lacks presence in but recently, McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt bared significant details about the P13, shedding more light to what’s already shaping up to be an interesting "entry-level" sports car .

Speaking with Top Gear, Flewitt announced that the P13 will, in fact, be slotted below the 12C , and will cost only two-thirds of the 650S . Do a little calculating and you’re going to hit somewhere close to £135,000, which is about $226,000 based on current exchange rates. That ought to be good news for those looking for a McLaren but that don’t have the finances to afford the 12C or 650S. That also makes it about £7,000 ($11,727) less than the 911 Turbo S.

Another interesting revelation from Flewitt is that the P13 will carry a V-8 powertrain similar to the 650S, albeit one that will come with significantly less output than the 650S. Flewitt didn’t specify the number, but whispers in and around Woking lead us to believe that the final number will be between 400 and 500 horsepower. That should be enough to justify an entry level McLaren without impeding on the 650S and the 12C.

The P13 will also carry the same two-seat, mid-engine configuration that McLaren has been known for. In a lot of ways, the P13 will not be as small as people think. For one, McLaren has said that all its models except for the P1 will use the same carbon-fiber tub, dubbed the ‘monocell." Flewitt also admitted that once the engine is added into the equation, the P13 will have its own character and identity that will certainly lend itself as a model that can make a mark in its segment. At least that’s what the big boss of McLaren Automotive believes, proudly exclaiming that the P13 will be "the most engaging car in its segment" when it goes on sale in September next year.

Just don’t expect it to retain the ’P13’ nonmenclature. The company hasn’t come up with a name, but you can expect it to be at least consistent with how it’s named its other models.
