  Sports Cars are engineered to go around corners and straight lines as fast as possible. They are usually expensive, dangerous and so much fun that everybody wants one. Owning a sports car is a gratifying experience but it will cost you money and back pain as they are usually expensive to maintain and not very comfortable. But who cares as they look like supermodels at the beach.

Aston Martin’s Q by Aston Martin division has created some pretty delicious personalized models since it was launched in 2012. In a lot of ways, it’s become one of the best things Aston Martin has done in recent years. So when Aston Martin announced that four unique Q by Aston Martin models will be displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance , the excitement behind it is completely legitimate. The Aston Martin DB9 Volante is one of the models that will be given the Q by Aston Martin treatment. I’ve looked at all four examples headed to Pebble Beach and there’s no question in my mind that the DB9 Volante is a stunner.

It’s just a beautiful, personalized Aston Martin that exudes all the best things the brand is known for. It’s also unique enough that you probably won’t see another Aston Martin dressed in the same colors anytime soon.

That’s the beauty of the Q by Aston Martin division. It creates examples that are so unique and personally detailed that you can’t help but wonder why Aston Martin doesn’t release more of these models to the public.

The Pebble Beach-bound Aston Martin DB9 Volante Q by Aston Martin is a perfect example of that.

Sometimes, the best tuning programs are the ones that don’t carry performance upgrades. That might annoy some aftermarket enthusiasts, but it’s also true to a certain extent. Take this Audi R8 for example. It’s the work of German tuner xXx Performance, or Triple X Performance, depending on how you prefer to call the company. This R8 doesn’t have any overpowering engine upgrades; actually, the closest thing it has to a performance improvement is a new throttle system that serves a more complimentary purpose than anything else. What this R8 does have are aesthetic and wheel upgrades that help the Audi supercar blend the two-tone white-and-orange color scheme together nicely.

The program admittedly appeals more to the eyes than it does to the ears. It’s not for everybody, that much I’ll acquiesce to. But you can’t deny how incredibly explosive it looks, with the white body and the orange graphics and wheels. It also doesn’t mean you won’t be able enjoy the throaty roar of the R8’s 525-horsepower, 5.2-liter, V-10 engine. That element is still in place. It’s just that xXx placed more emphasis on turning this R8 into a can’t-take-your-eyes-off-of-it eye candy.

You know when you’re a kid in a toy store and you’re presented with four toys to pick from, but the issue is that you really want all of them? That’s what Aston Martin’s new lineup of Q by Aston Martin models feels like. Is it possible to just pick all of them as my favorite? I admittedly chose the DB9 Volante version, but the V12 Vantage S is tugging at my conscience.

Q by Aston Martin’s work on the V12 Vantage S, which is set to debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance, deserves all the adulation it can get. It’s rich body color exemplifies Aston Martin’s luxurious image. The intricate detail of the interior is also a sight to behold, kind of like looking at a design masterpiece of the highest order.

Just looking at these models bound for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is tough enough on its own. I can only imagine how difficult it is for an Aston Martin customer to get their hands on a Q by Aston Martin-personalized model.

Both Hennessey Performance and the Ford GT need no introduction. The former is already famous for uprating almost anything Cadillac and Chevrolet have to offer, among various vehicles from other brands, while the latter is the last supercar to come out of Dearborn. So is there anything Hennessey and the Ford GT have in common? Actually, yes! The Texas-based shop is now offering a mind-boggling engine upgrade that turns the GT into a 1,000-horsepower beast.

Uprating an engine that already generates 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque with help from a supercharger isn’t easy, but Hennessey Hennessey found the perfect answer. Turbocharging! Yes, the supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 gets even more forced induction, this time around from two ball-bearing turbines, along with the necessary updates for an insane output that sits at exactly 1,000 ponies. These include stainless-steel turbo exhaust and pipes, a billet throttle, twin wastegates, a fuel system upgrade, and a new mass airflow sensor.

Add Hennessey’s very own engine management calibration and the stage is set. This beefed-up GT will take you from 0 to 60 mph in a neck-snapping 2.8 seconds and up to a top speed of 245 mph. If you’re a petrolhead who likes to burn some rubber at the drag strip, then this GT will also enable you to smoke the quarter-mile in 10.6 seconds at 142 mph. Rounding out this exquisite package are a few HPE1000 exterior badges, serial-numbered dashboard and engine plates, and a one year or 12,000-mile warranty.

If you need one more reason why the Ford GT becomes increasingly awesome with the HPE1000 package, then all you have to do is click the play button above. The twin-turbo and supercharged GT just hit the dyno to show off its muscles, enticing exhaust note and intoxicating whistle from the turbos. It’s a soundtrack you can’t miss!

The 1950s and 1960s gave us the most exquisite sports cars and race vehicles ever built. The Italians had Ferrari and Alfa Romeo , the British had Aston Martin and Jaguar , while the French had Gordini and Alpine. Be it grand tourers, lightweight coupes and lightning-fast barchettas, these companies built them all. They showcased them on the streets and on the tracks, drawing the utmost attention during an era in which beauty and speed blended perfectly.

All these cars have grown into rare collectibles that fetch dollars by the millions. Most of them cost more than a brand new Ferrari, while numerous classic Ferraris are pricier than a mansion with a Bugatti Veyron in its huge front yard. It says a lot about the way these cars were built back in the day and the exclusivity that came with most of them. As much as we hate it, those days are never coming back. However, thanks to a number of small ventures around Europe, we can still see classic-inspired automobiles being built in the 21st century.

One of those companies is Fratelli Frigerio. It was set up by brothers Leonardo and Vittorio Frigerio in Vidigulfo, Italy with one purpose in mind: build an authentic grand tourer using coachbuilding techniques and a design inspired from the greatest Italian automobiles ever created. The result is Barchetta SS, an Alfa Romeo-powered coupe that bears an astonishing resemblance to the almighty Ferrari 250 GTO. Although only a prototype as of August 2014, the Berlinetta SS is definitely a project you need to check out.

Mercedes-Benz seems to be preparing a bruiser version of its compact GLK crossover. We’ve seen the GLK strutting its stuff across European roads wile clothed in swirly wrap, but now there’s word about what will power this little AMG creation. Mercedes and its performance division AMG are building a new powerplant that will eventually be a ubiquitous sight throughout the AMG lineup.

Car & Driver reports Mercedes’ new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 destined for the 2016 GT will find its way into upcoming GLK 63 AMG . Of course horsepower and torque output numbers will differ from vehicle to vehicle, but we can expect at least 400-plus horses for the SUV .

The engine is a wonderment of modern technology. It features Mercedes’ first ‘hot V’ design with both its turbos packaged between the cylinder heads. That means the V-8 will have a reverse-flow design, bringing fresh air into the block through the outside of the cylinder heads. The major benefit lies with the short distance exhaust gasses must travel to spool the turbos. In this case, shorter is better.

The engine, codenamed M178, also has a dry-sump oil system and a ‘Nanoslide’ coating on the cylinder walls. Combined with high-performance internal components, the 4.0-liter will enjoy a redline around 7,000 rpm.

With nearly instant boost from such a stout engine, the GLK 63 AMG should post pretty impressive numbers at the track. Expect 60 mph to come in under five seconds.

It isn’t as hardcore as a Nissan GT-R , but it certainly is very sporty. The Nissan Z-cars have been around for a long time and the 2014 370Z is the latest iteration of a long line of Z-cars that have come and gone.

Last year, Nissan updated the 370Z Roadster with new features like daytime running lights, an updated front fascia without compromising on the looks. The coupe has nice high shoulder and confident looks. Chopping off the roof hasn’t ruined the handsome exterior of the 370Z either.

For 2014, the Nissan 370Z Roadster employs a 3.7-liter V-6 naturally aspirated engine with 332 horsepower on tap. The engine is capable of churning out 270 pound-feet of torque @ 5200 rpm. For driving enthusiasts, Nissan offers a 6-speed manual gearbox which comes with Nissan’s SynchroRev Match system, while a 7-speed automatic with paddle-shift is also on the list.

The 2014 370Z is capable of delivering similar performance as the 2013 model. Combined fuel economy figures released by Nissan confirm that the 2014 model is rated at 20 mpg and 21 mpg for manual and automatic version respectively.

Updated 08/08/2014: Nissan announced a series of updates and prices for the 2015 370Z Roadster. For 2015 the lineup received a new 370Z Touring Sport Roadster trim level, plus revised steering feel and suspension tuning on all models. Prices will range from $41,820 for the base model and will go up to $49,400 for the new 370Z Roadster Touring Sport 7AT version.

Looks like the Lexus LFA will finally get a successor after all. Ever since production of the LFA ended in 2012, the Japanese automaker hasn’t had a flagship supercar under its name. There was talk of a potential successor, but those discussions were eventually scuttled, leaving the company with a gaping hole in the top of its already potent model lineup. But something must’ve happened within the company to make it reverse course on its position.

Automotive News is reporting that Lexus Executive Vice President Mark Templin confirmed to reporters that the company will, in fact, build a successor to the LFA. The decision even has the blessing of Toyota President Akio Toyoda, which is the equivalent of taking this development to the bank.

"Akio believes that every generation deserves to have a car like an LFA, so we’re building an LFA for the generation we have today," Templin said during a ceremony in Japan dedicated to the Lexus NX. "At some point, there may be another special car for another generation."

No specific details have been divulged surrounding this new supercar but you can at least expect Lexus to dedicate a lot of time and money to test and develop it. That was the approach Lexus engineers took with the LFA and there’s no reason why it’s going to be different this time around.

For now, though, we’re just excited to hear that the LFA will get a successor. For a while, we didn’t think it was going to happen, so props go to Lexus for finally recognizing the obvious.

The Q by Aston Martin program really is something else, isn’t it? The personalization program has the ability to turn any Aston Martin into a real work of art. We’ve seen it happen time and time again since the program was launched in 2012. But we’ve never seen it to the extent of what Aston Martin is bringing to the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance . Four Aston Martin models, all dressed up by Q by Aston Martin. One of these models is the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante , a supercar that holds a special place in my heart because it’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a supercar . Fast, powerful, luxurious, and gorgeous, all at the same time. That’s how I’d describe the Vanquish Volante in so many words.

The Vanquish Volante Q by Aston Martin is an especially attractive iteration of the Aston’s most powerful convertible supercar. It’s dressed to the nines the way a well-kept and tidy exotic should be. The silver and tan treatment on the body and cabin blends perfectly in a way that fits the aura of the Vanquish Volante.

Classy on the outside, aggressive on the inside. Just the way Aston Martin intended the Vanquish Volante to be.

Earlier in August 2014, we learned about the updates prepared by Aston Martin for the 2015 Vanquish , and now the powerful grand tourer is set to receive the love it deserves from the company’s customization program, Q by Aston Martin. As if the numerous exterior and interior options available for the Vanquish weren’t enough, the Q by Aston Martin division jumped in with a brand-new program for the coupe, enhancing its appeal to a level even the most exigent customers can’t say no to.

Flashy colors, bold contrasts and an enhanced carbon-fiber pattern are now up for grabs to go with the coupe’s enhanced performance figures. In case you’ve been living under a rock, the 2015 Vanquish is a half-second quicker to 60 mph than the 2014 model, thanks to a slightly uprated engine and an all-new transmission. The 5.9-liter V-12 mill now generates 568 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, while the state-of-the-art Touchtronic III, eight-speed automatic makes sure the oomph is efficiently delivered to the wheels.

If you thought the Vanquish can’t get any better that it already is, then you definitely need to have a closer look at Q’s latest creation.
