Sports Cars are engineered to go around corners and straight lines as fast as possible. They are usually expensive, dangerous and so much fun that everybody wants one. Owning a sports car is a gratifying experience but it will cost you money and back pain as they are usually expensive to maintain and not very comfortable. But who cares as they look like supermodels at the beach.
The Porsche 911 Speedster is a rare variant with only three generations notched onto its belt. The first was provided for the 911/930 from 1975-1989 and the second was built from the 911/964 generation from 1990-1994. After 16 years of dormancy, the 911 Speedster arrived at the tail end of the 997 series, more than likely to allow the generation to go out with a bang, but we would have much rather Porsche held out for the 991 generation.
If they had held out, we would expect the
911 Speedster to be the last variant to show up on the 911 roster, sometime in 2013. Like the current model, Porsche would focus on making the car lighter and more powerful: the current version uses a 3.8-liter flat six engine that produces 408 HP. Of course, the model would also be a limited edition, so many of us would be unable to get our hands on one.
That may not matter though. When taking history into account, the odds of Porsche bringing the 911 Speedster back only a few years after the previous version are slim to none, but we couldn’t help thinking of what the model would look like if they did.
While everyone is focused on the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, Infiniti is jumping the gun on the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March by offering the first details on their Electric Sports Car Concept. Nissan’s luxury counterpart has described the ESCC as a highly advanced, range-extending electric sports car that was created to extend the potential for high performance, low emission electric cars.
When explaining the strategy behind the concept, Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd and Infiniti said: "At the Geneva show next year, we will present our vision for a totally new kind of inspired premium performance car. Infiniti already has hybrid and clean diesel models on sale. And with an all-electric sedan on the way, the natural next step was to push the boundaries where performance and the environment intersect."

UPDATE 02/02/2012: Infiniti has announced that the concept car to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show will be called EMERG-E and that it "will be the first car from the brand to not only have a range-extender drivetrain offering vivid performance with zero emissions capability, but also one mounted in a mid-ship package for optimal handling." Underground Racing is quite famous for their extreme tuning kits especially if we are talking about Lamborghini models. For sure you remember the Gallardo Twin Turbo with its 1500 WHP on race fuel. Today is time to watch the supercar showing what it is capable of.
The supercar had a bad start its true, but after 100 mph it caught up with the gear shifting and it went almost perfectly till 236 mph. Now that’s something you won’t see everyday, that we can assure you.
The run has been made at the Moscow unlimited where unfortunately there is not enough track line to go fully top speed still, but the Gallardo TT managed to reached an incredible speed of 236, where by comparison the Bugatti Veyron did 226 mph maximum.
Okay, so this isn’t exactly the most surprising news of the day, but it sure ranks up there with the coolest. Audi is said to be launching a Spyder version for the R8 GT at the Frankfurt Motor Show this Fall. As with the coupe version, the Spyder will be limited to 333 units and should be priced at about $20,000 higher than the coupe, which is sold for about $196,800 in the U.S. The similarities will even extend to the number of units available in the U.S. We last heard that we were getting 90 units of the GT Coupe and we expect the same number for the Spyder version.
Under the hood, Audi will place the same 5.2 liter V10 engine that delivers a total of 560 HP and 398 lbs-ft of torque. The Spyder version will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and will be capable of a top speed of 196.97 mph. Thanks to body parts made in carbon fiber the R8 GT Spyder is 187 lbs lighter and in the same time delivers performance numbers that makes it the top-of-the-line version of the high-performance sports car.
UPDATE 11/16/11: The Audi R8 GT Spyder made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The lightweight, drop-top German supercar will be available in North America beginning next year and will be limited to just 90 units in the region. Audi is planning on building 333 units of the R8 GT Spyder so 90 models in North America is a pretty sizable chunk of the whole inventory. Interested parties should be on their toes so they can be part of the 90 people that can score the German supercar when it becomes available.
UPDATE 02/02/12: Audi of American has announced that the R8 Spyder will be priced at $210,000 plus a $1,200 delivery fee for the US market. Only 50 units will be offered on our side of the pond.

The 2013 Mercedes SL63 AMG hasn’t even made its official debut just yet and already Mercedes is giving the first one away. Okay, technically, they’re not giving it away, but they are certainly not selling it directly to one of their customers. When the first unit of the SL63AMG hits Stateside, Mercedes will be sending it to the Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance Gala for their 6th annual auction on February 25, 2012.
The upcoming SL63 AMG will be powered by a 5.5-liter twin turbo V8 engine that will delivers about 540 HP. A Black Series version will also be offered and has been rumored to deliver more than the current 661 HP version. The model will be distinguished from the standard SL-Class by a more aggressive design including a long hood, AMG wheels, cross-drilled brakes, a rear wing, and new AMG quad exhausts.
