  Sports Cars are engineered to go around corners and straight lines as fast as possible. They are usually expensive, dangerous and so much fun that everybody wants one. Owning a sports car is a gratifying experience but it will cost you money and back pain as they are usually expensive to maintain and not very comfortable. But who cares as they look like supermodels at the beach.

This isn’t an April fools joke, but Porsche already seems focused on the next iteration of the 911 Cabriolet, despite the refreshed version just hitting the market for 2014. What you see here is a 911 Turbo S Cabriolet dressed in very light camo as it rolls down a sleepy European road. And because the new car smell has yet dispersed from the 2014 911, we’d expect Porsche to hold off until 2016 for another refresh, at the earliest.

The noticeable changes include reshaped turn signals up front, new rear heat extractor just aft of the rear tires, reworked taillights, and possibly revised styling on the louvered rear deck lid as evidenced by the metal grates covering them.

Those front turn signals look quite similar to the one found on the 911 we spotted cold-weather testing earlier this year . The shape is just different enough from the current model to be new, yet it still holds that iconic 911 look. Around back seems to be the most heavily modified. It’s hard to tell from these shots, but it appears the heat extractor just behind the rear wheels have been reworked. Instead of the large grille of the current model, these seem to just be slats in the bumper. However, the slats could just be a clever camouflage of the vents underneath.

The taillights look revised as well. Just like the front turn signals, they are covered in a transparent film with oval shapes to break up any discernible pattern underneath. The way the taillights meet the bumper may also be revised since it’s covered in tape. Lastly, metal grates camouflage the louvers over the engine bay. It appears the louvers have been turned to face outward rather than rearward as before.

If you happen to be a fan of our fancy new TopSpeed.com Podcast , you may have noticed that all three of us fancy the Porsche Cayman S and the Alfa Romeo 4C quite a lot. They are both mid-engined cars that are trying to put the enjoyment of driving back into a world that is full of hybrids and a push for self-driving technology.

But which of these two cars is the better choice? Unfortunately nobody on our team has yet had the chance to sample both cars back-to-back, so we will have to settle on the advice from another outlet; enter Chris Harris.

Chris Harris was absolutely in love with the Alfa 4C when he drove it last year in Italy, and he also firmly believes that the Cayman S is possibly the best sports car in the world. In this video we get to ride along as he tries to figure out which one he would rather take home.

The old adage, “no replacement for displacement” continues to hobble along on its last leg these days. And with no thanks to Mercedes , it seems the adage will be getting weaker in 2016. The next version of the C63 AMG will drop the beastly 6.3-liter V-8 for a smaller, more powerful, and likely more efficient twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 making almost 30 more horsepower, bringing the total count to around 480.

Power will still be sent to the rear wheels, though through a traditional automatic transmission and not the 7-speed dual-clutch techno-box in the current C63 AMG . The automaker cites lower costs and a lack of consumer demand for the switch, a Mercedes source told Leftlane News.

The new turbocharged powertrain helps poise the C63 directly against the BMW M3 and M4 pair. Upping the ante even further, Mercedes continued spilling the beans to Leftlane about a range-topping S version that will come with more power, upgraded brakes, and unique visual attributes.

The report continues, indicating the C63 will be offered as a sedan, coupe, convertible, and even a wagon. Of course, the AMG version of each will include performance add-ons, bespoke wheels, stickier rubber, and a sport suspension with a lowered stance. A performance-oriented cabin with heavily bolstered seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, and an AMG-specific instrument cluster will likely be present as well.

We’re expecting the C63 AMG to make its first appearance at the Paris Motor Show this October with sales beginning the last quarter of 2015 as a 2016 model.

Having taken delivery of his brand new McLaren P1 supercar — the first US-spec version to cross the Pond — Jay Leno is probably busy driving Britain’s most anticipated vehicle for the 2014 model year as we speak. And we bet he’s grinning from ear to ear while with all 903 horsepower at his disposal.

Coincidentally, the most recent episode of Jay Leno’s Garage also focuses on a British car. One that comes from a different era and in a package that’s more about lightness and precision handling than extreme horsepower. We’re talking about the Lotus Elan 26R.

Launched in 1963, the Elan was a small sports car that measured only 145 inches in length and tipped the scales at just 1,516 pounds. To draw a better picture of what the Elan was about, the third-gen Mazda MX-5 is about 158 inches long and weighs around 2,500 pounds.

Developed using Colin Chapman’s "simplify, then add lightness" design, the featherweight Elan didn’t need more than a 1.6-liter, inline-four engine and 105 horsepower to take on public roads or race tracks at high speeds. Of course, the tiny vehicle quickly became a popular race car .

Getting back to Jay Leno, he already owned a 1969 Lotus Elan, but his garage lacked a track-prepped 26R. That hole was obviously filled recently, when Jim Hall completed the roadster you’re about to see in the video above. The project started from a regular 1966 Elan, which means we’re not dealing with an authentic 26R, but judging by the amount of work it was put into the roadster, it’s safe to assume that Leno’s right by saying this is "the ultimate Elan".

If you are one of the rarified individuals that spends your time deciding which six-figure watch to wear to work today, you are likely a huge fan of the Robb Report; the magazine dedicated to only the most luxurious and interesting spectacles of consumerism, culture and travel in the world. Now in its 21st year, the Robb Report Car of the Year award has become quite the top prize for high-end automakers like Aston Martin , Bentley and Lamborghini . The winner this year, chosen by the largest percentage of voters ever, was the incredible Ferrari F12berlinetta .

The Robb Report Club, a collection of readers and top executives made up the 100-member-strong judging panel to choose between a collection of machines that included the likes of the Aventador Roadster , M6 Gran Coupe , SRT Viper and much more. Hands down though, the judging team agreed that Ferrari’s monstrous V-12 power, exquisite road-handling abilities and high level of design and craftsmanship held it aloft the competition.

Car paparazzi extraordinaire Shmee150 recently paid a visit to Arash Motorcars , proving once again that when it comes to sniffing out the fastest machines on the planet, this guy is one of the best in the business. His latest video is more like a 30-minute episode of diving into everything and anything that has to do with one of the most highly regarded niche supercar builders in the world.

Speaking with Arash Farboud himself, the two discussed, among other things, the company’s latest pride and joy, the AF8 supercar.

It’s already known in and out of the industry that the AF8 is one shiny piece of metal and carbon fiber with matching performance credentials to boot. The floor of the supercar is actually made from Kevlar-carbon composite to provide “ballistic” protection against stones and road debris, and lest we forget, the AF8 is powered by an insane, GM-sourced, LS7 7.0-liter V-8 that produces 550 horsepower, enough to push the AF8 to 200 mph.

There’s more to just the discussion of the AF8 in this video so we’re advising everyone to watch the whole episode to get a full idea on how Arash has established itself as one of the finest exotic car builders in the world.

Chris Harris is always dependable for having a jolly good time during his video reviews, and this one of the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe is no different. Tire smoke, sideways shenanigans, and fast lap times are a guarantee.

At the beginning, Harris gives an honest opinion of the Jag’s interior. He takes issue with a few points throughout the cockpit, noting the random bit of low-rent materials, miss-matched type fonts, and odd ergonomics. The imperfections are far from a deal breaker though as he can’t seem to get over the F-Type’s exterior aesthetics – especially its “incomprehensibly attractive posterior.”

After a full rundown of the inner bits, Harris gets down to business making the Jag dance around the corners of some picturesque mountain road. The F-Type’s ability to be a subdued Grand Touring car is astonishing given its beastly on-track attributes and unbridled 550 horsepower prancing from its supercharged, 5.0-liter V-8. Even with the traction control off, Harris says the car is so predictable, so well handling that it’s a cinch to drive fast. Getting the tail out is a simple task with 502 pound-feet of torque on tap.

At the track, however, things are even better. With the computer in the right settings and the tires warmed up, the F-Type scoots around with surprising purpose. Its visceral sounds and ostentatious exhaust calls like trumpets of triumph as the Jaguar barrels around corners like it was a Porsche 911 . Its steering, in fact, Harris enjoys more than the 911’s — a car as a whole, he later says, has become “weak" these days.

Harris ends the review by concluding the F-Type might just be the best Jaguar has built since the iconic E-Type of the 1960s. “This is,” he says, “might be the E-Type of my generation.”

Mitsubishi hasn’t had a major piece of the European market in years, but the Japanese brand is still churning out models there. It’s recent one, though, just may be what the company needs to get Europeans’ attention. Just for the UK market, Mitsubishi is unveiling the Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR Special Edition in time to celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary in the UK.

Even if Mitsubishi has struggled to gain some traction in the business, the one model that has been its gleaming beacon of hope has been the Lancer Evolution X . So its no surprise that when it came time to celebrate something special, Mitsubishi tapped its pride and joy to do so with.

The Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR Special Edition comes with a modest amount of cosmetic changes. Outside, bi-xenon headlights, front fog lamps, new wiper blades, and a set of 18-inch, forged BBS alloy wheels are the only thing you’re getting.

Inside, there’s a few more new additions, none fancier than the Recaro-branded leather bucket seats and the Rockford Fosgate premium audio system with an SD card-based music server. That should make it a sweet deal for audiophiles across the pond.

The biggest upgrades, though, come under the hood, which has more than enough to justify why the car has been priced at a pretty steep £50,000, which is about $82,900.

Something is brewing inside Volkswagen’s lab over there in Germany, and if these recent spy photos sent to us by our photographers are any indication, we might be in store for a special-edition Golf GTI sooner than later. The car itself is a little curious because the appearance of this mysterious Golf GTI caught us by surprise, something which you usually attribute to a special-edition model that’s in the middle of testing and development ahead of a unexpected reveal.

If that’s the case, we already know where the car is going, but that still doesn’t take away the fact that this model it’s suspected to be a more performance-oriented version of the Golf GTI. All the elements are certainly there to make that assumption. After all, the car was spotted taking in some hot laps at the Nurburgring and we all know that when somebody’s taking that route, it’s not because they’re in on a joyride.

On top of that, certain markings and components can be clearly seen that leads us to believe that this isn’t your ordinary Golf GTI. For one, there’s a new front lip spoiler, a can’t-miss, roof-mounted rear wing, lowered suspension, and a new set of 18-inch wheels, among other things.

Oh, and if you look just past the doors, you’re going to see a Wiechers sticker plastered on the sheet metal — as good a sign as any that there’s a racing pedigree to this Golf GTI. Wiechers, after all, is a German motorsport company that’s made a name for itself with its track-car parts and reason stands to suggest that there are a lot of Wiechers items inside this Golf GTI.

We’re hitching our wagons on this vehicle being a Golf GTI Club Sport that could make its debut at the 2014 Wörthersee this coming May. The timing seems to fit the schedule, so don’t be surprised if Volkswagen, who has a history of bringing along tuned-up versions of its lineup to Wörthersee, makes the official introduction then.

We haven’t been shy with our affinity for the new Jaguar F-Type . We drooled when it debuted as a roadster . We swooned when the Coupe version came a year later. But now, rumors suggest Jaguar is mulling the possibility of a Club Sport version of the coupe. Think of it as the Camaro Z/28 of the F-Type lineup.

The guys at Motoring.com had a chat with Jaguar’s F-Type Program Director Russ Varney about the possibilities. Quite a few details emerged from the conversation, along with legitimate hopes Jaguar will actually build the thing. “We have three or four things we are looking at for the next developments of the F-TYPE and a lightweight, harder version is a long way up that list,” Varney divulged.

Sales volume is the foremost factor in a project like this, and as Varney mentioned, it would take around 500 cars a year before the project became viable. Cutting weight from the car would likely include heavy uses of carbon fiber, and at 500 cars sold each year, the cost becomes “quite cheap.”

As for how much weight the F-Type will lose, Jaguar is shooting for roughly 440 pounds, dialing the scales back to around 3,230 pounds. Sin Sin ce the car is mainly constructed from aluminum, the chassis will likely remain unchanged. The leather-lined interior, however, affords plenty of room for dieting.

Yet another approach — although not without nay-sayers — may be to use the supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 rather than the monstrous 550-horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8. The weight savings is 156 pounds right off the top. Boosting the power from 380 horses and 339 pound-feet — along with dropping weight — would give the car a distinct advantage. It works for the Z/28, after all.

Varney ended his chat by saying Jaguar would not be following in Lamborghini’s footsteps with making a Club Sport-style roadster. “The coupe is already 33 pounds lighter and people who want these kinds of cars don’t want it as a roadster.”
