Sports Cars are engineered to go around corners and straight lines as fast as possible. They are usually expensive, dangerous and so much fun that everybody wants one. Owning a sports car is a gratifying experience but it will cost you money and back pain as they are usually expensive to maintain and not very comfortable. But who cares as they look like supermodels at the beach.

Toyota has been over the fence and back regarding its plans to build turbocharged, sedan and convertible versions of the GT 86 . Last we heard, poor sales of the sports car scuttled those plans, but now it looks like they’re back on the table.

Motoring Australia is reporting that Toyota is once again hot on the idea of expanding its GT 86 lineup. While no specific plans for the car have been disclosed, there seems to be a growing sentiment within the company that poor sales notwithstanding, Toyota is finally ready to push all of its GT 86 chips in the middle of the table.

It’s a smart move to offer some diversity to the GT 86, which hasn’t earned the same level of sales respect and admiration as its twins, the Subaru BRZ and the Scion FR-S. A convertible version of the GT 86 was even previewed last year with the Open Top Concept so at the very least, we should now what to expect with a future top-down sports coupe.

As for the sedan version, Toyota has big plans for the four-door GT 86, including giving it a duo of engine options. The bid news is that there will be a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which will likely be the Subaru’s 2.5-liter Direct Injection Turbo engine that’s good for more than 295 horsepower. The other engine for the sedan will likely be a hybrid Suby engine, but not the 160-horsepower one found in the XV Crosstrek — you may exhale now... Sources inside Subaru claim that the company is working on a hybrid unit that works with its direct-injected boxer engine.

Another objective for the GT 86 sedan is to have enough room to differentiate it from the coupe. Talks are already in place to make the GT 86 sedan 510 mm (20 inches) longer and 100 mm (3.9 inches) taller than the coupe model. Those are both pretty drastic expansions, so it’ll be interesting to see how the extra size affects the styling.

What’s more, the bad-add 2.5-liter DIT engine that the sedan will receive will also trickle down to the coupe model, according to the report.

The soft-top convertible GT 86, which will retain the current drivetrain, is set to arrive earlier than the sedan, possibly as soon as October 2014. The turbocharged sedan and coupe versions could arrive as early as 2016, and the hybrid model is rumored to arrive a few months later.

Shown in 2001 as a concept and launched in 2006, the Mitsuoka Orochi is about to retire with a Final Edition model. If you’re not familiar with the Orochi, it’s a controversial Japanese sports car with supercar looks that sits on an old Honda NSX platform and uses a 3.3-liter, V-6 engine as motivation.

Sourced from Toyota (it used to power Camry , Avalon and Sienna modes), the unit produces just 233 horsepower making the Orochi not only strange-looking — some might say plain ugly — but not very fast either. Things were a bit better inside, where Mitsuoka offered plenty of leather, Alcantara and a few customization options.

Moving over to the model that’s set to put an end to Orochi production, the Final Edition will be built in just five units and will stand out through a few unique exterior and interior features. Three of these vehicles will be painted in a light Gold Pearl paint, while two of them will wear a dark purple hue dubbed "Fuyoru".

The Subaru BRZ has good bones for an every-man’s sports car . Front engine, rear-wheel drive, manual transmission, and a low starting price help make the BRZ a great bang-for-the-buck choice. But a general consensus among enthusiasts agrees that the little two-door coupe lacks power. And sadly, it seams Subaru isn’t currently doing anything about it; that is, except for Subaru Australia.

In an interview with Motoring.com, Subaru Australia managing director Nick Senior says his local division has been lobbying for an STI version of the car. But in the mean time, Subaru Australia has done its own modifications with items from the STI parts bin. Even though the parts are the same, the car cannot be labeled an STI without being developed by the actual Subaru Tecnica International team.

Subaru Australia’s modified BRZ S Pack went on sale Down Under in 2013 with STI suspension components for better handling and a few sporty cosmetic bits for a unique look.

While it’s hard to blame the blokes for spicing up their own BRZs while begging for an STI version, it’s understandable why Subaru and Toyota haven’t done major modifications to the car. It’s only a few years old and its first refresh is scheduled for 2016. Several reports have confirmed the BRZ and its Toyo twin — the FR-S — will be getting drop-top version in their next life cycle.

Could it be then that an STI version will come along too? We already know the speculation about the 2.0-liter turbocharged Boxer engine from the Forester is a no-go, as the engine simply won’t fit within the engine bay. Some other mode of increasing power would have to be used. While there’s no shortage of aftermarket turbo kits for the BRZ/FR-S, the STI team is quiet on the subject.

Surely Subaru will answer the outcry for a more powerful BRZ with a STI version while Toyota (Scion ) could do the same mods but with a TRD badge slapped on. Here’s for hoping as the time draws nearer for official words about the upcoming 2016 refresh.

The arrival of the BMW 2 Series not only gave BMW a more versatile lineup, but it also paved the way for a powerful M2 variant in the future. Back in 2011, when details first surfaced of a possible M2, nobody had any idea on when the car would arrive. It’s been three years and still the M2 hasn’t arrived. But according to the 2addicts forum, BMW has finally given a specific timetable for the M2, which apparently will now hit production late next year, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2016.

Say what you will about BMW slow-playing the arrival of the M2, but if there’s any truth to these rumors that BMW has finally green lit the M2, the wait is going to be worth it.

Apart from the vehicle’s schedule, 2addicts also indicated that the sports coupe will use the company’s N55, turbocharged, inline-six engine, a slightly more powerful version of what’s found in the M235i Coupe’s engine bay. Whereas the latter was capable of producing 320 horsepower, the M2’s engine is tipped to be around 380 horsepower.

That should provide a little room for both the M235i Coupe and the M2 in the company’s 2 Series lineup to without encroaching on the other one’s sales numbers. It looks like BMW is confident that both models can co-exist with one another, but the company chose not to dive into more details about the M2. Despite the lacking details, we bet that the M2 will also get a more premium feel than the M235i, and a suspension closer to that of the M3 and M4 ..

That should be in the cards if Bimmer wants its customers to appreciate the M2 as its own model. Moving forward, all of us can keep an eye out on the development of the M2, which according to 2addicts, will carry the codename "pyrat2," succeeding the "pyrat" nickname given to the 1M Coupe.

Aston Martin and True Motion Pictures worked together to conceive an exquisite, ethereal and vivid short film called “The Art of Vanquish,” highlighting elegance of the flagship model – Aston Martin Vanquish .

The super-luxurious Vanquish is filmed amidst the prime locations exhibiting the grandeur of the two-door coupe . It’s kind of hard to make out exactly the message the short film is trying to get across, but damn is that car sexy. In the background plays the mechanical sound of handmade V-12 engine along with few refined words igniting the deep sense and affection for the Vanquish.

Aston Martin Vanquish has a long history. The car replaced Virage in 2001, and the range expanded in 2004 when the company introduced Vanquish S and V-12. In 2007, the DBS replaced the Vanquish range, but the Vanquish’s hibernation came to an end when the model was revived in 2012 to replace the DBS, marking Aston’s 100-year anniversary.

We’ve already gushed over the Volkswagen Scirocco and expressed dismay about the car’s absence in America. So it does sound like we are gluttons for punishment because we now present to you the Scirocco featuring Volkswagen’s always attractive R-Line equipment package. Just don’t judge us when if start crying on our keyboards because we can’t get a chance to enjoy the Scirocco R-Line.

Volkswagen’s pretty smart about how its approached the Scirocco. It knows that the sports hatch is a popular sell in Europe so by leaving out a few aesthetic and aerodynamic components, it can create an R-Line package that Scirocco customers will be rushing to buy.

Take a look at the exterior goodies that come with the Scirocoo’s R-Line package. It includes flared sills, fog lights, R-Line front and rear bumpers, ventilation grilles in the rear, a rear spoiler, black grille with an R-Line logo and a new set of 18-inch "Salvador" alloy wheels. The Scirocco’s R-Line package brings out a sportier and more aggressive side of the Scirocco that not a lot of people knew existed.

Inside, more upgrades are in store from the R-Line package, including fancy cloth upholstery with Alcantara bolsters, black headliner, "Carbon Touch" inlays, a leather sports steering wheel with the R-Line logo, Piano Black radio bezel. steering wheel accents and door pull handles, stainless-steel pedals, and aluminum sill plates that also feature the R-Line logo.

Optional add-on equipment includes a Leather Package Vienna that comes with R-Line logos, Crystal Grey stitching, heated seats, electric lumbar adjustment and a smattering of chrome accents, and a multifunction steering wheel.

The exterior package will set you back an extra €2,060 ($2,857), while the interior package checks in at €845 ($1,171). Taken together, the whole package is available at a total price of €3,231, which is a little $4,481based on current exchange rates. Opting for the Leather Package Vienna adds another €2,195 ($3,044).

With so many cars promising the world these days, British sports car brand Trident is promising something completely different with the Iceni Magna, a fastback-styled sports coupe that not only runs on a diesel engine, but also features torque multiplication technology, allowing to reach a top speed of 190 mph with a capability to cover 2,000 miles on a single tank.

Such a promise will definitely raise some eyebrows, but Trident is welcoming the curiosity because it believes it has a technology that could go a long way in redefining how automakers work on future powertrains. According to Trident, properly utilizing a car’s torque numbers to "multiply" its effectiveness improves its car’s performance and efficiency by up 20 percent. It’s a technology that Trident has patented, so it certainly has enough faith in what it’s created to take the time to secure the intellectual rights to it.

So that’s what we’re going to see on the Trident Iceni Magna. It’s got an impressive look with splashes of retro inspiration and adding to that, a powertrain technology that promises loads of speed and efficiency the likes of which we haven’t seen before.

Trident has said that availability for the model is limited and demand is pretty high, surprising for a brand that’s not that well-known. Its demand is fairly obvious by its steep starting price of £96,000, which is about $161,500 based on current exchange rates.

The Volkswagen Golf Mk VII is one of our favorite sports hatchbacks for a reason. it’s combination of sporty styling and aggressive performance capabilities has made into one of the finest hot hatches on the market. But even with what it already has, there’s always room for improvement. That’s where MTM comes into the picture with its new program for the Golf R Mk VII that makes it even more maddening out on the road.

MTM is one of Germany’s finest tuners with a specific touch of expertise on Volkswagen models. So, when the company announces that it has a new Golf R 4Motion program to share, we take notice. After all, when you have a pocket rocket like the Golf with 300 ponies already under its hood, you’re interested to see what kind of magic MTM can work.

The result is pretty incredible. Using its famed M-Cantronic module, MTM was able to turn an already powerful sports hatch into a truly mind-blowing thrill ride, improving the hatchback’s output to a tidy 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque — 64 horsepower and 52 pound-feet more than the base Golf R. MTM claims a 0-to-62-mph time of 4.2 seconds with the DSG transmission, which is a huge drop from its stock 4.9-second sprint time. Top speed remains unchanged at 155 mph.

What’s more, this kit takes just 90 minutes to install and will only set you back €2,055 ($2,842) installed.

It hasn’t been long since we’ve shown you footage of a Nissan GT-R Spec-V burning on the Nurburgring track and, unfortunately, we have to get back on the "sports cars on fire" topic with a Ferrari FF as the main character.

It’s widely known that Ferraris are likely to go up in flames if handled inappropriately, but the FF shooting brake wasn’t one of them. At least not to the same extent as the 458 Italia , which had to be recalled after several models burned to a crisp.

Ferrari FF fires have been isolated for now, with the previous incident having occurred in Poland a couple of years ago, but, as of today, the number of FFs totaled by flames increased by one. It all happened in Hong Kong, where an owner lost its beloved vehicle shortly after exiting a tunnel.

According to local reports, the fire started from the FF’s engine compartment, with smoke quickly turning into a fire that spread rapidly by swallowing both the nose of the car and the interior. There’s no official word as to what may have caused the fire, but it’s believed it may have something to do with an electrical short.

Interestingly enough, the FF in question was being delivered to its owner after being inspected at the local Ferrari service center the day before.
