  Sports Cars are engineered to go around corners and straight lines as fast as possible. They are usually expensive, dangerous and so much fun that everybody wants one. Owning a sports car is a gratifying experience but it will cost you money and back pain as they are usually expensive to maintain and not very comfortable. But who cares as they look like supermodels at the beach.

Toyota GT 86

During an interview with AutoCar at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show , Toyota ’s senior manager for drivetrain engineering, Koei Saga, confirmed that the company is currently developing a hybrid GT 86 sports car for testing. According to him, the development is "quite advanced now" and that it is just awaiting a green light from top Toyota officials.

He also hinted that this GT 86 hybrid could use a combination of the hybrid systems currently used by Toyota in both road and track cars: "We are quite prepared because we do have a hybrid system that we can use for that kind of vehicle, utilizing the production passenger car hybrid system, and we also have the pure race-oriented hybrid system. So I think it won’t be very far in the future that the green light will come."

Still, it is pretty difficult to make any assumptions on the hybrid system that the GT 86 would use, because a boxer engine and an electric motor have never been combined in this manner. Also, the hybrid GT 86 would most likely retain a manual transmission "to maintain driver appeal," which can make tying the gas and electric components together even trickier. Because the batteries add significant weight, the initial plans have engineers putting the batteries as low as possible, which will lower the car’s center of gravity and allow it to retain its sporty feel.

Remember, folks, this is all still just in the "planning" phase and likely nothing has moved beyond computerized simulations, so don’t start placing orders just yet.

Every major auto show that Brabus goes to, you can expect that at least one of its programs will be dedicated to the billing "fastest-something-in-the-world".

At the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show , that distinction falls on the capable shoulders of the 2013 Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake .

If you thought that station wagons are merely characterized as family cars, Brabus’ 850 6.0 Biturbo program will throw that notion right out of the window with the fury of a car running 800 horsepower worth of output.

That’s what makes this Brabus program for the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake such a mouthful to digest. Sure, it already has the performance credentials to be called a powerful car, but the German tuner takes it to a whole new level normally reserved for exotic coupes.

Then again, we shouldn’t be surprised anymore because Brabus does it over and over again, and the results have been nothing less than spectacular.

"Q by Aston Martin " is a bespoke personalization program unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The first models customized with this program were the Virage and the Cygnet, and now Aston Martin turned its attention to the new Vanquish Volante .

Unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show , this customized Vanquish Volante Q features an unique Red Ember exterior paint combined with a Gulf Orange-painted front and rear splitters, and gloss-black waist rail finisher. The interior is wrapped in a bronze metallic leather, giving the cabin a sweet look.

Of course, while this is the model that hit the Frankfurt Show for the show, the new Q by Aston Martin personalization program allows customers to choose from nearly any imaginable colors or materials.

According to Aston Martin, with the new Vanquish Volante Q, it wanted to demonstrate how "flexible we can be as we strive to create bespoke treatments for new cars."

As the Jaguar product renaissance continues full-steam ahead with the XQ-type crossover’s reveal, there is even more excitement back home with the debut of the Eagle Low Drag GT.

Sharing the lawn with dozens of other priceless exotics, the Eagle Low Drag GT applies the same priceless supercar restoration and upgrade that makes its Speedster such a showstopper.

Finished in gorgeous hand-polished aluminum for the panels and chassis, the Low Drag GT revives one of the most celebrated Jaguar racing concepts ever: a fastback E-type that was wider, more powerful and far more streamlined than any production Jaguar coupe from then or now.

The original E-type was many things during its prime, including a super-rapid, high-speed express that could reach huge top speeds for a fraction of the price of its competition from Italy.

For all this beauty and heritage that flows into the F-type today, the E-type was surprisingly never a truly successful racing machine or a good-looking two-seat coupe.

As Jaguar puts the final touches on the F-type Coupe ahead of its arrival this spring, the Eagle Low Drag GT is the perfect example of Jaguar fastback style.

With pricing likely to be in the seven digits and a total production run of perhaps five cars, the 2013 Eagle Low Drag GT writes a new chapter in the celebrated Jaguar E-type legacy.

The folks over at Edmunds.com had the chance to test two of the greatest sports cars out there: a 2014 Corvette Stingray equipped with the Z51 package and a 2014 Nissan GT-R updated with the Track Edition package package. They pushed the cars to their limits in testing the 0-to-60 mph time, quarter-mile time, braking distances, slalom runs and skip pad ratings.

Of course, the GT-R dominated the 0-to-60 mph and quarter-mile runs, but the rest was so close that it really was a tight competition. In fact, the two were so close that the final decision really came down to which car was more fun to drive.

Check out the above video to see which of these two performance rigs came out on top. You may be shocked by the winner, but we certainly are not, as the winner is one of our favorite cars of 2014.

TopCar announced its participation in the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show with a pretty cool tuning kit based on the new-generation Porsche 911 Carrera 4S . The kit is called Stinger and for customers interested, it can be ordered at a price of €14,280 (about $19,000 at the current exchange rates).

The new Stinger kit is mainly focused on updating the exterior look of the 911 Carrera 4S , and offers a sporty and powerful aerodynamic kit. Thanks to all the changes it received, the 911 Carrera 4S Stinger does not only look more aggressive and speedy, but also sits lower and wider, thanks to the new shape of the front and rear bumpers.

The kit also includes a new hood, some extra spoilers, plus some updates to the interior, depending on the personal taste of the customer. The car sits on new wheels from ADV.1.

When Chevrolet unveiled the 2014 Corvette Stingray , we were a little bit disappointed we have to admit. Chevrolet chose to drop the typical elegance that the model oozed and made the new Stingray more aggressive looking than it has ever been. That wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it will take a little time for us to adjust to it.

Despite the shocking looks, Chevrolet righted all the wrongs in the drivetrain and on the technology front. According to Matt Farah, who had the chance to test the C7 Stingray in the Monterey, CA during the Pebble Beach week, it is certainly an amazing car. The best part is that he had the chance to tack a full 300 miles on it, so he got a pretty good idea of just how great the Stingay it is.

The model he tested was equipped with the Z51 package, which adds a dry-sump oiling system, slightly shorter gear ratios, larger-capacity Bilstein dampers, a rear-stabilizer bar and forged rims.

Apparently all these changes transformed the Corvette into a dream car, as Farah said: "It’s so good it’s practically unbelievable, and for the first time ever, Corvette owners won’t have to make excuses."

The 2014 STI risks getting lost in the shuffle of the next-gen WRX ’s launch at this fall’s Los Angeles auto show . As is customary for Subaru when upgrading the Impreza -based models, the next-gen STI will follow the regular WRX as a projected 2016 model year intro.

That is more than enough time to fall in love again with the current model’s brash styling, forceful turbocharged power delivery, and better tech integration in the cockpit than ever before. 305 horsepower and a 4.7-second sprint to 60 mph means the WRX STI is still a favorite here in the TopSpeed Garage .

Introduced for 2011, the current STI’s strength as a Subaru performance flagship is fully intact. As a low-volume model, its boxer rumble casts a performance glow over even the base $18,000 Impreza sedan. No changes to the STI for 2014, aside from the audio system now offering integration of Aha’s music app.

First-hand driving impressions of this track toy are included, as are comparisons with the WRX STI’s potent competition from the BMW 135i and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution .

Is not the first time we hear of a designer that used to work for a major automaker trying to launch a sports car of his own. The latest one is the ex-Caterham boss, Ansar Ali, who started the Zenos brand and wants to develop a new sports car based on the Lotus Elise -sized platform.

The new model currently goes by the name "Project E10," and is powered by a Ford -sourced 2.0-liter engine that delivers a total of 197 horsepower. Ansar Ali is shooting for the E10 to weight only 650 kg (1,433 pounds), so those 197 ponies should be enough to give the E10 a power-to-weight ratio of about 296 horsepower per tonne. For the future, Ali plans to offer more powerful versions too.

The new E10 is built on an aluminum-tubular chassis and features a body made from recycled carbon sheets.

More on the E10 will come as Ali and Zenos get close to releasing a concept, and we will keep you updated with all of the information as it rolls out.

Updated 12/18/2013: Zenos Cars officially confirmed today that the ultra-light E10 sports car will be officially unveiled next month at Europe’s largest dedicated motorsport trade show, Autosport International. The E10 will go into production in late 2014 and first customers will receive their car in early 2015. More details on the Zenos E10 after the jump.

Toyota’s promise of showcasing its Le Mans hybrid technology on a road car will come to fruition at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show , as it prepares to unveil the Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R Concept.

This new concept may seem unimposing when you read that it is based on a Yaris — blah — but save your judgement for something else because this is one sick miniature hatchback. With a TS030 -inspired drivetrain in tow that cranks out in excess of 400 ponies, this is not your typical grocery getter.

This bad boy will likely give plenty of supercars a run for their money while hauling a few gallons of milk, a loaf of bread and laundry detergent all at the same time. All of the details are not available yet, but Toyota has released all that we need to know to be able to chalk this one up and a certified bad-ass.

Toyota will unveil the concept on September 10th at 12:45 p.m. in Hall 8.
