SRT->ke4431 has unveiled at the Spring Fest the special-edition Charger SRT 392 - a model limited to only 392 units that hit showrooms earlier this year. It is available in five exterior colors: Bright White, Billet Silver, Plum Crazy, HEMI Orange, and TorRed.

Far more than just adding some color to the already unabashedly charismatic Charger SRT, the 392 Package also gives the muscle car some added attitude. Not that it needs ay more attitude, but when you're in a market that also includes the Ford Mustang->ke428 and the Chevrolet Camaro->ke248, any sort of extra sizzle is a wonderful thing.

No performance modifications are included in the Charger SRT 392 package but that's not why you're going to spend another $2,495 to avail of the add-on. The Charger SRT 392 package is all about turning the Dodge muscle car from frighteningly awesome to frighteningly awesome with some spitting attitude to boot.

Interior

Except for the exclusive serialized dash plaque that displays the production build number, the interior of the Charger SRT 392 remains virtually the same as the SRT8 model.

What you do get is a slew of goodies, including a full-color graphic Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) with exclusive Performance Pages includes timers for 0 to 60 mph, eighth-mile and quarter-mile times, 60 to 0 braking distance, along with lateral and longitudinal G-forces within the touchscreen display.

There's also an 8.4-inch touchscreen display nestled on the instrument panel carrying the same Performance Pages date of the EVIC. This one, though, has been expanded to include more relevant data, including steering angle, horsepower and torque outputs, and engine gauges.

Drivetrain

The Charger SRT 392 will come with a standard powertrain common to the Charger SRT model. What that means is that this special trim model will receive a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine that develops 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque across a wide rpm range.

Whit those output numbers, the Charger SRT 392 is capable of hitting 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds to go with a quarter mile time of around 12 seconds and a 0-100-0 mph time of less than 16 seconds. Top speed has been measured at 175 mph and stopping power from 60-0 mph is at just 120 feet.

Pricing

Dodge has priced the 392 Appearance Package at $2,495. Tack that on the Charger SRT's MSRP price of $45,250 and you're looking at a total price of $47,745, plus $995 for destination.

Competition

It goes without saying that any discussion of American muscle has to have the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro in the conversation. Although all three models bring something distinctive to the table, muscle car always points to what's under each of these model's hoods.

2014 Ford Mustang GT

The Mustang GT, in particular, slots right into the Charger SRT's wheelhouse, thanks to its 5.0-liter V-8 engine that produces 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque to go with a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed of close to 170 mph.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS

As a completely refreshed model, the 2014 Camaro SS can lay claim to being the best value for your money. It's revised styling is more aggressive than past models and it still packs quite an impressive engine in its own right: a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 426 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, good enough to hit 60 mph in around 5 seconds with an estimated top speed of 155 mph.

Conclusion

Although purely offered for aesthetic improvements, the Charger SRT 392 does have all the unique enhancements that can set it apart from a standard Charger SRT. In addition to the colors, those who avail the package will have a number of styling advancements that'll make for a truly unique American muscle.
