Of course, everyone knows that the Volkswagen Golf V Variant is just a family car designed to take the kids to school and help you transport some groceries.

The kit consists in a front bumper, a front grille in GTI style, side skirts, a roof soiler and 19” alloy wheels. The engine remained untouched in order to keep the safety of the family.

To appeal to young drivers, Toyota launched a complete line of vehicles in 2004. This new brand is called Scion . Their hope was to repeat the Lexus success story with the Scion. Don’t ask me what Scion means or where it comes from, but after only 4 years in the US, you will have a hard time to find a teenager who doesn’t know or want a Scion.

TheAudi A3 , offered in the USA exclusively with the five-door body style, raises its sporty profile with a raft of improvements and an accentuated design. Innovative technologies such as the S tronic dual-clutch transmission and Audi magnetic ride, the suspension control system, makes for even greater driving pleasure.

Its sharper, more striking design lends even greater expression to the A3. Dealer deliveries will coincide with the change of the model year, around September 2008, with pricing and equipment not yet finalized for the USA.

Audi is bringing the five-door A3 onto the U.S. market with two different gasoline engines. The 2.0 TFSI has 200 hp, while the 3.2 quattro with its six cylinders musters 250 hp.

Pricing and equipment will be available in Fall 2008 upon arrival at U.S. dealers.

Audi unveiled today the new Audi A3 and A3 Sportback. Innovative technologies such as the S tronic dual-clutch transmission with seven speeds and Audi magnetic ride, the suspension control system, makes for even greater driving pleasure. Its sharper, more striking design lends even greater expression to the A3 family.

Audi A3

Audi is bringing the A3 and A3 Sportback onto the market with eight different engines – five gasoline and three diesel versions. Six of them are pioneering four-cylinder direct injection units with turbocharging.

The 1.6 unit develops 102 hp, the 1.4 TFSI 125 hp, the 1.8 TFSI 160 hp and the 2.0 TFSI 200 hp, while the 3.2 quattro with its six cylinders musters 250 hp. The 1.9 TDI delivers 105 hp and the 2.0 TDI 140 hp or 170 hp, depending on specification. Both two-liter diesel engines have been extensively reengineered – a new common rail injection system now assures ultra-refined running.

The 1.6-liter gasoline engine can also be supplied in conjunction with manual transmission for low-cost running on ethanol E 85 fuel. The diesel with an output of 105 hp is the power unit of the extremely efficient 1.9 TDI e version which, thanks to special fine-tuning measures, clocks up 100 kilometers on a mere 4.5 liters of diesel (52.27 mpg).

Audi A3

The dynamic range-topping member of the A3 family sports new features, too. There is now a second top model on the market, with the S3 Sportback joining the three-door Audi S3. Both versions are equipped with the same engine, the reengineered 2.0 TFSI with an output of 265 hp. With 258.15 lb-ft of torque available constantly from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm, the direct-injection, two-liter turbo catapults the three-door model from 0 to 62.14 mph in 5.7 seconds (Sportback: 5.8 seconds); the top speed is limited electronically to 155.34 mph.

Behind this long, fastidious name there is actually a Maserati Quattroporte transformed into a station wagon by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozeria Touring Superleggera.

No, it’s not a mistake! The well-known German tuner Irmscher specialized in customizing Opel vehicles has recently broadened its horizons. The tuning company made a partnership with Peugeot in order to apply its tuning experience also on the French manufacturer’s vehicles. The first vehicle which benefited from these new horizons was the Peugeot 4007 SUV , first shown at 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Then in order to support Peugeot’s 2008 Le Mans entry with the 908 HDI FAP the new partnership produced the RC Line for the entire Peugeot model range. Now the German tuning company is showing a special kit for the Peugeot 407SW which includes: special chrome grill, front spoiler extension, side skirts, roof spoiler and 18” alloy wheels.

A few days ago we were reporting that the estate version of the Fiat 500 (the 500 Giardiniera) will debut in 2009 and will come to compete with Mini Clubman. And now, here are the first spy shots to prove that the car is really under production.

Under the hood there will be the standard 500’s engine range: an entry-level 69bhp 1.2-litre petrol unit, a more power-ful 100bhp 1.4-litre and a 75bhp 1.3-litre Multijet diesel. An Abarth version is also under production.

When Fiat launched the 500 on 4th of July 2007 they also announced another 2 version are on the work: a convertible version and an estate version. The second one, the estate version is set to be unveiled in 2009 at the Geneva Motor Show with sales to begin later after. It will come to compete with MINI Clubman.

The compact estate is inspired by the small load-lugger from the Sixties, and could even carry the same Giardiniera badge worn by that model. Fiat will keep development costs to a minimum by using the same front end and wheelbase as found on the hatch. However, a slightly longer rear overhang, a more upright tail and a pair of neat alloy roof rails will set the new model apart.

Volkswagen is now offering its Golf Estate with permanent all-wheel drive. The 4Motion system is coupled to an economical yet high-torque turbodiesel generating 77 kW. This gives the Golf Estate TDI 4Motion, which is available with immediate effect, the best possible grip even on an uninterrupted blanket of snow. As a general rule, permanent all-wheel drive improves cornering forces even on a dry carriageway, thus making a positive contribution to active safety and driving pleasure.

Volkswagen Golf Variant 4Motion

The Golf Estate TDI 4Motion is equipped as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox. An electronically controlled Haldex clutch distributes the forces between the front and rear axles. This coupling is integrated directly into the rear axle to allow a variable distribution of forces. In extreme situations, practically 100 percent of the drive forces can be transmitted via the rear axle.
