Along with the WRX STI tS and A-Line tS, the Japanese market will also be receiving the Impreza WRX STI spec C to throw in all of our faces. This new version is already on sale in the Land of the Rising Sun. The Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec C version is distinguished by an aluminum engine hood, laminar window glasses, and a downsized battery, all successful in reducing the vehicle’s overall weight. The newly-designed lightweight 18-inches alloy wheels are also brand-spanking new and are wrapped in Bridgestone POTENZA RE070 tires in 245/40R18 dimensions. Recaro seats with SRS front side airbags and SRS curtain airbags are available as an option. Thanks to an optimized ECU programming, new ball-bearings for the twin-scroll turbocharger, and the reduced weight, the 2.0 liter turbo engine now delivers a total of 304 HP and 430 NM of torque. The new spec C also gets colored "brembo" brake calipers and specially tuned front and rear suspensions that help the chassis offer stable and linear driving control even in marginal driving conditions. Press release after the jump. Press release Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, today introduced the "Subaru Impreza WRX spec C", a new addition to the current WRX STI line-up. The model goes on sale today through Subaru dealerships in Japan. The twin scroll turbocharger newly adopted ball bearings for the turbine axle bearing, and the ECU (Engine Control Unit) program was also exclusively tuned. Thus the engine of the spec C model increases the maximum torque, and provides quicker response and improved accelerating performance. The adoption of an aluminum engine hood, laminar window glasses and a downsized battery resulted in a lighter body, which further refines the model’s driving performance. Thanks to its specially tuned front & rear suspensions, the chassis offers stable and linear driving control even in marginal driving conditions. As with all things ugly, they later grow on you! Better headlights. Still awaiting best ever interior ever seen in a Subaru! Maybe the sexy Scooby coupe can deliver? We’ll see.

I think I’ve already decided I’m buying new though...I’ve had one bad experience buying a sports car used, and that was enough to make me want to not do it again.
If it’s lighter and more responsive, thats effectively a horsepower increase, but even better because a it yields an increased power to weight ratio, even if only slightly. In this size car, midrange (usable) torque increase is just as important if not more, usually makes for a significant difference in driving experience.
