A Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) is a type of passenger vehicle which combines the load-hauling and passenger-carrying capacity of a large station wagon or minivan with features designed for off-road driving. They have been the hot car to own for the past 10 years, but lately they are regarded as gas guzzler and substantially dangerous because of high potential to roll over.

High powered SUVs don’t come any better than Mercedes ML63 AMG . The German automaker’s resident sports utility vehicle has also become quite the appealing lot for aftermarket tuning companies, including RevoZport.

Adept at building aerodynamic kits as well as performance modifications, RevoZport’s program for the ML63 AMG, called the Rezonance ML, certainly fits into that mold. Aesthetically, the M63 AMG was treated to a new aero kit that includes a twin-deck carbon fiber front splitter to go with a roof spoiler, a finned diffuser section, and 30mm wheel arch extensions that enhances the visual appeal of the German SUV by giving it a more aggressive stance. Fittingly, those wheel arches also help in fitting a new set of 22" bespoke forged alloy wheels wrapped in 335-section tires.

RevoZport also gave the ML63 AMG a pretty sturdy engine modification, thanks to a remapped ECU software and the installation of a new carbon induction system and a complete titanium exhaust system, netting the SUV an output of 600 horsepower, an increase from the standard SUV’s output of 518 horsepower.

Audi Q3 S/RS

Earlier this year at the Beijing Auto Show Audi has unveiled the Q3 RS concept that previews the production version for a more powerful, sportier Audi Q3 . The Q3 RS has been confirmed for an official debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, just two months after the RS7 will also be joining the lineup.

Details on a production version Audi Q3 RS are still limited, but we presume it will borrow most of its design elements and technology from the concept version. Under the hood we will see a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine tuned to produce 355 horsepower, while the exterior will be distinguished by the usual RS design elements, including a black honeycomb grille, tinted headlights, a new bumper with graping air intakes, and a new set of larger, aluminum wheels.

Until we will get the final details on the upcoming Q3 RS check our new rendering to make an idea on how the sporty SUV will look like.

BMW X5

The third generation BMW X5 has been caught testing in many times, but the prototype caught testing today is wearing less camouflage then ever. The problem is that the cammo has been dropped in such a manner that is doesn’t actually show any important detail.

For the next X5 , BMW will focus on reducing the SUV’s total weight by at least 330 lbs and reducing fuel economy. For this BMW will be using all the technologies developed in the past few years, but also, as a first for the X5, they will be offering two new four-cylinder engines. top version will still be offered with the usual 4.4 liter V8 engine with improved figures and reduced fuel consumption. BMW will also be offering a M version powered by a twin-turbo V8 delivering some 560 horsepower. A plug-in hybrid version has also been rumored.

Rumors say the third generation BMW X5 will be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

The current generation RAV4 has been sale since 2005 and the only update was in 2009 when it received a mild refresh. It is no surprise that today, at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, Toyota decided to finally unleash the fourth generation RAV4. The new SUV has been caught testing in many times and teased a few more times, so we can say it brings nothing that we did not expect.

The new RAV4 is not only redesigned both inside and outside, but it also receives new in-cabin technologies, a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine, new six-speed transmission and new safety features.

While building the new RAV4 , Toyota will use the same body-engineering principles previously used on the 2012 Camry and 2013 Avalon that helps improve steering and handling, and makes the car a little bit lighter.

The new generation Toyota RAV4 will go on sale early in 2013 in three well-equipped grades: LE, XLE and Limited.

Now that we have officially seen the new Mercedes G65 AMG and G63 AMG models, the German tuner A.R.T. decided to update their look a little bit. The biggest changes were made under the hood, but the exterior and the interior also receive pretty significant updates. First deliveries will be made in January 2013 and prices will be announced at a later date.

In the powertrain department, the tuner reprogrammed the ECU and installed high-flow catalytic converters and additional cooling systems for engine, fuel circuit and transmission. Along with these updates, the A.R.T. also installed a new stainless-steel sport exhaust system with three end pipes per side. As a result, the output for the G65 has been increased from 612 ponies to 749 horsepower and for the G63, it went from 544 horsepower to 681 horses.

The British tuner, Kahn Design, has unveiled a new aesthetic kit for the Range Rover Evoque . This shouldn’t surprise you, considering Kahn is unveiling a new kit each Friday. The new Evoque RS250 kit is painted the most famous color used by Lamborghini : Green Pearl.

The exterior kit includes the usual updates that Kahn offers up, meaning a new front and rear bumpers, larger air vents, new side skirts, and a lower boot lid. The Evoque’s Green Pearl color is combined with gloss black on the chin spoiler, the rear diffuser, front grille vents, side vents and the racing stripes on the hood. The car sits on a set of 22-inch Kahn RS-XF wheels that are complemented by brake calipers finished in black.

The dashboard also features Alcantara with Green Pearl contrast stitching and the same combination continues on the center glove box, transmission tunnel, speedo and rev counter and dashboard. However, as usual, Kahn Design will offer its customers the possibility to express their own personality by choosing from a wide range of colors and materials.

Just in time for the holidays, Land Rover has released a special edition version of the Freelander 2 , called the Black and White Edition. Makes for a nice holiday present, right?

Although there aren’t any performance enhancements, the Freelander 2 Black and White Edition differentiates itself to standard models of its kind through a list of aesthetic and aerodynamic enhancements, beginning with two color options that are based on the name it’s been given: Santorini Black or Fuji White.

Other enhancements include a gloss-black front grille, door handles and side vents. The SUV also has privacy glass, heated side-view mirrors, exclusive LED running lights and rides on a set of 17-inch split-spoke alloy wheels. Inside, the Freelander 2 Black and White Edition comes with Ebony black cloth upholstery, power windows, 60-40 folding rear seats, eight-speaker audio system, seven airbags and Bluetooth connectivity.

Whether you opt for the front-wheel-drive or the four-wheel drive variant, both versions come with a 2.2-liter diesel engine, although the former has a 2.2-liter eD4 whereas the latter has a 2.2-liter TD4 diesel. Both versions produce 148 horsepower. The both engines come standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but you can opt for a six-speed automatic on the TD4 engine. The front-wheel-drive model squeezes out a respectable 47.1 miles per gallon and emits 158g/km of CO2. The four-wheel-drive model returns 45.6 miles per gallon and 165g/km of CO2.

All in all, Land Rover is building 600 units of the Freelander 2 Black and White Edition and have priced he eD4 model at £22,495 ($29,415) while the TD4 model retails for £23,495 ($30,700). We do not expect to see this model in the U.S., unfortunately.

The exterior color combination, which includes black paint combined with Vesuvius matte orange on the roof and bonnet – is simply incredible. The new-generation Land Rover Range Rover is already receiving its second tuning kit — the first one came from Lumma Design — courtesy of Hofele Design. Hofele’s package has been dubbed "Royster GT 500" and updates the exterior and the engine of the SUV.

Under the hood is where we are most impressed, as the tuner added a power kit that can be applied to all the engines in the lineup and will increase their respective output by about 20 percent. For the 4.4-liter V-8 engine, for example, the final output number ends up at 410 horses and 531 pound-feet — up from the engine’s standard 339 horsepower and 442 lb-ft.

On the exterior Hofele added an additional front spoiler, new designed door panels with "bubbles," and painted the front grille and the new rear apron diffuser in matte black. There is also a new exhaust system with 4-tube stainless steel tailpipes in the style of "interlaced double oval,” plus a set of "Reverso II" wheels sized 9-by-20 inches and 10-by-22 inches. The tuner also installed an electric lowering module that can lower the car by up to 40 mm (1.5 inches) at speeds up to 50 mph.

For the interior, customers will get "Bi-Colour" leather in "Star-Light" design combined with lots of decorative elements.

According the Hofele, this upgrade is quick and easy to install, and requires no major modifications. It will be launched in February or March of 2013. Stay tuned for pricing!
