The new BMW M5 has been out for quite some time, but this may actually be the first time we see Richard Hammond from Top Gear behind the wheel of the sports sedan. He recently took it out for a test spin and seemed to rather enjoy himself, which isn’t surprising considering the BMW M5 has all the tools needed for an invigorating driving experience!
For those of you who still don’t know, the M5 is powered by a high-revving 4.4-liter V8 engine with an M TwinPower Turbo package that delivers an impressive 560 hp at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 502 lb-ft from 1,500 rpm. The model will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and, when the speed limiter is removed, is capable of hitting an impressive top speed of 190 mph.
There’s been a number of stars to sit behind the wheel of Top Gear’s "Reasonably Priced Car," but this week’s celebrity may have a leg up on his competitors. On Sunday, March 18, 2012, Formula One race car driver, Kimi Raikkonen, will try to set his best lap around the Top Gear test track and get to spend some time with the Stig.
Obviously, the Stig didn’t have much to say during the whole ordeal, but Jeremy Clarkson told Raikkenon that the Stig was one of his biggest fans. To that, Raikkenon replied that the Stig had the best job because he could drive cars and not have to talk. Future Stig in the making? Maybe.
All that aside, this teaser video shows part of the interview with Kimi Raikkenon, as well as some shots of him calmly taking his lap around the track. How did he fare in a car that is nothing like the Formula One cars he is used to driving? Check out Top Gear on Sunday to find out!
A show like Top Gear invites so many risks, especially when it comes to doing stunts on moving objects traveling at great speeds on the road.
Or sometimes, in the sky.
What you are watching isn’t a stunt, nor is it the result of digital effects. That, ladies and gentlemen, is an actual AH1 Cobra military helicopter that’s on its way to crashing. The accident took place at the Coolidge Airport in Coolidge, Arizona while filming a high-profile stunt for the first episode of Top Gear Korea. You might be wondering what Top Gear Korea is doing filming in the US, but that’s inconsequential at this point.
What’s important is that while the scene looks incredibly scary, nobody was seriously injured or killed when the helicopter slammed into the ground. Everything was going smoothly until the pilot of the chopper lost control of his bird, sending it hurtling down the ground faster than anybody could yell "watch out!"
According to Coolidge Police Chief Joe Brugman, the pilots walked out of the crash relatively unscathed after helicopter’s safety gear sprung into action moments before the helicopter hit the ground. No word yet on whether there were any mechanical failures from the retired chopper that could have led to the accident, but at this point, we’re relieved that nobody was seriously harmed from the entire debacle.
In the latest episode of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson got behind the wheel of one of the most impressive sports cars of the moment: a
Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. But he didn’t just test drive it; Clarkson put it up against Maserati’s GranTurismo MC Stradale to see how it would fair. The result was an impressive show.
As a refresher: The C63 AMG Black Series is powered by a 6.3 liter V8 engine that delivers a total of 510 HP and a peak torque of 457 lb-ft. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds and can hit a top speed of 155 mph.
If just last week we brought you a trailer video for the Top Gear Season 18, today is time to watch the full episode 1. That of course if you haven’t already watched it on Sunday, January 29thh at 8pm on BBC2. But still, if you did and just want to see some of the cool scenes, this is your change.
For the first episode of the series 18, Top Gear crew returned to Italy for a road-trip behind the wheels of three amazing cars: a McLaren MP4-12C, a Noble 6000 and of course a Lamborghini Aventador. The crew started their journey in the southern town of Nardo, then they head to Imola, via Rome, taking in a series of challenges along the way.

It’s a new year and, of course, time for the new season of Top Gear. The 18th season of he famous British show begins on Sunday, January 29thh at 8pm on BBC2, but we’re already getting the first teaser video of the great things that are about to come.
The official trailer reveals Ray Winstone, Richard at NASCAR, James on a rather bizarre lap of Dunsfold, a flying man with wings, Jeremy in a wig blowing up a caravan, a Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series in a cloud of tire-smoke, and a new incarnation of the Stig. Then there’s the list of impressive cars that are in the show.
Everything seems about ready for the show, so there is only one question to ask: who will Jeremy Clarkson offend this time? Their Christmas show in India ended pretty badly.
Christmas is less than a week away and that only means one thing: Top Gear’s Christmas Special is on the docket, kicking off the newest season of the hit British TV show.
Earlier this month, we caught a few scenes of what’s in store for us for the show’s annual holiday episode and while we certainly saw a few pretty interesting scenes, BBC re-edited the trailer to give us a few more snippets of the Christmas episode.
We already know that the show will take place in India and judging from the trailer, it looks like the trio of Clarkson, May, and Hammond are embarking on another cross-country trip that involves a fair share of races and challenges.
There’s also a cameo appearance of a king cobra, the boys teaching some lads how to play baseball - catch the irony there? - and getting acclimated to the Indian-style of no-holds-barred driving.
The 30 second-trailer is getting us all excited for the Christmas Special. Just another reason why this is our favorite holiday of the year.
The globe-trotting trio from Top Gear have been spotted in more places around the world than Waldo himself. Recently, Jeremy Clarkson and James May were spotted in Beijing, China filming a segment for the 18th season of the show and from what the photos are telling us, it appears that the duo - minus Richard Hammond, from what it looks like - have been spending some time in the Far East getting acquainted to some of the locally-produced cars in China.
From what we’ve been told, the duo have a long list of Chinese cars to run around with, including, but not limited to a JAC sedan, a Greatwall Hover M2, a Greatwall Coolbear, a Geely China Dragon, and a BYD F0, among other things.
Those cars really don’t mean that much to us because you’d be hard-pressed to find one running around American soil. Nevertheless, the segment should make for an informative look at the burgeoning Chinese automotive market.
And who better to give us the unfiltered lowdown than Clarkson and May.
Christmas has been associated as much for the birth of Christ as it has been for Santa Claus, red-nosed reindeers, and Jingle Bells. But for gear heads like us, Christmas also takes in a whole new meaning in the form of Top Gear’s Christmas Special episode.
We didn’t know a whole lot about this year’s episode except for the little piece of nugget that it was being shot in India. Now we know what they were doing in that country all along.
In a recent episode of the One Show, Jeremy Clarkson was on-hand to promote his new ’Powered Up’ DVD and while that was informative in its own ’Clarkson-ian’ way, what really got our attention was the first teaser video of Top Gear’s Christmas Special 2011 episode.
Check out the video to watch a few minutes of Clarkson trying to sell us his new DVD or you can just jump to 2:34 into the video to check out the Christmas Special 2011 teaser.
