Toyota added a new special edition on the UK market: the new RAV4 SR180. The car is on sale at a price of £23,045.

The RAV4 SR180 is powered by Toyota’s advanced 175bhp (177 DIN hp) D-4D diesel engine, mated to a slick six-speed manual transmission. With 400Nm of torque on tap, it is a formidable performer and can move from rest to 62mph in 9.3 seconds. Its pulling power is matched by respectable fuel consumption of 40.4mpg and carbon dioxide emissions of 185g/km – Band E for Vehicle Excise Duty.

The RAV4 SR180 features 18-inch alloys housed in bold, extended wheelarches, dark-tinted headlamps, Integrated Active Drive, which combines Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control and Hill Start Assist, Bluetooth connectivity, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, front fog lamps, six-speaker sound system with six-CD autochanger, cruise control, electric sunroof and rear parking sensors.

Consumer Reports announced today that it has named five new models to its Top Picks list for 2007 — the Toyota RAV4 Toyota RAV4 , Infiniti Infiniti G35, Toyota Sienna Toyota Sienna , Mazda Mazda MX-5 Miata, and the new Honda Fit. While the Volkswagen Tiguan concept car has just been unveiled at LA auto show last year, it seems the hostility already started from Toyota.

The new weapon: domain name. This name will obviously be typed in by numerous buyers when the car will be available someday in 2008 but they might be surprised to see website coming up on their screen. it is surprising to see this kind of maneuver from a big car manufacturer. Are they really afraid of the Tiguan that much ? I admit the name itself is scary.
