The Sequoia is available in two model grades, the well-equipped SR5 and a Limited model that includes many features and amenities seen in luxury SUVs. Both grades are available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models. Full color-keyed exterior, standard overfenders and taillamps with clear-lens covers give Sequoia a rugged yet sophisticated appearance. Each model grade offers its own exclusive option package for even greater comfort and versatility.

Family-Grade Safety

Toyota engineered the Sequoia to address safety both in vehicle dynamics and occupant protection. The STAR SAFETY SYSTEM?, which is featured as standard on every Toyota SUV, includes VSC, TRAC, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist to help provide vehicle control. Four-channel, four-sensor ABS helps to prevent the wheels from locking during severe braking conditions, while EBD distributes proper brake force between the front and rear wheels according to driving conditions. Brake Assist is designed to determine if the driver is attempting emergency braking and, if the driver has not stepped firmly enough on the brake pedal to engage the (ABS), the system supplements the applied braking power.

The VSC system helps maintain directional stability during cornering by manipulating engine torque and individual wheel-braking influence when it detects tire slippage. VSC integrates traction control (TRAC), which helps reduce tire slippage during acceleration.

Additional Safety Systems

Reinforced front and rear bumpers and a front crumple zone are designed to absorb and distribute collision impact forces. The reinforced upper cabin frame, reinforced rocker support for all pillars and door beams help to maintain passenger compartment integrity.

The Sequoia provides a three-point seatbelt for all eight seating positions. The driver's and front-passenger seats include pretensioners and force limiters. Height-adjustable anchors mounted in the pillars make the front seatbelts and second-row outboard seatbelts more comfortable to wear.

The advanced front airbag system provides dual-stage deployment driver and passenger airbags. A sensor on the driver's seat track can determine the driver's seat distance from the steering wheel to signal an appropriate deployment stage. The front passenger seat contains a sensor that detects the presence and weight category of a passenger (child or adult), and also determines the appropriate airbag deployment strategy.

The front Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags can be augmented by optional side airbags and side curtain, airbags for the front and second-row seats. The side airbag/side curtain airbag option package includes a rollover sensor with a cutoff switch.

Sequoia has been widely praised for its responsive handling, refinement and comfort. In particular the Sequoia Limited model rivals luxury SUVs for content and comfort. The available touch-screen DVD navigation system is paired with a JBL premium 2-in-1 AM/FM CD audio system with 10 speakers. The optional Limited Luxury Package increases the comfort factor with second-row captain's chairs and removable center console, memory driver's seat and exterior mirrors, height-control rear air suspension, interior wood-grain style trim and distinctive Optitron instrumentation.

The Sport Package available for the Sequoia SR5 also features height-control rear air suspension and adds fog lamps, tubular running boards, front skid plate, five-spoke 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels in place of the standard styled steel wheels and 2nd row fabric Captain's Chairs with removable center console.

Toyota Comfort and Quality

Thoughtful ergonomic design and high-quality interior materials make the Sequoia comfortable for all aboard. Standard equipment highlights for the Sequoia SR5 include power front seat captain's chairs and standard dual front and a rear digital air conditioning system. Front and rear passengers can control heating and cooling independently, or the driver or front passenger can override and control the entire system from the front control panel. Also standard are power windows (with front window jam control), power mirrors and door locks, 3-in-1 AM/FM/Cassette/CD audio system with six speakers, cruise control, anti-theft system with engine immobilizer and auto-off headlights.

Additional amenities featured in the Sequoia Limited grade include leather-trimmed power-adjustable front seats (8-way for driver, 4-way for passenger), a premium JBL stereo system with 10 speakers, power moonroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, fog lamps, an adjustable roof rack and a towing prep package with receiver hitch and wire harness. The Limited also adds the convenience of an overhead console with HomeLink® universal garage door opener, compass and a trip computer.

An auto-dimming inside rear view mirror is standard on Limited models and available on SR5 models. Other Limited content is also available for the SR5 as stand-alone options or in option packages.

Go-Anywhere, Anytime Capability

A chassis with fully boxed frame rails, coil-spring double wishbone front suspension and a five-link coil spring rear suspension give the Sequoia a smooth, quiet and controlled ride. Available hydraulic rear load leveling suspension automatically compensates for loads carried in the vehicle.

Sequoia is available with either two-wheel drive or multi-mode four-wheel drive systems. The multi-mode 4WD system uses a lockable center differential and allows the driver to shift from 2H to 4H with a dash-mounted switch. The locking center differential can help get the vehicle through obstructions such as sand, mud or deep snow. With 10.6-inches of ground clearance, the Sequoia can easily handle off-highway obstacles.

Seventeen-inch wheels and P265/65R17 tires are standard equipment on the Sequoia Limited and available on the SR5 grade. A seven-pin towing connector is available for added functionality including the ability to accommodate electric trailer braking systems.

Room and Versatility

Sequoia owners can configure the interior in a multitude of ways. The 60/40 split and 40/40 split second rows and 50/50 split third row seats fold, recline and tumble forward. The third row seats also slide and are removable. In its rear-most position, the third row provides a generous 29.8 inches of legroom. Moving the third row to its most forward position yields 36.2 cu.-ft. of space behind it.

The third row seat can be removed in halves, to provide 73.6 cu.-ft. of space behind the second row, while folding the second row yields 128.1 cu.-ft. of interior cargo space. The rear power window fully retracts into the gate to provide cargo area access without opening the gate, such as in tight parking places. The window operates either by driver position switch, inserting the key into the hatch lock or with the remote keypad when equipped with keyless entry (standard on Limited, optional on SR5).

The multi-function front center console integrates a large storage box with a double-door and memo pad clip. Dual front and rear-cup holders can adapt to containers of nearly any size. To power the variety of devices that passengers are likely to bring on board, Sequoia provides four 12-volt power outlets – two in the front, one for the second row and one behind the third row on the left side.

The optional factory-installed DVD rear seat entertainment system is the ideal accessory for traveling families. The option includes a high-resolution seven-inch overhead LCD screen that flips down from the headliner, a DVD player location in the center console box and rear seat audio – a feature that is also available as a separate option. Toyota equipped Sequoia with plenty of useful storage compartments throughout the interior, plus 10 cupholder locations. All four doors include deep storage pockets. Behind the third row, the cargo area provides an open, deep pocket on each side, a small article compartment with lid, two grocery bag hooks and cargo net hooks.

Toyota dealers offer a variety of accessories for the Sequoia, including towing equipment, cargo carrying enhancements and special trim items.

Toyota's 36-month/36,000-mile basic new-vehicle limited warranty applies to all components other than normal wear and maintenance items. Additional 60-month warranties cover the powertrain for 60 months/60,000 miles and corrosion perforation for 60 months with no mileage limitation.
