2011 Toyota GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II

Looks like Toyota and Gazoo Racing will be bringing more than just the Lexus LF-A to the Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race this week. In a surprising announcement, the Japanese automaker will also bring their new mid-engine convertible hybrid concept to Nurburgring, which they’ve christened as the GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II.

An updated version of the first concept that was introduced at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon, the GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II is an MR2 -based hybrid concept that features plenty of styling cues from the fabled MR2 sports car. It was also designed in a far more aggressive detail befitting of its status as a new-age hybrid concept car.

In addition to the advanced convertible design language of the car, Toyota and GRMN (Gazoo Racing tuned by MN2) also improved on the car’s mid-engine sports-hybrid AWD system that now carries a 3.5-liter Type 2GR-FXE V6 engine that produces 249 horsepower to go with a front electric motor that bumps up the output to 299 horsepower.

So far, these are the only details we have of the new GRMN Sports Hybrid Concept II, but rest assured, we’ll have more details when the car makes its official debut at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring this weekend.

I agree on you ettore lombardi that is the most sporty vehicle of Toyota and to take note, it is a hybrid concept car which really impressed me a lot.

Wow!I think this is the most sporty vehicle that was built by Toyota. The roadster version makes the car more aggressive, and the modified aerodynamic kit is quite good!

I don’t like the styling of the front, and I think its exterior is kind of bloat loaded. BTW, I bet the interior would be spacious since it uses the AWD platform. The hybrid concept has delivered an impressive power output!

This concept is different from others for hybrid is about the power performance. They made a sports car out of a hybrid concept. It is a pretty cool idea.

This one is well built, and its performance is apparently good. This version is one of the best..

This one is actually looking promising, especially with the way they have designed the body. As for the green aspect of this one, well it would be better to see it to decide.

Well, its a good thing to know that Toyota is back in business and now, competing against Lexus. I’m sure they’ll give a good performance in the Nurburgring Track.

Hey wait, isn’t Gazoo the one also doing the tune ups for the LF-A that Lexus would be entering. Well, considering that Toyota and Lexus are in the same company, that wouldn’t really matter.

If this one actually makes a splash when they unveil it later, then we are pretty sure that they would take it to the production line. But we probably would have to wait for that one.

The styling of this hybrid car seems different from their traditional look! hmm. It seems that Toyota will start to make a newer platform everytime and this would be a good production.

Wow! I like the platform of this car is reminds of Alfa Romeo Zagato with its sleeker rear skirt. The detailing in the exterior is great plus the convertible version makes it sporty enough.

I hope that they would bring in a production version of this one. Just from the looks of it, you can pretty much tell that this is going to be a winner.

At first, I thought that this one was a direct take from the FT-86, but then I remembered the other concept car that they had released. This one does look very promising though.
