2012 Toyota Tacoma

The current generation Toyota Tacoma has been in production since 2005 and it’s about time the truck got some changes. For the 2012 model year, the Tacoma has been updated with a restyled exterior look and a redesigned and modernized interior, with some technological goodies to boot. What hasn’t changed is the power source: the Toyota Tacoma will still be running on either a 2.7 liter four-cylinder engine producing 159 HP and 180 lb-ft of torque or the 4.0 liter V6 delivering 236 hp and 266 lb-ft.

Some of the highlights for the 2012 Tacoma include a redesigned hood, new grille, new headlamps, and a new front bumper. The inside is where Toyota got real schnazzy, sprucing up the truck with a new six-speaker system with an AM/FM/ Satellite Radio-capable head unit and a single-disc CD player for the Access Cabin model and the new Entune infotainment system with seven speakers for the Double Cab model.

Exterior

Toyota Tacoma

Since the Tacoma is working on seven years with the same tired routine, it was high time for Toyota to get to work and not lose out on one of the best sold pick-ups on the market. For the 2012 model year, the Tacoma has received a new hood, new headlamps, and new upper and lower bumper areas. The X-Runner version will be distinguished by a full body kit, a hood scoop, and integrated fog lamps. There will be three colors to choose from: Barcelona Red, Black Sand Pearl, and Nautica Blue Metallic.

Interior

Toyota Tacoma

The inside of the 2012 Tacoma has really been spruced up with a new center-instrument panel design, a revised gauge cluster, and a new steering wheel. The console integrates three cup holders, two of which can accommodate extra-large containers.

The new details for the interior only allow for a better placement of the upgraded sound system. The Access Cab models have received a new six-speaker system with an AM/FM/ Satellite Radio-capable head unit and a single-disc CD player, while the Double Cab models get the new Entune infotainment and audio system with seven speakers and today‚Äôs most in-demand connectivity features. Both audio systems’ controls are mounted high for easy access and the sound reverberating from them are cushioned by the sound absorption material behind the rear seats and on the headliner.

Engine

Toyota Tacoma

The 2012 Toyota Tacoma will be powered by the same lineup of engines found in the previous models: a 2.7-liter Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) four-cylinder that produces 159 HP and 180 lb-ft. of torque, and a 4.0-liter DOHC V6 that provides 236 HP and 266 lb-ft. of torque. The V6 can be teamed up with either a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission. The four-cylinder models are offered with a choice between a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic transmission.

Competition

Toyota Tacoma

In the pick-up truck market, customers have plenty of models to choose from. The new changes for the Tacoma are great and all, but before buying it, there are a few other models you should check out first: the Honda Ridgeline and the Nissan Frontier . The Ridgeline has the disadvantage of only being offered with a 3.5-liter VTEC V-6 engine that delivers a total of 250 HP at 5,700 rpm and 247 lb-ft. of torque at 4,300 rpm, as well as only one transmission option. Its towing capacity is also only 5,000 lbs, falling short of the Tacoma’s 6500 lbs.

A better competitor for the new Tacoma is the Nisan Frontier. The Frontier’s specs are nearly identical to the Tacoma. It is powered by either a 4.0-liter DOHC V6 engine rated at 261 HP and 281 lb-ft of torque or a 152-HP 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. Its towing capacity matches the 6,500 lbs provided in the Tacoma. The Tacoma may be pulling just a tad bit ahead if its prices are close to that of the 2011 model. The 2011 Tacoma starts from about $16K, while the Frontier starts at about $18K.

2012 Toyota Tacoma provides updated styling inside and out. New high-tech entertainment features are in store for you. It is good to know that this mid-size pickup truck is available in three cab styles.

It still looks very appealing even though it only has a simple and ordinary styling for a truck. Well, good thing that it has an impressive interior, so cozy and comfortable!

Tacoma still looks good even though the detailing that it had is so simple and ordinary but when it comes into its interior. I must say that it recovered the aesthetic looks of it.

Toyota is still very striking and impressive in spite of having an outdated platform and other detailing, and I love the fact that it is so ideal for an outdoor activity.

Tacoma was still on its massive appearance, and that’s what I love the most here in this picked up car, and I can say that even though it only had an ordinary styling, it was still very looks so stunning and appealing on me. smiley

I must say that the changes that they do on this Tacoma was really a great move to make it more stunning and I love the modernized interior of it, seems so luxurious and classy for a pick-up car but I hope that they also upgrade the engine of this one.

The interior of Tacoma is really impressive for me. It seems so luxurious and comfortable. Anyway, it had the looks of the usual and common pick up, but I’m still impressed with this.

This generation, toyota adventure cars are best for me. They have the variety, twist and modern tecnology. From its exterior and bumper to interior everything is simply looking.

I like the interior as well as the engine who look strong and powerful even long journey and speed ability surely easy. However, I’m looking for more detailed exterior designs.
