The 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor is the first true sport truck that Ford has produced since it eliminated the F-150 Lightning following the 2004 model year, and it is coming in nearly uncontested. It’s only real competition comes from the Ram R/T , which is essentially a short-wheelbase Sport model with a set of 4.10 gears, 22-inch rims and a nostril-style hood. Keep in mind, however, that Ram has yet to confirm an R/T model for its 2014 1500.

Now, the new-for-2014 Tremor is set to lead the pack at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series during the Michigan National Guard 200 race on August 17th. With its twin-turbo V-6 engine pumping out 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, the Tremor will have no problem being the pace truck for the upcoming race.

From the looks of things, there are only a few changes that transformed the base Tremor into the Tremor Pace Truck, including the safety lights and a more prominent "F-150 TREMOR" decal on the bed. The two models that will pace the race are draped in the red and pewter hues that we saw when Ford unveiled the model.

We’re uncertain whether this will result in a F-150 Tremor Pace Truck model for the public, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it.

Audi Q7

We have known for a quite some time now that Audi has been hard at work on the second-generation Q7 SUV . To date, all we have seen testing were just mules of the next model. However, now an actual Q7 prototype was caught testing somewhere on the roads of Germany.

The next Q7 will move to a new platform that it will share with the next-generation Volkswagen Touareg , Porsche Cayenne and of course the upcoming Bentley SUV . Thanks to this new platform and to the intense use of lightweight materials like aluminum, the next Q7 will be about 880 pounds lighter than the current model. Despite this huge weight loss, rumors point to the next Q7 being larger than both the Touareg and Cayenne.

Under the hood, Audi will work on offering smaller engines, with its focus being on improving fuel economy and on reducing CO2 emissions. A hybrid version was also rumored.

Expect the next Audi Q7 to be unveiled in September 2014 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and to hit the market in late 2014.

The revised CX-9 follows on company’s hot streak of stylish new models like the Mazda3 and Mazda6 sedan. New LED lights and a slinky Kodo grille revamp the face of Mazda ’s largest and most expensive model.

The seven-seater CX-9 carries over its previous 3.7-liter V-6 in front or AWD configurations. Paired to the crossover’s singing engine is a premium Aisin six-speed automatic with sport and manual modes. A 60 mph sprint time in the mid 7 second range shows off the CX-9’s impressive chassis design – even without the SkyActiv banner that helps build buzz around the smaller CX-5 .

Refined but sporty damping helps this full-size Mazda crossover to be quite competitive in the $35,000 large crossover segment, and the new gearstick design is a classy touch.

Mazda is firmly in touch with premium buyer needs by the looks of the interior, and the CX-9’s revised cabin maintains the stylish vertical accent bars up the sides of the center stack. Touchscreen technology and rear-seat movies are offered in the plush Mazda CX-9, but what are its key advantages over the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander ?

Audi Q7

Audi is already developing the next-generation Q7 SUV , but it looks like the company is preparing one more surprise before that in the form of an e-tron version for the large SUV. Audi Australia managing director, Andrew Doyle, confirmed to Car Advice that the "e-tron will be rolled out across all the models now."

This news comes as a huge surprise, considering the company just recently dropped the R8 e-tron. Doyle said that the R8 e-tron wasn’t a major thing for the Australian market, but that the e-tron line will launch "down under" with the A3 and Q7 models. He also confirmed that the Q7 e-tron will be offered for this generation, not the upcoming one set to arrive in 2015.

One thing he refused to comment about was what hybrid powertrain will the Q7 e-tron use. We know the A3 e-tron will combine a 147-horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a 75kW electric motor. We can almost guarantee that drivetrain will not make its way into the Q7, as it is way too underpowered to drive the large SUV.

There was also no confirmation on just how far the Q7 e-tron will make it around the world, particularly to the U.S.

Last year, TopCar unveiled the ML63 AMG "Inferno" . Now the tuning kit was revisited and the tuner came up with a new version called ML63 AMG Inferno Black. As its name suggests, the new version is all about making the ML63 dark.

The Inferno package takes its inspiration from the Black Series model offered by Mercedes and makes the SUV look more aggressive than ever.

We are not too sure if the new Inferno Black kit will feature any engine upgrades, but we assume so, given the original Inferno package was offered with three stages of upgrades. In the Stage One kit the ML63 AMG’s V-8 engine was tricked to deliver a total of 640 horsepower and 722 pound-feet of torque, up from the standard 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. There is also a Stage Two kit that takes the power up to 690 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque, while the most powerful version — Stage Three — delivers 760 horsepower and 848 pound-feet of torque.

Dodge’s attempt to re-inject some life to the Journey looks to have paid off with the 2013 model. Although that’s not much of a stretch, given the mediocrity that plagued its past iterations, you have to give credit to Dodge for giving the Journey all the necessary tools - and then some - to be able to properly compete against a competitive market segment.

So, yeah, the 2013 Journey is a lot better than its past namesakes and while it still can’t be considered a "class-leader," it’s made huge enough strides to be treated with respect and attention.

The 2013 Journey’s reasonably sporty feel, combined with impressive looks and refined interior makes it an SUV worth your time and money. And, oh by the way, it now comes with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that produces arguably one of the highest outputs of any SUV in its class.

For those looking to have a family-friendly SUV with a hidden thirst for power lurking underneath, the 2013 Journey is as good a choice as any.

The new Land Rover Range Rover was unveiled back in 2012 and since then, it has gained lots of attention from tuners. In fact, if you remember correctly, there has been about one new tuning kit offered each week.

This week, the tuning kit comes from the German tuner Arden and is simply called Spirit. Though Arden left the bits under the hood alone, it did work hard on updating the look of the SUV .

The new AR9 body kit includes a new front apron with two air entrances for improved ventilation. The tuner also installed an exclusive, handmade Arden front grille, a completely redesigned front appearance and new side skirts. For the rear, Arden installed a new apron and new sports silencers.

The car sits on a set of 22-inch wheels painted the same color as the SUV’s exterior. As an option, buyers can also opt for 22-inch monobloc Dakar II rims painted in black/silver matte or silver/grey matte.

Rising gas prices and dwindling oil reserves have more manufacturers looking for alternative fuels to get us by, and until fuel cell or all-electric vehicles become a cost-effective alternatives, the best option to date is compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquid petroleum gas (LPG). Ford is dipping its toes into the CNG and LPG pool, as it has just announced that the 2014 F-150 will be offered with CNG and LPG options. Unfortunately, these options won’t be offered from factory, as customers will have a Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier install the new fuel system.

Ford will, however, modify the 3.7-liter V-6 engine with a gaseous-fuel prep package that includes hardened valves, valve seats, pistons and rings. This optional package runs $315 on top of the base MSRP, then the customer will head off to the modifier to have the LPG or CNG system installed. Depending on the fuel tank size, the final conversion procedure costs between $7,500 and $9,500. Sure, that’s a huge investment, but CNG-converted trucks show a quick return on investment, as the average CNG price in the U.S. is $2.11 per gallon and in some cases, it is as little as $1 per gallon and the F-150 can run up to 750 miles with a single tank of CNG.

CNG-capable F-150s will come with a 3.7-liter V-6 engine, but Ford has not released its specifications when powered by CNG.

This option makes Ford the only manufacturer with an available CNG/LPG-capable half-ton pickup. Ford also plans to add the CNG/LPG option to eight more commercial vehicles in the next year.

The 2014 Ford Explorer Sport is a welcome addition to the TopSpeed Garage with its racy 20-inch wheels and twin-turbocharged V-6 engine. Taurus SHO enhancements transform the Explorer package from just a family-friendly AWD seven-seater into a taut performance machine that is both fun to drive and luxurious on the road.

The $40,000 Sport comes in as the top Explorer trim level, and the only one to get the 365-horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine. Dozens of performance and luxury enhancements join the potent powerplant: a sport-tuned suspension, huge vented disc brakes with front and rear performance calipers, dark-tinted headlights and a gloss-black grille round out the exterior mods for this performance variant.

The changes extend indoors as well, where the Explorer Sport is the pick of the range with leather-trimmed, heated sports buckets up front. Standard MyFord Touch by Sony and a powerful stereo join the fun, as do illuminated scuff plates and custom Sport badging.

As one of the best-known Ford nameplates, the Explorer lost its coveted spot as the default midsize SUV over the early 2000s following the introduction of the BMW X5 and a host of other truly premium models.

This latest all-new generation of Explorer has evolutionary styling but a sophisticated unibody design to replace the old Explorer’s body-on-frame construction.

After years in the doldrums, the Explorer Sport’s engine brings the magic back with a globally-competitive crossover package that can comfortably seat seven people and deliver 22 mpg on the highway.

The turbo power of the Explorer Sport trim helps the Ford stand apart from the segment-leading Buick Enclave and Nissan Pathfinder – but is the Ford’s fun-to-drive nature enough to reclaim buyers seeking a premium seven-passenger crossover?
