Vermot AG has returned to the market after more than 60 years with the launch of a new super sports car called the Veritas RS III. This vehicle pays tribute to its legendary ancestors and was shown to the public for the first time at the Salon Privé in London in Summer 2009. It was voted "Best Super Car" by that very audience.

The car was first shown as a concept back in 2001 and took its inspiration from boats, a market in which Vermot dabbled in at one time. Testings for the production version started back in 2008 and after only one year, the company brought the production version to the market. It will combine elements from BMW, Öhlins,Recaro, MF, and Dunlop.

There will only be 30 units produced at a price of $514,706. Every single Veritas RS III will be handmade on-site at the Nürburgring.

Exterior and Interior

The Veritas RS III takes its inspiration from Germany's first Formula I racing car. Its design is a modern homage to its ancestor and has been combined with state-of-the-art and powerful technology to create a unique masterpiece.

The RS III offers interior room for two passengers with a 1+1 layout and is built on a tubular frame with a racing carbon body. On the interior, the car will get Nappa leather bucket seats and 4-point harness belts.

Engine

The Veritas RS III is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0 Liter V10 power plant that makes a maximum output of 507 HP sourced from a BMW M5. The V10 engine can be mated to either a 7 speed SMG transmission or an optional 6 speed manual gearbox for those owners who are looking for a more visceral driving experience. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph will be made in 3.2 seconds, while top speed goes up to an impressive 216 mph.

Prices

Vermont will build only 30 units of the Veritas RS III and they have announced a price of $514,706.

Competition

Taking the engine's output and prices under consideration, the Veritas RS III is a sports car with no competition on the market. That being said, the automotive market offers plenty of models that feature a 1+1 layout, such as the Ariel Atom V8 500 and the KTM X-Bow. The great thing about these competitors is that they are much cheaper, but they don't offer the power that the RSIII does.

The KTM X-Bow R is priced at $139,000 and is powered by an Audi TFSI engine that delivers a total of 300 HP. The Ariel Atom is the closest model to the RS III in terms of performance with a Hartley-built 3.0 liter V8 engine that delivers 500HP and 284lbft at 7750RPM. The Atom V8 will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds, making it the fastest accelerating production car on the planet. Its top speed is 168 mph.
