John Misumi started off his career with a dream similar to the millions of car fanatics in the world: To build his very own supercar. Ten years and $2 million later, Misumi is finally ready to unveil his SZR supercar, except there’s only one production unit to account for all that time and money. One. What started off as a mission to create an "American muscle car for the next millennium" has been strung out into a long and tedious journey leading to one unit and hopes for a brighter future.
The Vision SRZ was originally called the K/2 when it was conceived in 1997. Then, in 2005, Misumi overhauled the K/2 with modified body panels to incorporate a longer wheelbase, wider greenhouse, and other changes present on the current SZR. The new model is built on an aluminum chassis featuring a carbon fiber body.
The Vision SZR was originally tested with a 6.2 L V8 engine producing 630 HP, but a 6.0 liter V12 with 700 HP will be joining the fold sometime in the near future. The two engines will be mated to either a six-speed manual or an electronically-controlled dual-clutch automatic.
It’s taken a lot of time and money to make his dream a reality, but Misumi is now ready to see his hard work come to fruition.

Exterior
The SZR was designed as the "muscle car for the 21st century" with an aggressive design language combining both classic and modern elements. It is built on a semi-monocoque chassis with aluminum and 4130 chrome molybdenum and features a modular construction with a bonded, riveted, and welded rigid cockpit section and interchangeable front and rear extremities with progressive energy absorbing impact protection zones. The SZR’s body is made of Hexcel carbon fiber, reinforced with composite Nomex honeycomb and Nida-Core, allowing for a curb weight between 2,450 and 2,875 lbs.
The SZR sits on Custom Forgiato wheels, 19" in the front and 20" in the back, wrapped around Continental Extreme Contact, 245/35 ZR 19
in the front and 335/30 ZR 20 in the rear.
Interior
The inside of the SZR gets custom seats fitted with driver and passenger airbags. Over the top of the custom designed, ergonomic, leather covered steering wheel is the instrument panel with a combination of Analog and digital gauges. Off to the right of the driver is the standard Alpine W505 multimedia station with DVD, satellite navigation, MP3, and CD players connected to an Alpine PDX 4.100 amplifier and Alpine SPX-17 PRO speakers. A rear view camera and air conditioning also come standard.
Engine
The Vision SZR started off with only one engine option: a turbocharged 6.2 L V8 engine producing 630 at 6,600 RPM and 600 lb-ft of torque at 6,600 RPM. Now, Misumi has added a second option for the supercar with a 6.0 liter V12 with 700 at 7,500 RPM and 440 lb-ft of torque at 7,500 RPM. Both engines will be combined with a stainless steel exhaust system and either a six-speed manual or an electronically-controlled dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Suspension and Brakes
The Vision SRZ features an adjustable height suspension at the front and back with inboard mounted Koni high pressure nitrogen gas and double-adjustable shock absorbers.
Stopping power comes from a brake system consisting of 14 inch ventilated / slotted disks and 4 piston aluminum calipers with stainless steel fluid lines for the front and back. Vision also offers an anti-lock braking system and 6 piston calipers with carbon rotors as an option, although the latter is not recommended for street use.
Prices
John Misumi has plans to put the SZR into production, but currently there is only one unit produced which took $2 million to build. As of right now, we can’t imagine anyone that would be crazy enough to buy a $2 million vehicle when there are plenty of other options with greater power and lower price tags. We do give props to John Misumi though for starting off with a dream and achieving it.
Competition
When the Vision SZR finally makes it to the market, it will be faced with a number of competitors sent to take the sales right from under its hood. Just recently, Rimac Automobile announced their Concept One - a 1088 HP supercar that has an estimated top speed of 189 mph. Arrinera has also announced plans to put their Venocara Supercar into production. It gets a 6.2-liter, mid-mounted V8 engine that delivers 650 HP and 605 lb/ft of torque. Top speed is 211 mph.
