Volkswagen Golf VI GTI RZR

volkswagen golf vi gti rzr picture

The Volkswagen Golf GTI has become know as a hot hatch the world over, however it has taken the keen eye of a Hong Kong based tuners RevoZport to give the German hatchback a bit of flair from the Pacific’s Ring of Fire with flared fenders, LED driving lights and a few lightweight composite components. RevoZport is more attune to working their magic on more luxurious models from makes like BMW, Porsche, Lotus, Ferrari and even AMG. However it seems as if there was something about the little GTI that caught their attention and transformed the regular old turbocharged five door hatchback into a slippery super car like figure with a wider grin and raised eyebrows.

The bodykit is made of Pultruded Fiber Reinforced Plastic (PFRP) as well as a few carbon fiber bits that include a fully reworked front bumper with matching strips of LED s and an aggressive looking adjustable front splitter. However the GTI RZR’s beauty runs more then just skin deep. Thanks to an ECU upgrade and a free flowing high performance exhaust system, the 2.0 Liter TFSI four cylinder now develops a total of 270 HP.

Press release after the jump.

While a stock Golf GTI delivers 210 hp, Wimmer RS has added an optimized turbo, a sports CAT, a modified intake system and fuel pump as well as a reprogrammed ECU and managed to increase the output to a total of 386 hp and 455 Nm (332 lb-ft). The top speed is also increased to 166mph.

The tuner also added a sports clutch and a height-adjustable HR sports coilover suspension system. The car sits on either 18-, 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels.

Still high on the success of their Passat based Comfort Coupe, the German automaker Volkswagen is playing around with the design of their classic hatchback to incorporate a Golf sized compact four door into the lineup. If it ever does come to fruition, you can expect the Golf CC to start showing up only two years after the after the seventh generation hatchback arrives in showrooms, something that is slated for 2012. On paper the 2014 Golf CC will technically be a saloon due to its four door layout, but to the eye the CC’s signature coupe like profile will its arched roofline and tapering rear window will make it appear to be a much sportier ride. The Golf’s theme of practicality will continue on the inside thanks to space conscious folding rear seats to maximize usability and at the same time the interior of the smaller Comfort Coupe promises to be a bit more luxurious than the standard hatchback.
