The German tuner B&B managed to achieve the most powerful production Golf ever. If from factory the Volkswagen Golf R comes with a total of 270 hp, the tuner took the output to an amazing 362 hp. As a result the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 4,8 seconds, while top speed goes up to 173 mph.
The extra power could be delivered thanks to the addition of a larger turbocharger, a special sports exhaust system with a larger pipes and high-performance racing catalyst.
Besides that, the Golf R also gets sport springs which lower the ride height by 30 mm, an 8-piston high-performance braking system and 19 inch or 20 inch wheels.
The Volkswagen GolfGTI has become know as a hot hatch the world over, however it has taken the keen eye of a Hong Kong based tuners RevoZport to give the German hatchback a bit of flair from the Pacific’s Ring of Fire with flared fenders, LED driving lights and a few lightweight composite components. RevoZport is more attune to working their magic on more luxurious models from makes like BMW, Porsche, Lotus, Ferrari and even AMG. However it seems as if there was something about the little GTI that caught their attention and transformed the regular old turbocharged five door hatchback into a slippery super car like figure with a wider grin and raised eyebrows.
The bodykit is made of Pultruded Fiber Reinforced Plastic (PFRP) as well as a few carbon fiber bits that include a fully reworked front bumper with matching strips of LED s and an aggressive looking adjustable front splitter. However the GTI RZR’s beauty runs more then just skin deep. Thanks to an ECU upgrade and a free flowing high performance exhaust system, the 2.0 Liter TFSI four cylinder now develops a total of 270 HP.
The Volkswagen Golf is easily one of the most popular hot hatches on the market today, the German automaker has used the compact hatchback platform to create everything from high performance GTIs to the more affordable and equally fun to drive Rabbit and even an estate or two. Following suit from their upscale four ringed cousins at Audi, VW has announced that they too will offer a set of stylish LED lit tail lamps on a few of their classic two box hatchbacks.
Not only will the top of the line turbocharged Golf R wear a set of the bright new tail lights, but the more economical GTI and even more efficient Golf GTD diesel will now come equipped with LED rear clusters standard. The lens covers have a dark smoked tint to further distinguish the lamps even when the light emitting diodes aren’t shining through. Underneath the ominous lenses resides of two curved right angles made up of eleven LEDs each, with a distinctive LED center dot, not much unlike traditional tail lamps. With a total of 48 diodes, the Golf is adopting a bit of Audi’s light signature making their most iconic members of the Golf family a little bit more distinguishable.
What better way to promote a cool car like the Volkswagen Golf GTI than showing what it is capable of? So, how do you think a 210 hp GTI drifts? Take a look!
Wimmer RS was pretty busy lately with preparing customized cars. First a Ferrari F430 and the Porsche GT2 Speed, and now the Golf GTI. For the German hatchback, the tuner has worked on both the exterior and the car’s performance.
While a stock Golf GTI delivers 210 hp, Wimmer RS has added an optimized turbo, a sports CAT, a modified intake system and fuel pump as well as a reprogrammed ECU and managed to increase the output to a total of 386 hp and 455 Nm (332 lb-ft). The top speed is also increased to 166mph.
The tuner also added a sports clutch and a height-adjustable HR sports coilover suspension system. The car sits on either 18-, 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels.
Still high on the success of their Passat based Comfort Coupe, the German automaker Volkswagen is playing around with the design of their classic hatchback to incorporate a Golf sized compact four door into the lineup. If it ever does come to fruition, you can expect the Golf CC to start showing up only two years after the after the seventh generation hatchback arrives in showrooms, something that is slated for 2012. On paper the 2014 Golf CC will technically be a saloon due to its four door layout, but to the eye the CC’s signature coupe like profile will its arched roofline and tapering rear window will make it appear to be a much sportier ride. The Golf’s theme of practicality will continue on the inside thanks to space conscious folding rear seats to maximize usability and at the same time the interior of the smaller Comfort Coupe promises to be a bit more luxurious than the standard hatchback.
After seeing MTM’s customization program for the new Golf GTD we know that Honda and Mugen don’t have a monopoly on the modified hatchback market. As further proof, the German tuning house ABT Sportsline has just come up with a kit of their own for the diesel burning turbocharged Golf VI. Aside from giving the TDI hatchback a 50 HP kick in the pants with one of their ABT Power units, the Germans have also reworked the Golf’s exterior to further suit their own brand of style.
The aero mods include a new front bumper with much more angular intakes as well as a set of stylish strips of LED driving lights. Out back the new rear diffuser makes room for ABT’s signature quad tipped exhaust pipes while an oversized wing keeps things planted at speed. Finishing off the design, ABT is offering a few wheel and tire options with their sporty AR and BR models available in either 18 or 19 inches in diameter. The alternatively fueled 2.0 Liter power plant now makes a total 190 HP and a very diesel like 288 lb-ft of torque, and although it may not sound so impressive going from 0 to 60 MPH in 7.1 seconds isn’t too bad for a diesel, and neither is a 143 MPH top speed. The best part about tuning a diesel is that when you are done you’re still driving a green vehicle.
In its standard version the Volkswagen Golf GTD is powered by a 2,0 liter TDI engine that delivers 170 hp. Not bad for a diesel car, no? But MTM decided it can do better. And with a few little modifications they managed to raise the engine’s output to 205 hp.
Besides that the MTM GTD also comes with a black paint, a new exhaust systems, performance brakes, sport suspensions and 19 inch bimoto sport alloy rims which underline the vehicles character and sporty look.
No words on how the car’s performances have been improved, but stay tuned and we will let you know soon!
