2006 Volkswagen GTI (V)

’Back to the roots’ doesn’t mean small and light, but it does mean four-cylinder, front-wheel-drive powertrains, so say goodbye to the VR6 engine, and forget about 4Motion.(Both likely will reappear in a followup to the R32 Golf, but that car won’t wear a GTI badge and will have more of a comfort-oriented chassis tune than the GTI.)

2007 Volkswagen GTI receives "Automotive Excellence Award"

Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced that they are among the recipients of Popular Mechanics 2007 Automotive Excellence Awards. The award was giving to the 2007 Volkswagen GTI which won the “Driving Fun” category. Volkswagen’s Fast mascot wins Cannes’ Grand Prix

The first-ever Grand Prix for promotions was presented at the Cannes International Advertising Festivato Crispin, Porter + Bogusky for a viral-marketing campaign for Volkswagen of America. Twenty eight other campaigns-three of them from the U.S.-won Promo Lion awards in the first year that Cannes has extended the iconic advertising competition to promotion marketing. Volkswagen America, Inc., for the second straight year, is revealing a showroom full of all-new, highly anticipated cars at the new year’s first major auto shows back to back in Los Angeles and Detroit.
