At Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen unveiled the Jetta Sportwagen (Golf Variant for the European market). Volkswagen has announced it would recall 790,000 vehicles because of problems with the brake light switch. The recall involves several vehicles: 1999-2006 model years of the Golf and GTI, 2001-2005 Jettas, 2001-2007 New Beetles and the 2004 R32. Volkswagen Jetta sedan will be the first Volkswagen model to get the Bluetec-branded diesel engine in 2008. The Jetta will get its cleanest ever turbodiesel in the form of a 2.0-liter common-rail diesel. In the VW Jetta a new 2.0 litre Common Rail diesel engine with a nitrogen oxide reservoir catalytic converter was used, which complies to the Californian emission standard “Tier 2 / Bin 5”. These requirements are considered the most stringent worldwide. The first production run of the “Clean TDI” with nitrogen oxide post-treatment system will be made during 2008 in the USA.
