The Passat was launched in 2008 and the latest variant was launched this year. It has only a 2-litre CRDi engine and the petrol will come later. Its biggest competitors are the Honda Accord, Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and the Hyundai Sonata. VW has launched the Passat with the BlueMotion technology and the Passat has the first in class park assist and Dynamic Light Assist.
Volkswagen announced that the new Passat CC will be on display at dealerships in Europe. The sporty design of this new Volkswagen is coupled with coupé-like contours. The Passat CC also offers a multitude of technical innovations, such as the “Lane Assist” active lane-guidance system and “DCC” adaptive chassis control.
The new, automatic DCC system combines the athletic quality of a coupé with the comfort of a top saloon. Another unique feature of the Passat CC is the "Lane Assist" guidance system. Should the vehicle be about to drift out of its lane, this assistant will intervene with corrective steering. Volkswagen is offering the Passat CC in combination with ultra-modern direct-injection engines only. The entry-level engine is a TSI system with 118 kW (160 PS) at a starting price of 30,300 euro.
The next-level engine is a 147 kW (200 PS) TSI with impressive torque and fuel-consumption qualities. This vehicle version comes at a price of 32,975 euro. The most powerful petrol engine in the Passat CC range is a 3.6-litre, six-cylinder engine with 220 kW (300 PS) and with 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive as a standard feature. This vehicle version, fitted with an automatic DSG double-clutch gearbox, is available from 40,800 euro.
Volkswagen unveiled at this year’s Worthersee GTI meet in Worther Lake, Austria the Passat R36 Styling Study. It is based on one of the most powerful Volkswagen Estate and is the work of the specialists from Volkswagen Individual.

The car also features larger Brembo six-piston units, 20 inches wheels borrowed from the Touareg R-Line. On the inside race-ready Recaros replace the softer buckets found on the standard model, and they match the two-tone, black-and-white steering wheel, shift boot and even seat belts quite nicely.
Vokswagen has announced prices for its new four-door, four-seater coupe, the Passat CC, which is available to order from retailers across the UK from next week, Friday 16th May. Three engines are available at launch – two petrol and one diesel. Petrol options are a 1.8-litre TSI unit developing 160 PS and 184 lbs ft of torque linked to a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox plus the flagship 3.6-litre V6 FSI with 300 PS and 258 lbs ft of torque channelled via 4MOTION four-wheel drive and DSG gearbox. A common rail 2.0-litre TDI with 140 PS is also offered at launch, and will be joined in September by a 170 PS version of the same powerplant. An additional 2.0-litre petrol unit, with 200 PS, will also become available at this time.
The Volkswagen Passat was first launched in 1973, but none of the fifth generation had anything impressive regarding their design. The only exception is the newly launched Passat CC, that brings a more attractive design.
The next generation Passat will be launched in 2011, and even if everyone expected something big, it only brings small innovation regarding its design; only the front will be changed a bit. The 2011 Passat will be bigger than a current Audi A6 Avant; it will move to a more flexible modular platform and will keep the current engine line-up.
Volkswagen will also bring a New Midsized Sedan (NMS) for the US and that they will introduce a complete fleet of hatchbacks across the whole model line-up.

Volkswagen revealed the Passat CC four-door coupe in January at the Detroit Auto Show. Although it is based on the Passat, the German manufacturer took the decision to rename the vehicle from the Passat CC to the CC.
This decision was taken in order to separate the CC from the Passat and to create a new class, as Mercedes did with the CLS four-door coupe. Set to be launched in early 2009, the new Volkswagen CC will be powered by a 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine capable of delivering 200 hp and a 3.6 liter V6 petrol engine which produces 300 hp.
The Passat Estate TSI EcoFuel being premiered in Geneva marks the beginning of a new era for natural-gas-fuelled automobiles. Until now, passenger cars operated using eco-friendly, low-consumption natural gas have tended to be "mild mannered". The Passat changes that once and for all with its 147 hp TSI engines.
And yet the direct-injection turbo engine in the Passat, specifically designed to run on natural gas, consumes no more than 5.2 kilograms of gas per 100 kilometres. The Passat and the Passat Estate TSI EcoFuel are due to be launched on the market around year-end.
Volkswagen is currently working on the 7th generation Passat that will be launched in the next three or four years. One of the most loved cars in Europe, the Passat will come with a new designed and improved technology.

Even if there are no details about the future Passat, here’s a Top Speed interpretation of it! We hope you will enjoy it!
