Volkswagen Scirocco

The Volkswagen Scirocco is for sure a very sporty car, with a great design. But even the most sporty car can get even sportier with the right tuning package. MR Car Design has reveled the special edition Scirocco Black Rocco that also adds a new design package, but also improves the car’s performances.

Thanks to an ECU upgrade, a MR Car Design Stage 3 turbo kit and a new custom exhaust system the 2.0 liter engine delivers a total of 370 hp and 519 Nm of torque. The tuner also added a Stoptech high performance brake system with the Stahlbus bleeding valve and KW V3-coilovers.

Outside the car receives a new front apron, side skirts and rear valance accretion with diffuser optics and also 20 inch 1-part Emotion Wheels aluminum rims with Hankook tires.

In another nod at green racing, the German automaker Volkswagen has just launched the Scirocco Bio-CNG-powered race series for 2010. With CO2 emissions reduced by 80%, the new Scirocco Cup will become the most eco-friendly one-make championship in the world, making it even more environmentally friendly than their previous Jetta TDI Cup . The Scirocco Cup car is based on the standard TSI unit that is fitted in the road going Scirocco, the Bio-CNG-racing version of the 2.0 Liter four pot develops a maximum output of 215 HP and 203 lb-ft of torque from the alternative fuel burning internal combustion engine.

In order to run a compressed natural gas setup, the Sciroccos are fitted with a 22 liter fuel tank mounted directly behind the driver and is protected by the race car’s roll cage. The so-called Bio-CNG that the Volkswagen Scirocco Volkswagen Scirocco Cup cars will burn is produced from renewable resources such as grass or a special type of corn as well as from refined biological waste. In order to house the alternative fuel, the tanks themselves are made from a composite material and a series of stainless steel pipes and special valves are added which are required for CNG operation. The Scirocco Cup racing cars will use tried and tested components from Volkswagen production models with CNG engines ensuring that the competition cars are not only reliable, but that the innovations learned on the racetrack will be directly applicable to their street cars.

After unveiling the 2010 Volkswagen Golf R and the 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R a month ago, the German automaker has finally released the two cars out on the market in Germany.

The two cars, which both use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged TSI engine, can both churn out as much as 260 horsepower with an electronic limit of 250 km/h.

In addition to sharing the same engine, the two R models were also outfitted with 17-inch allows, modified bumpers, a shiny and glossy grille, a sports rear spoiler, sports seats, pedals, and a racing steering wheel.

After catching the promotional video of the two cars running roughshod on a race track, it’s safe to say that the wait for these two R-models has been long and anxious.

If you’re interested to avail either one of the two, head on over to your nearest VW dealership; the Golf R goes for €36,400 while the Scirocco R sells for €33,475.

If you’re a fan of the Volkswagen Scirocco R like we are, then you’ll understand our giddiness in finding out that Volkswagen is releasing the ‘Scirocco R 24-hour Challenge’ for the iPhone.

If you don’t know, the Scirocco R 24-hour Challenge is a free downloadable game from the Apple App store that allows you to drive your own Scirocco R in a series of different play modes, inclufding qualifying mode, a 24-hour mode, and a multi-player mode that players can play together using Bluetooth.

It may not be as realistic as the video we showed a couple of days ago featuring the aforementioned Scirocco R and the Golf R20 taking in a few laps at a race circuit, but it’s a pretty good racing game to have, especially when you find yourself in need of scratching that racing itch every now and again.

These days, there aren’t a lot of advertising tools as powerful as a good commercial, and while some car brands have succeeded in getting their messages to the TV audience across in 30 seconds, other commercials have failed miserably in doing so.

Thankfully, the new two-minute trailer featuring Volkswagen ’s two R-Line vehicles – the Scirocco R and the Golf R20 - had us glued to the tube. The trailer mixed outstanding sound editing with a movie-like video featuring two VW test drivers taking the cars out for a spin out on a G-simulator and later on, out on a real track, all the while emphasizing the amount of G-Force the two cars can reach while setting blistering lap after blistering lap on the circuit.

The German automotive conglomerate’s personalization line, Volkswagen Individual, has just revealed the new R-Line package for the new Golf , Scirocco and Passat CC at the Frankfurt Motor Show, all three of which will go on sale later on this Fall.

The sixth generation Golf is upgraded with a set of stylish 17 inch alloy wheels and a sport suspension to make it handle better as well as a set of body colored side skirts and a pair of aggressively redesigned set of bumpers inspired by the new Golf R . Down force is improved with a new rear diffuser integrated into the back bumper and a roof spoiler to finish off the top of the hatch while on the inside a pair of decorative door tread plates wears the R-Line logo. Volkswagen’s newest hot hatch, the Scirocco, benefits from both interior and exterior upgrades as well. The new Scirocco R-Line follows a similar diet as the Golf R-Line, except that the Scirocco’s modifications are based more on improving the vehicle’s appearance as opposed to swapping out the mechanicals underneath.

For the more luxurious end of the Volkswagen R-Line, the Passat CC gets a set of 18 inch wheels, a freshly redesigned front spoiler and lower hanging side skirts to complete the ground effects package, while the interior is upgraded with four special edition kick plates and a leather wrapped multifunction three spoke steering wheel finished off with the R-Line logo.

The German suspension manufacturer Eibach has teamed up with Volkswagen Zubehör, the automotive conglomerate’s aftermarket division in order to create one outstanding package for the Volkswagen Scirocco . While the lowering springs are available directly from the factory, Eibach has also developed a set of high performance sway bars and spacers to improve the hot hatch’s handling in order to guarantee that the Scirocco goes exactly where the driver demands it to.

The beauty of this kind of suspension package is that the spring and shock combination have already been tuned to work in harmony with one another and provide the vehicle with the right amount of chassis lowering, a common problem with infinitely adjustable coilovers is that most owners tend to slam their vehicles to the ground in an attempt to make it look cool, but what they don’t know is that they are wreaking havoc on the suspension geometry and in some instances might even be quicker around a turn with the stock setup.

Volkswagen Zubehör steps in with their own appearance package for the Scirocco that consists of an aggressive front lip spoiler, a set of lower side sills and a blacked out rear apron made with an integrated diffuser while above the Scirocco wears a stylish roof spoiler and a set of stunning 19 inch 10 spoke motor sport wheels, although that 2010 Scirocco R is looking pretty fine just like it comes from the factory.

Even if Volkswagen’s Scirocco sports hatch won’t be making it to the U.S. anytime soon, there are still a few fuel-efficiency is still a problem for the German automaker. So over the next few years, VW will expand their lineup of eco friendly vehicles to include the new Passat CC, Tiguan and also the Scirocco.

According to a source at the English automotive journal AutoCar, Volkswagen is "looking into" a clean diesel burning Scirocco BlueMotion. It will feature a small displacement diesel engine, possibly the 1.6 Liter TDI from the Golf BlueMotion making 104 HP. The green Scirocco will also benefit from a few efficincy upgrades like aerodynamic tweaks, low resistance tires and different gear ratios.

The latest Bluemotion model from Volkswagen is Touareg BlueMotion . It is powered by a 3.0 Liter TDI V6 common rail diesel engine and develops 220 HP and 405 lb-ft of torque. The Touareg BlueMotion has a fuel economy of 34.0 MPG, up from 30.4 MPG, and CO2 emissions are cut to just 219 g/km, down from 244 g/km. The alternatively fueled Touareg can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 126 MPH.

In the world of tuning the more outrageous and unique that you can make your vehicle the better. So if you were looking for something to set your Volkswagen Scirocco apart from ordinary road going machines then we have just the product for you. A set of gull-wing door plates from LSD priced at only 1,549 Euro.

The plates are attached to the Scirocco’s factory door mounts and are equipped with the new Guided Roller System which allows the doors to open up and away from vehicle with ease and close them even easier due to the high precision fitment. A lot of engineering went into the aftermarket hinges that are certified by the German Technical Control Board which ensures that a Scirocco equipped with a set of the company’s gull-wing doors will be just as structurally sound in the event that the worst case scenario occurs.

Diesel cars are very successful in Europe, maybe it is because they have a great fuel range, maybe it is because they don’t pollute as much as they used to or maybe it is because in the European Union, the less refined crude product costs a lot less than standard unleaded gasoline. These are all good reasons why people here in the U.S. should think about test-driving a diesel. Especially if it has been modified by the Volkswagen specialists J.E. Design.

The tuners from Leingarten decided to have a go at a TDI powered version of the latest hot hatch from Wolfsburg, a TDI powered VW Scirocco . Starting out to reestablish diesel’s good name, the tuners came up with an engine program to raise the output of the 140 HP version to 180 HP and increase the thrust from 235 lb-ft to 295 lb-ft of torque. For the more hardcore tuning enthusiast, the 2.0 TDI CR program takes the 170 HP from factory and increases it to 205 HP and increases twisting power to 302 lb-ft of torque. This model can go from 0 to 60 MPH in around 7 seconds flat and hit a top speed of 142 MPH. The power units retail for around 1200 and 1500 Euro each.

The J.E. Design body kit can be yours for only 900 Euro, but the funky door hinges will set you back 1500 E.U. denominations. Sitting pretty under the wide rear end is a new sport inspired stainless steel muffler and the Sky Rocket sits about an inch and a half lower to the ground thanks to a new set of springs that work with the factory shocks in order to eliminate the wheel gap between the Scirocco’s wide fenders and 19 by 8 inch multi spoke rims and tires. In order to recreate what you see before you it would cost around 8000 Euro, that’s a pretty penny to pay for a whole lot of style. Maybe if VW decided to sell this car in the U.S. you could spend some of your tax incentive for going green on the kit.
