Volkswagen just launched their third generation Touran back in 2010, but it seems as though the company this model needs a little more work as we have just caught the first mule for the next generation Touran in its testing phase.
The best part is that Volkswagen forget to cover up the goods on this mule, so we can easily see that the next generation Touran will feature an all new front end with a new front bumper, new headlights, a new grille, new engine hood, and new fenders. The only parts that were camouflaged were the lower part of the bumper and the headlights, so thank you Volkswagen!
We can also see that the track will be slightly wider and a few centimeters longer, but that’s pretty much all we can say at this point. More details will should follow in the upcoming months, since the new generation Volkswagen Touran will be unveiled at either the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show or the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
A very successful model on the European market, a new generation Touran made its world debut at the Auto Mobil International in Leipzig. The new minivan shares the same design DNA with the latest models from Volkswagen and features improved engines and technologies.
Starting with the engine, the German company added a new entry level model: a turbocharged direct-injection 1.2-liter TSI engine that delivers a total of 105 HP and 175 NM of torque. Besides this one, Volkswagen is also offering eight other engines, with power ranging from 90 HP to 170 HP.
Up front, the new Touran features new bumper, radiator grille in glossy black with chrome trim, engine bonnet, wings and headlights. On the rear it gets a restyled roof edge spoiler that reduces air turbulence in the rear section and helps to lower the new Touran’s Cd value from 0.32 to 0.29.
The interior also gets new materials, instruments, decorative accents and controls.
UPDATE 08/06/2010: Volkswagen has released prices for the 2011 Touran. The base model will start at £17,585, while a fully loaded Touran with 2.0 liter TDI engine will cost £25,535.

The Volkswagen Golf has many offspring. So when the Golf gets redesigned, it will trickle down the rest of the line. Here’s the first TopSpeed rendering of the Golf-based MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) called the Touran.
The future minivan-like Touran is expected borrow the same design that was first used in the Scirocco and then in the new generation Golf. There is no information about the engine choices, but it will be likely to mirror the Golf’s lineup. There are no current plans to bring the Touran to the U.S.
After getting an increase in power at Abt Sportsline, the Touran actually should become the name “TouRun“. Because the team from the Allgaeu gives the Facelift model of the popular family van an additional portion of sportiness, and this is the reason why the Touran always possesses enough power reserves.
