2012 Volkswagen New Beetle "Speedle" by ABT Sportsline

The new Volkswagen Beetle may look the part of a mild-mannered bug, but don’t let its looks fool you. Underneath that cute profile is an engine powertrain that can be unleashed with the help of the right tuning company. Somebody like the guys from ABT Sportsline , for example.

The German tuning company and the world’s biggest tuner for the Volkswagen Group has never been one to feel the pressure of making high-performance aftermarket Volkswagens. So when they took the task of creating a new tuning program for the New Beetle, it was only a matter of time before we laid our eyes on this masterpiece.

Aerodynamically, the program includes a new body paint scheme, modified bumpers, new side skirts, a new rear muffler with oval exhaust pipes, front headlight brows that makes it look like a souped-up Herbie, and a set of 19" alloy wheels shod in high-performance tires.

While we certainly enjoyed ABT’s aesthetic work on the New Beetle, the crown jewel of this program lies under the hood. The New Beetle’s plethora of engine options gave ABT plenty of work, but in the end, they certainly made the most out of it, specifically the top-of-the-line 2.0-liter TSI Beetle that saw its output jump from 200 horsepower all the way up to 240 horsepower. You read that right, fellas. 240 ponies for the New Beetle! That’s more powerful than the Beetle Black Turbo Launch Edition.

Other engine upgrades for the Beetle include a 1.2-liter TSI that boosted its output from 105 horsepower to 140 horsepower and a 1.4-liter TSI engine with an output jump from 160 horsepower to 201 horsepower. There are also diesel variants that include a 1.6-liter TDI engine whose output went from 105 horsepower to 125 horsepower and a 2.0-liter TDI engine with a bump in output from 140 horsepower to 170 horsepower.

Yeah! It really looks so cute on its platform, and I also noticed that the racing stripes on it only add more aggressiveness on this Beetle. Moreover, I think it is the best competitor for a MINI vehicle. smiley

This new Beetle Speedle looks so cute on its design and platform but 240 horsepower is I think just enough for this kind of car. I only wonder if what the interior of this one looks like.

This new vehicle of Beetle is absolutely very striking on its racing stripes, and it looks so cute on its platform. smiley I am only wondering if its engine, is quite good enough for it?

I have to say that I also love the sporty appearance of this sports car, I found it very attractive on its body paint. I wish I could have this also, but I’m quite curious either on its interior features.

Nice design! smiley It looks so cute and angst on that! Anyway, the TSI engine of it that can deliver 240 horsepower is quite impressive for this new beetle but I just wonder if it also had an impressive interior and I have to say that I am really hoping that it had.

This car is cute and it looks like the Italian Stallion and Dreamin by Wheelsandmore. It also looks like a bug. However, the performance of the car is quite good even if it is only a beetle.

The transformation of the car from vintage to modern is kind of impressive. Although, they haven’t upgrade the performance of the car still I love this production! BTW, I think they need to change the current engine of the car to make it more powerful.

Well, I’m really glad to know that they have made a modern modification for the Beetle. I really love the newer styling of this car and they have upgrade the speed performance as well.

I really like the racing stripes on this one. It kinda reminds me of Herbie or the old school Bumblebee from the Transformers cartoons. Which they could have made this yellow though.

This one is simply cute and its horsepower is much better compare to others. This car must be put into production as soon as possible.

This one makes me remind of a commercial done by Volkswagen with a running Beetle as the main character. It looks exactly the same. Just make it black.

OK, this one is definitely good lookin, I would say that this is one of the best takes on the Bettle. I also like the fact that they were able to make this one look much sportier.

Well, its a good thing that VW have modified this car and transform into an awesome production! However, its seems that this tuning company have forgot to upgrade the performance of the engine.

I really like the newer look of the Beetle for it has new platform and I have to admit that the speed performance is great as well. However, I think it would be better if they have removed those racing stripes.

I like this 2012 Beetle but when it comes to tuning, I think HPA Motorsports will give it some serious venom.
