The Volkswagen Golf R showed up to the 2012 SEMA Auto Show with the help of the fine folks of H&R Springs.

For their take on this Golf R, H&R Springs took the liberty of decking it out with a comprehensive program that really reflects on their capabilities as an aftermarket company.

It’s no secret that H&R Springs have the innate skill to not only complete a program like this, but to make it stand out from the rest of its peers. That was the mission with this program and they’ve certainly taken it to heart.

From the subtle exterior and interior improvements to the comprehensive chassis and suspension upgrades, H&R Springs really went out of their way to build a program for the Golf R that translates in any language, whether here in the US or over there in Europe.

Find out more about the H&R Springs’ program on the Volkswagen Golf R after the jump.

Exterior

On the outside, the Golf R received Sticky Jewel graphics, a US Mill Works front plate mount, European Golf R stone protectors, and car care products from Meguiar’s. It’s not a whole lot to go by, but body upgrades isn’t what makes this program special. The real treat is on the chassis and handling of the Golf R.

Interior

Inside, H&R Springs dressed the interior with the revolutionary WeatherTech FloorLinerDigitalFit interior carpet with the patent pending High-Density Tri-Extruded (HDTE) material. Volkswagen Golf R accessories were also added, as well as a new window film from 3M and additional "R" aluminum accents and LED lighting.

Performance

When Volkswagen called the Golf R "the most powerful VW sports performance vehicle ever sold in the U.S.," they weren’t exaggerating. The sports hatchback was fitted with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that packs 256 horsepower, enough to catch the attention of VW enthusiasts from this side of the Atlantic.

Chassis and Suspension

The aftermarket company installed a Street Performance Tuner Coil Over suspension and their very own 26mm rear Sport Sway Bar, giving the Golf R improved stability and handling. The suspension, in particular, comes with lightweight aluminum front struts and rear shocks that keeps unsprung weight down and provide precise suspension performance for the car’s already nimble chassis. The H&R Coil Over also lowers the ride height of the Golf R by 1.25” in the front and 1.55” at the back.

Wheels and Brakes

H&R Springs fitted the Golf R with a new set of 19"BBS Super RS wheels in silver wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Silver tires. The Golf R’s brakes have been augmented with Baer Decela Rotors that have been drilled and slotted, contributing to the car’s all-business appearance, and providing improved braking capacity. There are also Phantom series G-Stop brake line kits, which have special black poly-coated stainless steel brakelines from Goodridge, providing a more responsive and firm brake pedal feel to the car.

 Would’ve liked a power upgrade
 Not a flashy program
Won’t blow you away at first glance
