It looks like the 2014 Passat Sport isnt't be the only Passat ->ke224 making its way to the 2014 . Alongside it, the German company->ke94 will also present the Passat BlueMotion Concept, which shows that a car doesn't necessarily need a hybrid powertrain to be fuel efficient.

The new Passat BlueMotion Concept is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI engine, dubbed the EA211. This petite powerplant makes use of direct fuel injection and turbocharging to pump out a tidy 150 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, and travel an estimated 42 miles on a single gallon of fuel.

To achieve this Prius->ke231-like fuel economy, the BlueMotion Concept is equipped with an Active Cylinder Management (ACM) technology that deactivates cylinders two and three under light loads, and a stop/start system that shuts off the engine when the car comes to a stop.

The concept that VW will roll out in Detroit will coated in a new Reef Blue Metallic color that will make its way onto future Passat models. A series of "Bluemotion" logos will be placed on the concept's front and rear.

On the inside, the seats will also be offered in a two-tone trim, combined with blue dividing lines between the darker and lighter leather seating surfaces.
