Do you recall the Volkswagen Passat Performance Concept that we saw at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show->ke222? Well, it looks like Volkswagen->ke94 decided to wait a year before giving it the concept a place in its production lineup.

Known as the Passat ->ke224 Sport in its production guise, this concept-turned-production model will be displayed at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show->ke222 and will hit the market in early 2014. It will start at $27,295 with a manual transmission or $28,495 with a six-speed automatic transmission, and it will take a mid-level spot between the SE and SEL Premium trims.

The Passat Sport will take lots of design cues from the concept car, including the black roof, black mirror caps, sport seats, interior carbon trim and more.

The new addition to the Passat lineup will be powered by a 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque.
