German automaker, Volkswagen , is presenting quite a roster of vehicles at the Shanghai Auto Show. One of them, though, already has a dealership future. It’s also has a name that should catch a lot of peoples’ attention.

This is the Volkswagen iBeetle.

In case you’re wondering why there’s an "i" in front of "Beetle ", that’s because the iBeetle comes with a unique feature that no other Volkswagen has ever had. It’s the first VW to carry a newly developed docking station and a special iPhone application.

Oh, ok.

Honestly, a lot of people were probably expecting a whole lot more for a Beetle with an "i" prefix of sorts. So it’s got a docking station that you can put your iPhone into and take advantage of all its capabilities? Not exactly the kind of iCar we were all thinking Apple collaborate on.

But once you dive into what the iBeetle is fully capable of, you’ll understand why Volkswagen is pretty excited about this model.

German automaker, Volkswagen , is pretty serious about rolling out its CrossBlue lineup. Before it does so with production models, though, the automaker is testing waters with concept versions.

We saw the CrossBlue Concept earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show, and now, Volkswagen is taking to the Shanghai Auto Show to present its latest concept, the CrossBlue Coupe Concept.

This new concept is certainly just as stunning as the first CrossBlue Concept. And the release of a second variant of the CrossBlue model really shows just how serious VW is about offering green options that are still fun to drive. But its production outlook seems bleak, for now.

Volkswagen impressed us with the CrossBlue Concept back in January. We’re hitching our wagons in believing that the German automaker can do it again in Shanghai.

Volkswagen Golf R

It’s been a while since Volkswagen last took the new-generation Golf R out for a test session. With spring officially hitting Europe, VW took it for a cruise around the Nürburgring and our spy photographers caught it. Of course, Volkswagen tried to hide it with fake red GTI badges on the front fender, but that didn’t fool us.

The only changes visible in these latest spy shots are those big air intakes and the quad exhaust pipes, but expect the new Golf R to also receive sharper brakes and an updated chassis. Rumors suggest that the new-generation Golf R will also be the most powerful Golf ever. It will be powered by a revised version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder found in the current model, with output taken up to an impressive 300 horsepower. It is also believed that the next Golf R will be about 150 pounds lighter than the current model.

Expect the new generation Volkswagen Golf R to be unveiled sometime in 2013.

Volkswagen’s presence in the Japanese market is pretty strong and it’s probably because of this standing that Volkswagen Japan is releasing a special-edition Golf model that will be exclusive to the Japanese market.

Dubbed the Erste Edition and built to celebrate the German model’s 60-year run in the country - Der Erste means "the first" in German - the Golf Erste Edition models will come in two different trims: Comfortline and the Highline.

Surprisingly, the pair of Erste Edition models come don’t have a whole lot of distinguishable characteristics that separate themselves from standard models. It doesn’t even have any special badges, as far as we can tell.

Having said that, these models are treated as limited run models and well, we’ll treat them as such.

The 2015 Volkswagen Golf made its North American debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show . The Golf is a practical hatchback vehicle that offers good performance in one trim and great gas mileage in another.

The seventh generation of the car is longer, wider and lower than the outgoing model . This gives the car a more aggressive and sportier look while also making it more aerodynamic.

The improved aerodynamics along with a lighter body help to give all trims better gas mileage than their predecessors.

For someone wanting a sporty looking car with good performance the regular Golf is a very good choice. However, if you are worried about sky high gas prices then the TDI clean diesel is a good option for you.

Updated 05/12/2014: Volkswagen today announced prices for the 2015 Golf which will be put on sale later in August. Prices will start from $17,995 for the two-door Golf Launch Edition model with manual transmission. More details on the prices after the jump.

Volkswagen Scirocco GTS

When Volkswagen announced the revival of the legendary Scirocco everyone was very excited. The third-generation Scirocco was quite an evolution over the previous model and now it has been reported that the fourth generation will evolve even more.

In a recent interview, Volkswagen Group head of design Walter de Silva said that the next Scirocco will adopt an entirely new body style. The model will arrive sometime in the middle of the decade and will revolutionize the industry.

According to de Silva, the next Scirocco must be completely different: "We don’t want to repeat the body style of the Scirocco, we want to change that." The next Scirocco is currently in its design stage and the company is working on "enhancing the sportiness of the Volkswagen portfolio with Scirocco."

Also, he confirmed that Volkswagen has no plans in expanding the current Scirocco lineup, but the next generation will get "all options."

Volkswagen Tiguan received a first update at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and surprisingly, no major tuning kits have been announced for the small SUV since then. Today however, German tuner, ABT Sportsline, announced a complete upgrade kit for the Tiguan that includes exterior and upgrades for nearly every engine in the lineup.

The exterior kit includes a new front grille, new door strip attachments and for the rear, a new skirt that hides the exhaust pipes and a new spoiler. The tuner is advising its clients to opt for either the ER-C or DR wheels, but CR alloy wheels are also available.

Under the hood, the tuner upgrades both the petrol and diesel engines. The 2.0-liter TDI version is tuned to 140, 170 or 195 horsepower (up from the standard 110, 140 and 170 horsepower). The 1.4-liter turbo version now delivers 160, 180 or 210 horsepower, depending on the version your Tiguan has. For the most powerful engine, the 2.0-liter TSI engine delivers either 230 or 260 horsepower.

Lotus Evora S

Late last year, VW’s labor chief made it crystal clear that he would reject any additional expansion of the automakers umbrella, as they already have their hands full with the 12 brands that they are managing. Well, we were rather skeptical of that stance and threw out there that we highly doubt that VW is done just yet. And now, reports are pointing in just that direction.

In an interview with Reuters Television, Martin Winterkorn – VW’s CEO – said “We are currently well positioned with 12 brands, but there are always opportunities that one cannot pass up.” Surprise, surprise, Volkswagen would hop on the right deal if one popped up, regardless of what the labor chief thinks about it.

The pressing issue now is what brand would VW be interested in? At one point VW was interested in snagging up the resurging Alfa Romeo, but FIAT has made it clear that the brand is not for sale. So, what other brands could VW set its sights on? Well, there is one obvious troubled automaker that could use the shot in the arm that the German powerhouse provides, and that is Lotus.

Once a successful British sports car builder , Lotus still builds a quality machine but shoddy management and poor product planning has led it down a path that few automakers can recover from. A buyout would be cheap for Volkswagen and life saving for Lotus, so we wouldn’t be shocked to see a deal between the two in the next year or so.

The seventh- generation Golf GTI made its official debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and it already received its first tuning kit. The package was announced by German tuner, ABT Sportsline, and it features two different upgrade kits and an aerodynamic kit that transforms the car into the coolest GTI you will ever see.

For the engine upgrade, ABT is offering two stages. In stage one, the standard 230 horsepower goes up to 270 horsepower. The tuner is currently developing a stage two that will take the engine’s output up to 310 horsepower - a number more suitable for a sports hatch.

The exterior kit combines the most suitable colors for a sports car: white, red and an aggressive black. The aerodynamic kit includes a new front spoiler and front grille, and new mirror caps and side skirts. For the rear, new skirt inserts and trunk lid attachment, plus a new exhaust system with four end pipes.

Customers will have the possibility to choose between two different wheels, measuring 18 or 19 inches and combined with suspension springs that will lower the car’s ride.

Along with the launch of the new Golf Variant , Volkswagen has also unveiled the new Golf Estate Concept R-Line - the first time an R treatment is applied to a Golf estate model. Even though VW said nothing about a future production version, we are pretty sure we are going to see one on the market pretty soon.

Up front, the new R-Line concept receives a newly designed bumper with a dominant air intake in the middle, a new front spoiler painted in the body color and striking splitters. When viewed from the side, the concept gets high-gloss black sill and for the rear, the R-Line package adds a sporty and distinctive black diffuser, a new roof spoiler and chrome tailpipes. The concept will be offered with 18-inch R-Line wheels painted in "sterling silver."

For the interior, the new Golf Estate R-Line will add ergonomically designed sport seats, center panels wrapped in a high-tone Nappa leather in "Space Blue," black carbon leather used for the inner surfaces of the side supports and black Nappa used for the outside surfaces of the seats, the steering wheel and the middle arm rest.
