2012 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack
Volkswagen will be coming to the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show (December 3rd-11th) with a very interesting version of their successful Passat. The new model is called the Passat Alltrack and is supposed to close the gap between the conventional Passat Estate and SUVs such as the Tiguan. Sales of the new model will begin in early 2012. But what makes this new Alltrack version different from the Estate version? Well, it comes equipped with new bumpers in an SUV style – with wheel well and side sill flares. The car also offers a greater off-road ramp angle, approach angle, departure angle, and higher ground clearance. The engine line-up will include two turbocharged direct injection petrol engines (TSI) and two turbodiesels. The petrol engines will deliver up to 210 HP and the most powerful ones will be equipped with standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive and a dual clutch transmission (DSG). In the diesel version, this option will offer a low combined fuel consumption of 41 mpg in the 140 HP version and 40 mpg in the 170 HP version. UPDATE 02/21/12: Volkswagen has officially released a comprehensive photo gallery of the Passat Alltrack. On top of the photos, the gallery also has a visual instructional guide detailing and describing all the cool features in the vehicle. Check it out! 2011 Volkswagen Eos Sport & Style

Since its official debut back in 2007, the Volkswagen Tiguan has become the most successful SUV on the German market. So the fact that Volkswagen has already decided to offer a facelift for most of the line and as many accessories as possible shouldn’t surprise anyone. Joining the bunch is the availability of a new R-Line Package offered exclusively for the ‘Sport & Style’ equipment version. For the exterior of the Tiguan, the R-Line package adds a black textured rear diffuser, aluminum door sill plates with R-Line logo, and another R-Line logo on the radiator grille. Even if the new generation Volkswagen Touareg is four centimeters longer than its predecessor, the German tuner Je Design is offering a tuning package that makes it even wider. The new body kit is available for every Touareg version, including the R-Line one. The kit includes: a new sports grille, front spoiler, front and rear wheel arch kit, rear apron insert, and a tailgate panel that make it look much more aggressive. There us also a new dual exhaust system with oval stainless steel tailpipes on either side and a new set of 10x22 inch aluminium wheels wrapped in ultra high-performance tyres of the size 295/30. For the interior, the entire dashboard, door panels, and the extensive roof liner are covered in the finest Alcantara.. The tuner will be also offering an optimised engine management system that will increase the 4.2 l TDI engine’s output to a total of 410 HP (up from 340 HP) and the peak torque from 590 lbs-ft to 685 lbs-ft. The 3.0 liter TDI engine’s output has also been creased from 240 to 285 HP. Volkswagen to unveil two new models in LA
The 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show will begin in about a month and we already have the first details on the models scheduled to be displayed. The first details come from Volkswagen who confirmed they will be coming with two new production vehicles — not concepts. Both will be global debuts, meaning they have not appeared at any other motor show. Volkswagen hasn’t offered any other details on these two new models, but we are pretty sure that one of them will be the Convertible version of the new generation Beetle. The second production car can be one of two possibilities: the next generation Golf - very unlikely - or the facelift version of the Passat CC. Our bets on the Passat CC. Whichever direction Volkswagen has chosen to go, we should have more details at the 2011 L.A. Auto Show during the media preview on November 16th and 17th. 2012 Volkswagen Golf R - US version
The European market got graced with the Volkswagen Golf R at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, but we had to wait two more years before seeing it on our side of the pond. Alas, the time has come and the Golf R’s debut even came with more power, more performance, less gasoline consumption, and a reasonable $33,990 price tag. The new Golf R uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 256 HP, 6 HP more than the previous R32 sold on the US market back in 2008. With this adjustment, Volkswagen states that the Golf R is "the most powerful VW sports performance vehicle ever sold in the U.S." The Golf R is also more economical, delivering a fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway compared with an EPA estimated mileage of 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway for the previous R32. Of the many vehicles Volkswagen has released in Frankfurt, the new R-Line package for the Volkswagen Polo may be just another vehicle to some people, but rest assured, it’s anything but. Save for a performance program, it’s got everything you need, including exterior and interior upgrades, new color options, and a new set of alloy wheels. Among the new accessories that can be fitted into the Polo include new front and rear bumpers, a roof spoiler, new side skirts, LED license plate illumination, daytime running lights, chrome exhaust tailpipes, and a new set of 16" alloy wheels. A new sports chassis is also available, one that can lower the car’s ride height by 15 mm. Various color options are available for the Polo R-Line, including Deep Black Pearl Effect, Reflex Silver Metallic, Pepper Grey Metallic, Shadow Blue Metallic, Hot Orange Metallic, Candy White, and Flash Red. The car’s interior was also given some fresh enhancements. There’s new leather and Alcantara upholstery, GTI sports seats, a black roofliner, a leather steering wheel, aluminum pedals, door sills, and a number of R-Line logos. Volkswagen has yet to announce a price for the R-Line package. The launch date is expected to begin at the end of the year with versions available for just about every model of the Polo. 2011 Volkswagen Up! Azzura Sailing Team
Volkswagen has released a full army of concept vehicles based on their new Up! platform at the Frankfurt Motor Show. One of the concept vehicles, the Up! Azzura Sailing Team, is a version of the Up! that takes nautical pleasures to a new level. As an open-top concept with a lack of doors too, the Up! Azzura Sailing Team was penned by no less than Volkswagen chief, Walter de Silva, and Giorgetto Giugiaro with the idea of bringing to life and paying homage to nautical life. As such, the design elements featured in the concept carry some of those nautical characteristics, including an open-cabin with mahogany and maple wood trims, chrome components, and white-blue leather. On top of that, the car has also been dressed in a resin coating to make it waterproof, which would make sense considering the whole point of the concept. As for the powertrain, the Up! Azzura Sailing Team runs on an electric motor, although nothing appears to be set in stone since the concept is unlikely to ever make it to production. 2012 Volkswagen Up GT! Concept
It’s not rocket science to understand that the Volkswagen Up! Concept is not the poster car for fast cars, seeing as the concept only carries an output of 75 horsepower. What was surprising though was that for all of its capabilities - or lack thereof - Volkswagen has come out with a GT version of the concept that delivers an output of 100 horsepower. Not exactly raging stallions, is it? In any case, this is what the Volkswagen Up! GT Concept has to offer. Compared to the its standard version brethren, the GT version is a monster on four wheels, at least as far as relativity is concerned. It carries a turbocharged three-cylinder engine that produces 100 horsepower and 111 lb/ft of torque - a significant improvement from the 75-horsepower output of the standard version - while carrying a 0-60 mph sprint time of nine seconds. But more than all the numbers, the Up GT! Concept also carries some aesthetic improvements from the standard Up, including a more serious front bumper with LED running lamps, a roof spoiler, twin-chrome exhaust finishers, and a set of 17" wheels as the cherry on top of the proverbial sundae. | featured reviews:
