The 2007 Volksagen Passat R36 was unveiled last year at Essen Motor Show on November 30. It is powered by a 3.6 liter six cylinder direct injection gasoline engine that delivers 300 hp. As part of standard equipment power transmission is handled by a direct shift gearbox (DSG) and permanent four-wheel drive (4MOTION). The top speed of the sedan is an electronically regulated 155 mph. In terms of speed, the Passat R36 outstrips every other Volkswagen in accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h: the sedan reaches the 100 km/h mark in 5.6 seconds (5.8 seconds for the Variant).

At Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen will unveil the Passat BlueMotion that is said to be cleaner than a Toyota Prius with its three cylinder 1.4 direct injection turbodiesel engine that gives it the ability to do 72.4 mpg.
