  The Passat was launched in 2008 and the latest variant was launched this year. It has only a 2-litre CRDi engine and the petrol will come later. Its biggest competitors are the Honda Accord, Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and the Hyundai Sonata. VW has launched the Passat with the BlueMotion technology and the Passat has the first in class park assist and Dynamic Light Assist.

Volkswagen Passat gets new technology


The Passat is entering the winter season with two new engines to choose from: the 1.4 TSI (90 kW / 122 PS) and the 1.8 TSI (118 kW / 160 PS). That brings the choice up to seven petrol engines (ranging from 102 to 250 PS) and three diesel engines.

Volkswagen Passat R36 - impressive ad

The 2007 Volksagen Passat R36 was unveiled last year at Essen Motor Show on November 30. It is powered by a 3.6 liter six cylinder direct injection gasoline engine that delivers 300 hp. As part of standard equipment power transmission is handled by a direct shift gearbox (DSG) and permanent four-wheel drive (4MOTION). The top speed of the sedan is an electronically regulated 155 mph. In terms of speed, the Passat R36 outstrips every other Volkswagen in accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h: the sedan reaches the 100 km/h mark in 5.6 seconds (5.8 seconds for the Variant).

2007 Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion


The new Passat BlueMotion – no other vehicle of its size consumes less fuel. The saloon needs exactly 5.1 litres of diesel for 100 km. And just as convincing: a CO2 emission level of just 136 g/km. The world premiere of the Passat BlueMotion is 6th March at the Geneva Motor Show.
