Exterior and Interior

The new Volvo Concept You is a large, luxurious sedan that combines a new, sculpted Scandinavian form language with the elegant lines of classic Volvo models. Designed in cooperation with a number of world famous brands, the new Concept You reveals how the new Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) opens up dynamic design possibilities.

The Concept You is finished in a light blue, liquid metal paint from DuPont, while the ventilated disc brakes are developed by Volvo's racing specialists, Polestar. The final touch has been given by a new set of 21" polished aluminum wheels with a twisted twin-spoke design and tires from Pirelli (275/30/21).

The interior is all about luxury and the latest technologies. It has been designed around Volvo's new "Designed Around You" strategy. As a result, the center console consists of four main areas: a digital Driver Information Monitor (DIM), a head-up display on the windscreen, a touch-screen in the upper part of the center console, and a touch-screen between the two individual rear seats.

The steering wheel is made from a combination of wood and leather and comes with glass paddles with integrated touch-screens, while the four individual seats are inspired by ultra-comfortable chairs and blend chrome-free leather from Bridge of Wear with Dinamica ecological suede.

Engine

As most of you might have expected, the new Concept You is a hybrid vehicle. It combines a four-cylinder engine driving the front wheels combined with the Flywheel KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) fitted to the car's rear axle. This system offers an additional 80 HP while also improving fuel economy. The engine is mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

Volvo has announced that starting later in 2011, they will being testing the new Flywheel KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) on public roads.

Prices

The Volvo Concept You is strictly a concept with no hope of ever seeing the production line. The only time you will see the Concept You is in bits of pieces of the company's future line, starting with the S80->ke394.

Competition

The new Volvo Concept You previews the next generation S80, so we'll base its competition on that of the luxury sedan. The Volvo S80's competition consists of the BMW 5-Series and the Audi A6, among others.

The Audi A6 has just been revised for the 2012 model year and looks better than ever. It comes with two gasoline engines and three TDI units with power going up to 300 HP. It's also getting packaged in a hybrid version for the first time.

The BMW 5-Series line-up, also revised recently, will range from the fuel efficient BMW 520d producing 184 HP up to the impressive 550i powered by a 407 HP eight cylinder engine.
