Last month, Heico Sportiv unveiled the V40 "Pirelli" edition and now the tuner is back with the unveiling of the most powerful V40 ever. The model is based on the Cross Country variant of the V40->ke4155 and aims to be an alternative for cars like BMW M135i xDrive and Mercedes A45 AMG.

The new V40 HPC is based on the S80 HPC Concept; instead of the “HPC” standing for "High Performance Concept" like on the concept version, this time the abbreviation stands for "Heico Performance Car."

The new V40 features both exterior and interior updates, but the most impressive job was made under the hood where the tuner offers two different levels of upgrades. After all the updates, the V40 can hit a top speed of 164 mph, making it the world’s fastest V40.

Pros
Cons

Exterior

For the exterior, the tuner opted for the usual Heico body kit and a very cool Matt Toxic Green film with decorative stripes. The kit is entirely made in flexible polyurethane plastic (PUR-R-RIM) and includes a front spoiler and rear skirt in diffuser look.

Interior

For the interior, Heico opted in making the V40 look sportier than ever. For this, it added a sports steering wheel with fixed paddle shifters integrated into the rear. There is also a new set of Recaro body-contoured sport seats wrapped in the highest-quality leather.

The same leather was used for the door paneling, the sport steering wheel, gearshift and handbrake grip. All of them are combined with green stitching. Heico used Alcantara for the gearshift and handbrake collars, while the tachometer cladding, free-floating central console and steering-wheel inlay are in piano black. For an even sportier look, the tuner installed an aluminum pedal set, fine-velour floor mat set and black anodized, illuminated stainless steel door sills.

Drivetrain

Under the hood, the 2.5 liter five-cylinder turbo engine is updated with a turbocharger, a new exhaust system with sport catalytic converter and flap control. The tuner also installed a new Heico Sportiv performance enhancement system and a new speedpack that helps increase top speed.

The output of the five-cylinder engine in increased in two different levels. In level one, called "green," the engine delivers a total of 320 horsepower - up from the base 254 horsepower. In level two, which the tuner named “blue,” an additional water-ethanol injection system is activated and the output increases to a total of 350 horsepower. Peak torque was also increased to 376 pound-feet.

With the extra power the new V40 HPC will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds and will go up to a top speed of 164 mph. This way the HPC V40 becomes the world's fastest and most powerful Volvo V40!

Suspensions and brakes

Such a powerful V40 requires a more powerful suspension and braking system. To satisfy this requirement, Heico installed a new sport suspension system with specially harmonized sport shock absorbers and sport springs for the front and rear axles. This new suspension system will also lower the car's ride by 30 mm (1.18 inches).

The new HPC V40 will sit on a new set of 19-inch weight-optimized wheels wrapped in special 235/35R19 ContiForceContact cup tires. The V40 is brought to a stop by a six-piston sport brake system with perforated 370 mm (14.56-inch) diameter brake disks.

Prices

Prices for the new HPC V40 will be announced at a later date.

Competition

BMW M135i xDrive

Heico has big hopes for its new HPC V40, as it transformed it from a boring car to a competitor for cars like M135i. The BMW sports hatch is powered by a 3.0-liter straight-six-cylinder engine with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology that delivers a total of 320 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. The M135i can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds (automatic: 4.9 seconds) and up to a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited).

Mercedes A45 AMG

Maybe one of the most impressive models unveiled by Mercedes in the past few years is the A45 AMG. The model carries a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 360 horsepower and a peak torque of 331 pound-feet of torque.

As you can see, it is a little bit more powerful than the HPC V40, and is also a little bit faster: it goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and up to a top speed of 155 mph.

Conclusion

Heico Sportiv managed to take a rather boring car and transform it into something really cool. It’s true that it is not as its competition, but the HPC V40 is still the most powerful and fastest V40 you will ever see.
