2013 Volvo XC90

Volvo has brought onto the market the XC90 SUV back in 2003 and since then no major updates have been made. But for the 2013 model year the company has announced "the most significantly updated XC90 since its launch a decade ago."

For the 2013 model year the XC90 has received a bold new look along with an enhanced roster of standard features inside and out. Exterior changes include new body-color bumpers, side skirts and wheel arches and of course new LED daytime running lights for the R-Design models. The list of updates continues with a new bumper bar, silk matte mirrors and 18-inch "Thalia" alloy wheels. The interior gets sanded silver aluminum inlays, white instrumentation lighting and a leather strap on the tailgate.

No changes have been made under the hood though, as the American version gets the usual 3.2-liter in-line six-cylinder engine that delivers 240 HP and 236 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 2013 Volvo XC90 ha already been put on sale with pricing starting at $39,500.

The 3.2 version has been updated even further with a new silver front bumper bar, chrome taillight trim, silk matte exterior rear view mirrors, air intake décor trim and 18" Thalia alloy wheels.

This engine is equipped with Variable Cam Timing (VCT) and Cam Profile Switching (CPS) and comes mated to a six-speed "Geartronic" automatic transmission as standard.

The competition

Volvo XC90

One of the Volvo XC90 competitors also updated recently is the Audi Q5 . But next to significant exterior and interior changes, the German model is also offering a choice of three TDI and two TFSI engines with power ranging from 143 HP to 272 HP, so in here customers will have lots of versions to choose from. Its true though that the Q5 is a little bit more expensive, but who can compete with the German quality, no?

LOVE IT
  • Improved appearance
  • New interior features
  • Cheaper compared to competition
LEAVE IT
  • Just one engine
  • This generation is getting too old

Volvo is not known for making good SUVs. But this one looks great. Besides, the price is very reasonable.

A precise number should be declared for its production.

It has a good starting price and expects little difficulties on having one of it.

I expect a high demand of supply for this one.

The competition is in the price not with the price. Whoever car dealers offered lowest will be in demand.

Well, isn’t it tempting? Volvo fans must have gone for the original version though.

Volvo shared the market with other brands offering with lower price that is tempting for car-seekers.

Many are convinced to buy because of the affordability of its price.

If you observe it closely, you’ll see that it still needs improvement at some point.

The elaborate improvement on its appearance only is satisfactory so far. The performance needs not to be upgraded massively as I believe that it already runs powerfully and smoothly.

The amount of luxury poured into this car is insatiable, but what you’d spend on it will definitely amaze you as it is affordable.

It seems like Volvo has been using tactics with this; how is it possible to sell a car of such quality in a really affordable price?

I love how it is a high-end vehicle, yet it’s sold reasonably.

This is one instance where a cheap pricing is implemented while the quality of the car is high.

Affordability is not an issue, what matters is the material to meet the international standards. I know that it’s Volvo, but with the price range given, I couldn’t resist to question the quality of production that resulted in the price.

I thought inexpensive cars with non-cheap appearance wasn’t available anywhere anymore; apparently, Volvo XC90 will continue to exist.

What I like about this is even if it has great specifications, it’s price is unbelievably affordable.

Initially, I didn’t even bother to check what it’s been made of; who would still think of that when it has already captivated you upon first glimpse?! It’s definitely ideal as it is designed stylishly and equipped powerfully, yet it is priced cheaply.

So I guess this has gotten better in terms of styling because of the updates. An upgrade under its hood isn’t necessary anyway as the engine is already capable of giving off such power. I personally like how its exterior colors complement the interior.
