The current-generation XC60->ke3026 was unveiled in 2008 and the revision announced at 2013 Geneva Motor Show is the most impressive one. In fact, Volvo opted to update the entire lineup, before unveiling the new generation.
Just like with all the other models, Volvo only updated the XC60's exterior and interior with design elements in a way similar to the one initially revealed in the new V40, which was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. This means it receives a redesigned hood, new front bumper and new headlamps on the outside. On the inside, it receives new materials and packages.
Volvo->ke188 also includes a series of new safety features and convenience features that took the XC60 to the next level of elegance and sophistication.

Exterior
Volvo revealed the new-generation XC60 in 2008, but the revision for the 2014 model year is certainly an important one. The updates include a revised outward appearance by way of a new hood, front fenders and a wider front fascia. The 2014 XC60 also receives a bold new grille, revised headlights, a new lower front spoiler with bright trim, vertically mounted LED daytime running lights, new front and rear skid plate decoration and an integrated exhaust pipe design. Essentially, Volvo simply revised the XC60 to match up with all of the other recent revisions on Volvo models in an attempt to retain a corporate identity through its lineup.

Drivetrain
Under the XC60's hood, customers can choose from three engines. The base model comes with a naturally aspired 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine with an output of 230 horsepower. This version features front-wheel drive as standard, with Volvo's All-Wheel Drive with Instant Traction offered as an option. In the base version and combined with a six-speed geartronic automatic transmission, the XC60 delivers 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. With all-wheel drive, the XC60 3.2 delivers a fuel economy of 18 mpg on the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
The next version, the XC60 T6 AWD gets a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. When combined with the six-speed geartronic automatic transmission, the XC60 T6 AWD delivers a fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
The top version is the XC60 R-Design, which makes use of a the same 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine that delivers 325 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque, thanks to an ECU remap. The R-Design version only comes in an all-wheel- drive version and uses a six-speed geartronic automatic transmission. In this configuration, the XC60 R-design delivers a fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
The T6 AWD and the R-Design models are offered with an Advanced Quick Shift system that includes a Sport Mode, which improves gear change speed by 20-30 percent. As a result the sprint from 0 to 60 mph goes down from 6.9 to 6.5 seconds in the T6 AWD version.

For the 2013 model year, the X3 lineup received an updated xDrive28i, while the xDrive35i continues unchanged. The xDrive28i is powered by a four–cylinder engine delivers a total of 240 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 260 pound-feet of torque developed at just 1,250 rpm. On the other hand, the xDrive35i gets an inline-six cylinder engine with an output of 300 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and a peak torque of 300 pound-feet delivered between 1,200 and 5,000 rpm.
Prices for the X3 range from $39,600 for the xDrive28i and up to $44,700 for the X3 xDrive35i.
On the U.S. market, the Q5 is offered with a choice of two engines: a base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that packs 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque or a more powerful supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 that makes 272 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
Prices for the Q5 start from $35,900, but it can easily go up to $51,400 for the Prestige model that packs the V-6 as standard.
Conclusion
The XC60 may not be the best SUV on the market, but it surely does the job. It has a few problems though: room for just passenger, limited cargo space and it can get pretty expensive, but it's not as expensive as the competition. The XC60, no matter in what configuration, is also a little bit slower than competition, but for those of you who do not need to hit 150 mph in a SUV, it can be the right choice.
