2011 Zagato TZ3 Stradale

The XII Villa D’Este Concours d’Elegance which took place in April 2010 gave way for Andrea Zagato to present the first step of his "Project TZ" with the 2010 Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa . This project was set in motion to honor 100 years of production and the long tradition of race Alfas with Zagato bodies. Fast forward to this year’s Pebble Beach Concours and Zagato is back with the second step of the "TZ Project", the Zagato TZ3 Stradale. The Stradale will be based on a 2010 Dodge Viper by utilizing its rolling chassis, engine, gearbox, suspension, etc. It is completely road legal, but will never get to see the production block.

The original TZ3 Corsa was originally built for German Alfa Romeo Zagato collector Martin Kapp while he was attending the Zandvoort Tribute. The Stradale is in no way related to the Corsa, except for the fact that they are both part of the "TZ Project." The TZ3 Stradale features a carbon fiber body with the same dimensions and weight of the Dodge Viper. It will be powered by a 4.2 liter V8 engine.

Before the car’s official debut at the Villa D’Este, Zagato has revealed the first details on the TZ3 Stradale, a vehicle that will be limited to only 9 units worldwide.

Exterior and Interior

The Zagato TZ3 has been built as a celebration of the Alfa Romeo’s centenary and is a tribute to the Alfa Romeo and Zagato street legal heritage, as was the one-off TZ3 Corsa. It features the Viper ACR’s mechanical chassis with a carbon fiber body placed over a tubular frame. It also gets the Kamm-tail (K-tail) layout found in the Corsa and made popular in the "Coda Tronca" bodies of the sixties.

The Alfa Romeo and Dodge thing may be a little confusing to some, but this is indeed a car that has borrowed elements from the Dodge Viper and transferred them over to a vehicle fit to carry the snakey badge. It uses "Bellezza necessaria" as inspiration and can be considered the first American Alfa Romeo.

Engine

Zagato TZ3 Stradale

Originally, the TZ3 Stradale was rumored to carry the Viper’s 8.4L V10 engine, but news from Zagato states that this limited production vehicle will be utilizing a front-central 4.2L V8 90° engine mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox.

Prices

Zagato TZ3 Stradale

Zagato will only build nine units of the TZ3 Stradale, with the first three already sold to their lucky owners. The first unit was delivered to US Alfa Romeo and Zagato Zagato collector, Eric King, and the second and third units will find their way to owners in Japan and Europe. Pricing for the limited edition sports car has not been revealed, but we’re thinking that if you have to ask, then you can’t afford it.

Ferrari of Newport Beach is offering you the chance to drive a TZ3 Stradale, that of course if you have an extra $699,900 in your pocket.

Competition

Zagato TZ3 Stradale

The Zagato TZ3 Stradale is a unique car, built with the intention of eluding any competitors that find comfort in knocking it off its celebratory horse, but since there are only nine units, alternate sports cars are a must.

One vehicle closely related to the TZ3 Stradale is the Perana Z-one . This model is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 440 hp and sprints from 0 to 60 mph in about 4 seconds.

Another sports car with a power output similar to the Limited Stradake is the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S . It features a V8 engine with an output of 430 hp at 7,300rpm and 361 lb-ft of torque at 5,000rpm, with a top speed of 189 mph.

Is Zagato a car manufacturer? I thought they are a tuning company. By the way, I like the look of the car which is very impressive. The dodge viper technology is an add up to its power. I wonder why there are only 9 of this one.

Special editions.. When I hear that thing, the very first thing that comes into my mind is that it really has the looks and performance. The dodge viper engine of this is the attention grabber since it is proven a reliable engine.

Admittedly, the Zagato of the Aston Martin have an impressive performance unlike this car. I don’t think that Alfa Romeo is successful in boosting the speed performance of the car.

Its kind of disappointing that they haven’t make a boost performance for this car. The exterior is kind of impressive and it uses a carbon fiber material but I don’t think that it makes the car to run faster.

Too bad that this cat comes in limited edition! The performance of this car is not that impressive and its engine is quite outdated..I wonder if they are going to offer a newer technology for this one?

IMO, the Zagato version of the Aston Martin seems better compare to this car. Although its good in red I have to say that the latter have the bet platform.

To me, there’s nothing new stored for this car. Its completely the same among other sportscars that has been posted on this thread.

I think they can achieve that high power performance for this car. However for a v10 technology, 8 liter is kind of gas guzzler! Hey guys from Alfa Romeo! Can’t you deliver a better fuel economy car?

Well,I’m expecting a lot from this current production since its a Zagato version. I’m looking forward for high speed performance though I already seen that this car has an awesome design in exterior! I want more than 700 hp output!

My heart is really soft when it comes to a red car whatever brand it is as long as it looks good on my eyes. Good thing its a limited version, only 9 person in the whole world can acquire this baby, simply this would cost millions so owning one is really hard, rich guy can own th nice one’s again.

hmm. I have to say that the sound of the engine will makes my eardrum explode!
I hope they have noticed it. However, I just wonder if this coming Christmas are they going to give a discount for this car just like what they do last yearsmiley

Nice, finally we’re seeing this guy in action. And from the looks of it, it seems that the Zagato is really performing well, es expected of this car.

Yeah, its noisy and it hurts my ear though I have to agree that this car has an impressive look and its good in red.

Wow! I like the exterior of this car it really look so sporty. However, I find the sound of the engine quite noisy. I was expecting for s smooth sound. Well, it’s just a test drive. I can’t wait for the final output.

one thing that I have noticed about the Zagato is that it has some sort of old school feel to it. And surprisingly, I actually like that style.

Hey, the front of this car is definitely starting to grow on me. It really fits the whole design well, and it’s also quite elegant to boot.

Then again please leave that red paint job to Ferrari cars! BTW, the engine of this car seems interesting since it was based from the Viper!

Imagine that, they are only doing nine units of this car. I bet those guys who can afford this one are already scrambling in order to get themselves on the reservation list.

As expected, the Zagato really looks good, no matter what angle you look at it from. The only bad thing about this o0ne is that we likely won’t see one hit the streets.

@eddie_long, It is different from the Maserati Stradale. The Maserati is a sister company of Ferrari and Zagato is under Alfa Romeo.
