Toyota Prius Owners Beware

While driving a Prius, one of the best mileage giving cars around, you might get the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing the best you can for the suffering enviroment but you might also get the heart wrenching pain of waking up and seeing your car blown apart.

The incident happened at about 7a.m on a Friday morning in the month of July when a loud explosion sent a Prius owner rushing outside, only to see his car in flames. Investigators later reported the work to have been of an arsonist .

This is not the only report of the highly revered enviromentalist car being the victim of violence. In Petaluma, California, at least seven Toyota Priuses were attacked and damaged during a rampage in April. One owner woke up to banging and found out someone was using a hammer against the body and windshield of her car. Yet another owner had her Prius damaged twice and while it was being repaired, a large rock was used to mutilate the Prius that she had rented.

While it is not uncommon for people to dislike a certain brand and model, this type of violence can only to described as disturbing at the least. John Hanson, a Toyota spokesman said that people who were peturbed by the whole enviromental movement were probably justified in beating up a car that had become an icon for it.

So if you happen to be a Prius owner, please take extra care of your car, because no one likes having their vehicles damaged.

Will the next Ferrari supercar be "green"?

The industry is abuzz with rumors that Ferrari is already in the process of developing its next supercar and experts have reason to believe that it will be a hybrid. Generally, hybrid cars include systems that are designed to take and store unused energy to provide power to it later on. It is speculated that a compact hybrid system will be integrated into the new Ferrari’s transmission so that, without increasing fuel use, the car would gain added acceleration.

Ferrari, itself, hinted at this new direction during its 60th anniversary celebrations. The company back then said that fuel efficiency would be one of the major features of its upcoming models.

Also, during the event, a scale model prototype called the FXX Millechilli was showcased. The car weighed just 1000kg and looks like a morphed, mini-Enzo.

According to sources, Ferrari engineers are considering mounting most of the new car’s controls on the steering wheel; research is also underway to create a lighter chassis aimed at further reducing the vehicle’s weight by at least 90kg.

It might still be a couple of years until this new car goes into production but it’s expected that the Eco Enzo will also introduce Ferrari’s new-generation aerodynamic technology, including ‘active aerodynamics’ that pump air out through the body to influence the way air flows over and under the surface of the car.

Ferrari already has its eco-friendly F430 Spider Biofuel concept car. Although this particular model has yet to go into production, it seems that, now with the development of the Eco Enzo, it is all systems go for the company in terms of ‘going’, or rather ‘racing green’.

Welcome Honda tuners/restorers!

Hey Honda tuners. This is just a welcome article. Of course, feel free to add your own articles/pics. Just keep it clean. The picture attached is my own 1995 Honda Civic DX coupe that I’m currently restoring. Yeah, it’s a total basket case, but its my basket case. After we (my dad and I) took out the interior, we discovered my basket case had been in a flood a long while ago, judging by the dried-on silt. This also explains why all four fenders are dented in. Apparently, my car was once amphibious. That aside, its a great car, minus a few parts. So if anyone knows where I can get a clutch, shocks, front axles, and other performance parts, post an article and let me know.
