TopSpeed Editors

TopSpeed leverage 10+ editors and contributors with deep automotive knowledge and a passion for journalism. Our experts are hard at work to bring you the latest news and reviews without bias nor compromises.

Philippe Daix

Topspeed founder, Philippe Daix is a motorhead at heart but also a computer geek. More often behind his keyboard than on the road, you can still catch him on the auto show floor, harassing engineers to understand what lies beneath the pretty body work.

Justin Cupler

Justin Cupler is the editor in chief of these TopSpeed.com pages, and he’s been a member of the team since 2012. Justin’s love for cars started back when he was just five years old, helping his dad work on his 1957 Chevy Bell Air and then his 1966 Chevelle SS. Justin’s love for car’s became a career when he began working on cars in the mid-2000s, then he moved into repair shop management shortly after.

After growing tired of fixing other peoples’ car problems, Justin earned a certificate in radio and television broadcasting, and dove into the world of talk radio and television. Following a short stint in radio, he then moved into the print journalism, and began writing for various automotive sites, including Cars Direct, Internet Auto Guides, Ebay Motors, and many more.

Justin loves his family first, but second in line is his 2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5 that he aiming to crest the 300-horsepower mark with. It’s a little rough right now, but we call that "character."

Kirby Garlitos

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn’t know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.

Mark McNabb

Mark McNabb is an associate editor with TopSpeed.com, and has been part of the team since 2013. Growing up, Mark always had a mind for tinkering on random items throughout his home and dad’s garage, including a 1953 Ford Mainline and 1971 Corvette Stingray. He could even be found working on tractors or hay bailers while on vacation at his uncle’s farm. Mark’s spare time was heavily consumed by reading automotive magazines and wondering how in the heck people could land a job testing cars all day. He eventually figured it out.

Mark earned a degree in journalism in 2010 from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. A few jobs and career changes later, Mark landed his first automotive writing position with AutoTalk.com. Eventually TopSpeed came calling and the rest is history.

Though some swanky press car usually graces his driveway, he still enjoys driving his 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. It might not be a cultural icon nor an instant collectable, but his Chevy is part of his family, along with his nearly three-year-old daughter.

Christian Moe

Christian Moe is hell bent on being the most unique and interesting auto writer you’ll find. He continually chases interesting stories and adventures that bring some freshness to the world of automotive journalism. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the business including Autobytel and Road and Track, and now he is bringing his talent, wit and questionable taste in cars to TopSpeed.com

He loves all things motorized as long as they are old, interesting or have a good story. When not flogging a car down a local backroad he can usually be found several fathoms deep in some random body of water.

He also likes romantic drives and long burnouts by the beach.

Ciprian Florea

Ciprian’s passion for everything with four wheels (and more) started back when he was just a little boy and the Lamborghini Countach was still the coolest car poster you could hang on your wall. Ciprian’s career as a journalist began long before earning a Bachelor’s degree, but it was only after graduating that his love for cars became a profession. His automotive adventure started reporting on various motorsport events as a sports writer before moving onto a full-time auto career with various sites, including This Week In Motors and Autoevolution. He’s a proud member of the TopSpeed team since early 2014.

Although he’s into just about any type of vehicle, Ciprian is not your typical car enthusiast. Ask him to choose between a BMW M4 and an Audi RS5, and he’ll gladly trade both for a beat up ’Cuda. Nothing annoys him more than car electronics and he just hates it when performance cars lack a third pedal. Additionally, he can give you several reasons why there’s still no replacement for displacement. Don’t let his grumpiness fool you though, he’s more than excited to provide the latest news and reviews on the most interesting cars in the industry. Nuts about any form of classic motorsport and muscle cars, Ciprian’s currently working on a time machine that would take him back to the 1960s for a long vacation alongside Dan Gurney and Jim Hall.

Pratyush Rout

The youngest member of the team, Pratyush is the guy behind the renderings that you see here at topspeed.com. Always on the lookout for visual cues in the latest spy shots, Pratyush is always pushing to bring the most accurate and realistic renderings of what upcoming cars might look like. While he spends most of his time sitting behind his Wacom tablet and laptop sketching automobiles, he also likes writing about them and loves spotting cars, super bikes, airplanes and pretty much anything that can move.

Bringing a creative eye to the TopSpeed team, Pratyush loves Aston Martins, believes in the idea of form follows function and will make it a point to lecture you on the difference between styling and design if you ever touch the topic in front of him.

When not working around cars or bikes, he can spend a questionable amount of time catching up on movies, TV Series and fantasy novels and is one of the biggest George R.R Martin fans.

Simona

Simona graduated from the Faculty of Computer Science in 2005, and landed a position with TopSpeed in 2006, after trying some boring office jobs. Since then, she learned all the secrets of hunting and bringing you all the greatest news out there. She visits hundreds of pages each day, just to find the best news out there for you.

She learned that all the car launched out there must have a great story behind it that needs to be found and brought to you.

If she was to pick a daily activity, then the answer will be of course: get behind the wheel of a sports car and enjoy some long drives on winding mountain roads.

Cyril Demortier

Prowling the auto shows with his expensive gadgets, Cyril is always on the hunt for the best shot, still or moving.
