The Audi TT is a compact sports coupe from the German automaker that was first introduced in 1998 with a 1.8T power plant before receiving a 3.2 Liter V6 making 250 HP and was refreshed back in 2007. Since then Audi has upgraded every member of the TT line to use their Quattro all wheel drive system as well as a few diesel burning mills to go along with the new 250 HP 2.0 Liter TFSI motor and is able to go from 0 to 60 MPH in only 5.9 seconds.
Of all the European based tuners working on VWs, there is only one that will make the truly knowledgeable enthusiast take a second glance. For over half a century, the German modification specialist Oettinger set their sights on improving everything Volkswagen from Seats to Skodas and everything in between. The benefit of this is that 60 years later after Audi and VW have become one, Oettinger can produce a magnificent matte black Audi TT.
The Oettinger tuning program ranges from engine enhancements, to elegantly styled aero kits as is evident by this black TT that wears everything from a set of headlight masks to a carbon fiber front lip spoiler all making the TT a much more muscular machine finished off with a set of the signature Oettinger RE wheels. In addition to their engineers and electronic technicians, who are constantly developing and perfecting new engine enhancements so that hardcore VW enthusiasts will continue to have a place to turn to for high quality performance parts.<
Remember when Ricky Bobby lost all of his driving mojo and had to be helped out by a cougar so he could remember how to be a bad-ass racer again? We’re asking this because, apparently, taking your pet cats – and we don’t mean the little, domesticated ones – out for a leisurely joy ride is something that isn’t just happening in movies these days.
This footage was taken in Russia after a car spots an Audi TT on the ride with a most peculiar head sticking out of the passenger side window. As the car got closer to the Audi, they realized that there really was a head, only that it didn’t belong to a human. It belonged to a leopard.
Yes, a leopard - those ferocious, feline beasts that can literally devour us if they so please. Turns out that this car didn’t want anything carnivorous to eat; all it wanted was a nice, cool breeze on its whiskers.
Although the name pretty much says it all, the German automaker Audi has created a special edition Audi TT to coincide with the release of Forza Motorsport 3, the XBox’s latest racing simulator which has already raced to the top of the sales charts. The limited edition TT will wear the Forza Motorsport logo, but what is even more significant about the special TT is that the car comes with a hidden bonus, in the trunk owners will find an Xbox Elite 120GB as well as a copy of the video game Forza Motorsport 3.
Microsoft and the video game’s producers, Turn 10, promise that the third installment of Forza is more than just point a to point b racing and has offers something in store for every kind of automotive enthusiast. Anticipating everyone from racers to drifters, Forza 3 has everything from Le Mans prototype and GT racecars competing wheel to wheel on the circuit as well as highly modified tuner cars that want nothing more than to burn rubber while goin sideways down winding togue mountain passes. But before you get to excited about the special edition TT, you ought to know that Audi only plans on producing 20 examples and that they will each be priced at around $37,000. Now that’s quite a premium to be paying for an XBox 360, not that the turbocharged all wheel drive TT isn’t worth it.
Audi has spared no expense in commemorating its 100th year anniversary. One monument after another, the German-based company has not wasted any time letting the whole world know of their remarkable achievement.
The latest Audi sculpture to make headlines measures 33.5 tons and weighs close to 10 tons. Exactly what kind of behemoth monument is it?
Audi has prepared three of their signature models: the A3, TT and R8 with one of the greatest navigation system available at the moment. The new Audi navigation system plus with MMI is being priced between 2,270 and 2,565 Euros; that is depending on which model you choose.
The heart of the unit is the 800 x 480 pixel, high-resolution 6.5 inch screen. Route calculation is now blazingly fast thanks to a latest-generation processor clocked at 600 MHz. In addition to the recommended path, the split-screen display now also shows speed limits taken from the navigation data for freeways and highways. In topographic map view, the driver and front passenger can scroll vertically, horizontally and now also along the route as they wish.
Audi’s R8 super car is a dream: razor sharp bodywork, over 400 horse power behind your head and a set of eye catching rims. Unfortunately, that kind of superior automotive status comes at a sizable cost. That is why the German tuning firm Prior Design have come up with a very aggressive R8 inspired aero kit for the last generation Audi TT, bringing super car fashion to the masses.
Up front the TT wears a new front bumper complete with horizontal carbon fiber blades stretching across the oversized intakes. The rear bumper is equally as speed inspired, they are tied together nicely by the new side skirts and the TT’s already wide fender bulges. The tuner kept everything unchanged under the hood, the 3.2 Liter V6 making 250 HP being sent through Quattro, Audi’s proven four wheel drive system.
So if the Audi R8 is your dream car, but for whatever reason isn’t in your garage, the Prior Design TT is not a bad substitute. By combining the looks of Audi’s halo car, the R8 with a solid German engineered power train, Prior Design made a good car into something special. Pure sportiness and powerful performance, combined with sensational efficiency: the Audi TT Coupé 2.0 TDI quattro and the Audi TT Roadster 2.0 TDI quattro are Audi’s proof that performance and economy can be combined together.
The two-liter engine generates dynamic propulsion with 170 hp and 258.15 lbs-ft of torque, yet the TT Coupe and TT Roadster consume an average of only 5.3 liters and 5.5 liters of fuel per 100 km (44.38 mpg and 42.77 mpg) respectively—unparalleled in the sports car segment.
The TT Coupe quattro with the 2.0 TDI sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 7.5 seconds and achieves a top speed of 226 km/h (140.43 mph).
The Audi TT Roadster, likewise equipped with quattro permanent all-wheel drive, requires only an extra tenth of a second for the standard sprint, and continues up to a top speed of 223 km/h (138.57 mph). Both versions serve as outstanding examples of the success of the Audi efficiency strategy, thanks to their fuel efficiency ratings of 5.5 liters per 100 km (42.77 mpg), a figure that corresponds to CO2 emissions of only 145 grams/km.
Audi seems to be the preferred canvas to show off car art. While these cars from the Essen Motor Show aren’t quite as unique or brilliant as the Romero Britto A4, these are some custom paint jobs most enthusiasts wouldn’t mind having in their garage.
These four Audi TTs were used to show off BASf’s new automotive paint system called Carizzma. Catchy, eh?
This latest TT-RS video comes from Auto Motor Und Sport. It was made no where else than at the Nurburgring race track. The TT-RS will go on sale in the summer of 2009.
