2012 Seat Ibiza SC Trophy

The second model to be displayed by Seat at the 2012 Wörthersee event, next to the Leon Super Copa, is the Ibiza SC Trophy. The SC Trophy is based on the new generation of the standard Ibiza. It is priced at 31,500 Euro (about $40K at the current exchange rates) and has been described as the ideal starting machine for amateur racing drivers.

The new Ibiza SC Trophy is powered by a 1.4 liter TSI engine that delivers a total of 180 HP and is mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission operated from the steering wheel. The engine has been combined with a modified oil sump, a powerful brake system, and racing suspension running on 18-inch wheels housed under noticeably flared wheel arches.

The interior drops all the "unnecessary" elements from the production model and provides only data truly relevant to racing drivers. The interior is painted in a special grey paint finish combined with fluorescent orange on the mirror casings, wheels, and interior roll cage.

The Seat Ibiza SC Trophy can be driven in single-brand race series.

SEAT Ibiza Cupra "Concept"

For those that happen to not know what Sociedad Española de Automòviles de Turismo, known simply known as SEAT, is, don’t feel bad, as not many people do. This is a Mexican car manufacturer now found under the Volkswagen Group umbrella that is known for creating sporty cars tuned more toward the youthful crowd.

At Beijing, SEAT released an all-new “concept” car that is more of a certain reality than a concept, according to SEAT, but it is still technically a concept. This vehicle is a new trim level to the newly released Ibiza SC, known as the Ibiza Cupra Concept.

This isn’t just any old trim level though; this is a high-performance model that has an additional 20 percent more horsepower than the current highest output engine in the Ibiza SC. It also features some sharp styling upgrades over the SC trim level.

How does this hot hatchback compare to its bigger brothers in the Volkswagen group and other vehicles in the crowded European supermini class?

Click past the jump to find out.

Seat partners with Shakira for special-edition Ibiza and Leon "Good Stuff"

Seat may not be all that popular of a car brand compared to its competitors, but the Spanish automaker sure knows how to get the attention of each and every testosterone-laden man in the world.

The Volkswagen-owned car brand has joined forces with Colombian pop superstar and certified hot-stuff Shakira to release a pair of special-edition Seat variants for both the Ibiza and Leon hatchbacks.

Billed as the Ibiza Good Stuff and the Leon Good Stuff - the name, apparently, was taken from Shakira’s new album "She-Wolf" - each special-edition model comes with a number of engine options, as well as added goodies that include, among other things, a Tom Tom sat nav system, a black iPod Nano 8GB with Seat’s logo on it, Bluetooth hands-free capability, a multi-functional steering wheel, sports seats, heated side mirrors, fog lamps with cornering lights, and "Kenda" alloy wheels.

We’re not certain as to what extent the partnership is between Seat and Shakira, but we do know that the two special-edition Seat hatchies will play prominent roles as Shakira embarks on her Good Stuff European Tour.

2010 Seat Ibiza ST

The Spanish automaker Seat will unveil the third variant of the fun loving Ibiza lineup at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March. The slightly longer Ibiza ST will fill the gap created by those consumers looking for a little extra space to store their junk in the trunk when it goes on sale early this summer.

The Seat Ibiza ST measures in at 18 cm longer than the standard hatchback version, for a total length of 4.23 meters, and can hold up to 430 Liters worth of goods in the wagon like five door estate. This also means that the Ibiza ST’s interior is impressively spacious, with an accomplished and high quality character. The new model will be offered with a choice of six 21st century power plant variations including a trio of gas burning as well as three TDI units producing between 70 HP and a very economical 105 HP.

Seat rolls out new Ibiza print ad featuring Biker Cupid

In our history, ’Cupid’ has always been depicted as a young, innocent boy with an even more innocent smile. Turns out, the folks over at Seat have a different interpretation of what cupid looks like.

In their print advertisement highlighting their new fleet of the budget-minded five-seater, Seat Ibiza, Seat has decided to use Cupid as its endorser, only this time, Cupid is a gun-toting, gruff, long-haired, shirt-less biker.

We get the whole connection between Cupid and the tag ’Love at First Sight’, but we’re not exactly sure as to why Seat didn’t just opt for the cuter version of Cupid.

Just our two cents.
